How do I reinstall my GT5? (HANDLING IS STILL CORRUPT!)

I have to agree it look like driver error. Exuberant or not, aside from the lack of throttle control I see nothing wrong. Although, there is good news, you do show promise in racing as you have done the first thing every real driver should in the face of a poor lap...

Blame the equipment 👍

I give up!

I was trying to look for a solution to this glitch, but what I got was issues about my driving! I was just demonstrating it in an exuberant manner!

I'm thinking of another proof in rallying, but all I'll get is "keep the power low" or "your driving sucks". I'm using DualShock 3, not a steering wheel!

It must be a faulty controller then. Have you tried recalibrating it?

I have been using that controller for years now. Driver San Francisco, DiRT 2 (yes I still have it): it works for those games. Drifting works there.

The problem is only GT5. The problem erupted when I played it online. Lag may be the suspect.
Before, I was able to slide FR and 4WD cars easily. I might make video comparisons soon.

You jump on the throttle way too early and too hard. It doesn't look like a glitch, just need more work modulating the throttle.

Try coasting through the corners without gas, when your car straightens out, hit the gas.

It also looks like your off of your line, you sway and struggle to keep on it causing you to be off and throwing the car off balance. Turn it off, you don't follow it anyway, use the shift indicator to know when you should brake.

Why dont you remap your button configuration so that R2/L2 are accelerator/brake?

This allows for better control, and may help you prevent your problems.

I do see however that your driving style, IS WRONG. Please stop blaming the coding. You hit the gas, slip out, counter steer, AND YOU KEEP ON THE THROTTLE as you do this. Please explain why? Countersteering whilst holding down power WILL cause your problem.

Why dont you do the special events and licenses. If you have already done them, go through them again to better understand how a cars physics work.

I see what you're trying to show us, but what irritates me is that you countersteer in that video.

Let's say if you drive 100mph on the big straight and then use handbrake to get the car 90 degrees sideways AND THEN TAKE YOUR FINGERS OFF THE CONTROLER, what happens?
It's easy, drive 100mph and then turn in and simultaneously pull handbrake for a second. Then let it slide by itself without any input from your side.

Ok, I watched your video and then duplicated your settings other than controller sensitivity. Yes the car understeers a lot. It requires a very delicate touch to get the most out of it. This car requires you to be VERY gentle with gas and brake, brake early, and brake in a straight line or it simply won't turn in. I short shifted 2-3 gears after leaving hammerhead to keep the ass end from kicking out and you need to brake quite a bit before the follow through to get the car to turn in. If you are braking at all when trying to turn in, in a situation where you've over driven the corner then the car will not turn in. If you brake early and then trail brake into the turn at a reasonable speed the car handles pretty well. But if you push it even a little it will bite you. With the default brake balance of 5/5 I was able to do a 1:19.556 lap after about a dozen or so laps. If you use the RA menu to change the brake balance to say 3/7 you may find the car easier to drive. But honestly, from what I'm seeing on your video and what I'm experiencing on my end what you're experiencing is a driver issue, not a car or physics issue.

@jus1029
I can give you a replay from the mercedes sls academy event if you want. Time was 1:15 something if I remember right. However, then you could compare it to your driving and also check the cornering speeds to see if it really understeers.

Comfort softs are your main culprit. A stock SLS being the other.

I use a DS3 aswell - the SLS is a pain in the 🤬 on anything less than Sports tires. From what I can tell, your game is acting just fine. Brake earlier and don't be as agressive on the throttle - which is impossible with the L2/R2 design and GT5's button sensitivity.

Your lap is good - could use a couple improvements - but the game itself is not to blame. Just keep practicing and eventually you'll get the hang of it.

(Kudos for the gif though definitely gave me a chuckle )

Can you film that replay? I'm using the NTSC-version, and, from your country, it doesn't mix with PAL.

I've been a clean racer throughout most of my GT5 life! Does this look dirty?

He didn't say dirty, he simply wanted to help you. He never tried to let you look bad.
Your driving with the Subie looks more than decent. 👍 Does this mean you only have problems with the SLS?

Btw, yes I can record it in SD quality (480p). I'll do so if you want, but you'd have to wait till tomorrow or today night.

:)

Sorry about that. I got a bit frustrated.

Okay. BTW, which of the SLS challenge you've done in 1:15? The first one?

Don't forget that the SLS in the AMG Challenges runs on Racing Hard tires. So it may not be that helpful in pointing out understeer. That car has a lot more grip on RH than CS, but at least you can get a sense of how best to use throttle and brake on the car.

Yeah, that SLS handles like it's on rails due to the tires. There's a world of difference between Comfort Soft and Racing Hard.

I encourage everyone to duplicate the OP's setup of Arcade mode, Comfort Soft, all helpers off except ABS=1 and give the SLS on the Top Gear Test Track a run. It is a touchy car that's more than a handful on C3 tires. It'll give a bit more appreciation as to why the OP is unhappy and having issues.

The best answer to be had is that the OP is impatient and is in need of practice in that particular car with the setting he desires and wants to believe PD is to blame. You may be good with other cars and setups but apparently this setup requires you to practice more.

Never even said anything about driving "dirty". The SLS is a 🤬 on Comfort tires - only exaggerated more with a DS3. You have to slow your pace with it.

 What? Racing Hard?

I'm talking about the Mercedes GT Academy Seasonal Event. It was on tgtt with tyres restricted to comfort softs and no SRF btw.

I forgot to upload it, I'm really sorry. I'll do it later.

OH! :dunce::lol: Will work on it!

Ahh I just saw that the 1:15.596 was done with cutting the first right turn (on the big straight). A little later PD fixed this issue and cutting was no longer possible.
Now, I do have a replay without cutting, but it's only a 1:16.031 :indiff: Heck, you can't imagine how disappointed I was.

At 0:50 (till 1:05) you can see how badly this car understeers on comfort softs.
