Simulation tires, ASM and TCS set at 0. Good counter-steering and throttle control. Once you get the right set up, it's all up to practice.

I find that it's easier to drift around long corners with a car that is a little heavier. If you are learning to drift, say with a Trueno, it's a light car so you might find it dosn't have much momentum around loooong corners (Depending on the driver ovcourse) Ultimatley tho it's like what ForcedInduction said... you need good counter-steering and throttle control.

Maybe don't enter corners on such a heavy angle so it gives you some room for adjustment half way through the turn. If your entering in too steap, maybe your finding it difficult to keep that angle and momentum the entire distance of the long turns.

Do a search on drifting, theres heaps of information on here.

Cheers 👍

Hey badboydrifting, welcome to GTPlanet.net enjoy your stay with us.

What ForcedInduction and, Hot4are true.

The main factors in getting your "long drift" is, Taking a proper line. Wheel spin, and a balanced car.

TCS/ASM: 0
LSD(fom maximum wheel spin) 50-50-50
The car and settings depends on the driver(you), where all different and use different techniques. Find something that fits your style, and if your still having probleams post you settings, and a video if possible. I'll be able to fix any probleams to the best of my ability. :)

Keep Drifting

you want to keep the tires sliding as long as possible obviously. and that can be obtained by making changes to the suspension to stress the tires more, or increasing power. or.......use handbreak (which i dont cus its way too slow for me to enjoy)

Your line is also important, you want to be going almost as fast as you are grip driving and start sliding from beginning to end. I try to go for as much angle in the beginning and enter the corner at whatever speed is required (found by trial and error) Try practicing on apricot hill w/ a lightly tuned tuned s14. thats probably one of the easiest cars to drift tune in gt3.

As others have said, here and in other posts. You dont want any assists on and dont mix tires. Just use sims :)

If you countersteer too much, the car lose speed. A good control of the balance should do it. Also, use the sim tires.

be sure to have enough entry speed coming into the turn, and try not to drift at too sharp of an angle. a slight drift won't shave off as much of your momentum

long time no see I think

you should learn the throttle control and then play around with the suspension settings, find wats comfotable to you. try out different tyres but try not to mix em' up. always keep ASM and TCS to 0. then comes the long hours and nights of practicing good luck

How do you drift long?

HP: 345
Buy an RX-7 FC, give it the following setting, and take it to Grand Valley, where you drift the 2 long corners before the first tunnel, and the corners after the first tunnel.

Suspension

Spring Rate: 15.0F/13.9.0R
Ride Height: 100F/100R
Damper Bound: 8F/8R
Damper Rebound: 8F/8R
Camber: 4.0F/1.5R
Toe: 0.0F/0.0R
Stabiliser: 2F/3R

Brakes

Stock at 15F/20R

LSD

Initial: 0/50
Accel: 0/50
Decel: 0/30

Gearing

auto 24
Move final gear to left once using L1

Other

ASM: 0
TCS: 0
Downforce: N/A
AYC/VCD controller: N/A

Works for me. 👍

Practice...thats always best...try and try and try until you get it right, thats what I did for the most part, asked a few questions here and there but not very often.

no one could give you any more advice than just "practice". one thing you gotta do is feel the handling before upgrading so you can buy essential parts (i.e. 1-way , 1.5-way, or fully customisable lsd) and avoid buying unnecessary parts (i.e. turbo stage 3).

New-B here too...
No offense, but you guys are way too hard on people for not using the search function!.... :) (i use it :) )
I am also new to drifting in the game, and this forum has been an awesome tool for getting settings and suggestions *sp* Great vids as well :)
I put GT3 away for like a year or so, but now cant stop playing it since I watched a few drift vids..lol
Since I drive a Mustang I am kinda partial to the Cobra R as my current drift car.... that's all.......

Using the search button prevents the creation of useless threads... Each thread uses a certain amount of bandwidth on Jordan's server... It is very important that message gets through to as many people as possible... Bandwidth isn't free, and it adds up fast...

True... I guess I never thought about that........
Good point 👍

This forum is just a repeat every year. Wave of newbies and the old guys just go away. If it weren't for all these new guys all you have to do is search and find answers from like 6 months ago. All this info you can find, i used to love these forums :(

Like Forced Induction said, sims, sims, sims. I had a hard time getting my RGT and NSX-S Zero to drift entire corners. Because of the rear and mid engine layouts, eventually enough weight would shift to the rear, and the cars would just stop drifting and bolt like a scalded cat out of the corner.

Bring your power down, and try using sims instead. I brought my RGT's power down by about half(to 548hp), and my NSX down by ~150hp(367hp or so). Using sims, they run like a dream. Since they're detuned, the cars aren't quite as fast as I'd like(especially the NSX), but that's a whole 'nother issue altogether.

I had the same problem with my GT40, so I plan on detuning it and seeing how it runs on sims.
