i try to slow down at the crest, drift into the top bend and, then accelarate hard down. this has a few flaws, can you tell me your tecniqe of taking this:)

On entering the corkscrew I brake at the second yellow Bosch sign (fence on the right).
Then I let the car roll to the inside (left side) going over the rumble strip then the right wheels over the rumble strip on the downhill section of the turn.
For me the hard par is lining up for the nearly 90 degree turn AFTER the Corkscrew.

A lot depends on the car. In a lower-powered car I brake lightly first just as I pass over the hill and gradually brake harder so as not to lock up the brakes and smash into the wall. As I approach the corkscrew, I let off the brake a little and steer to just touch the left-hand edge. Then I coast down and slowly get back on the accelerator and aim to just touch the right rumble strip at the bottom. Hitting the gas too hard will almost definately cause the back to come loose. In a high-powered car, I brake earlier, just before going over the hill. It is even more important to keep the brakes locked up in a high-powered car. The rest is the same: just graze the left rumble strip and then accelerate slowly, just grazing the right rumble strip. For me, the most important things are keeping the brakes from locking up by braking early and lightly, and easing out of the turn by slowly getting on the accelorator. I used the right analog stick for gas/brake so people who use the buttons may have more difficulty with this. I would say that this is my favorite turn in the game.

I slow down to about 2nd gear, then as soon as i get the first portion of the turn done i floor it down the hill and thru the 2nd turn.

I slow down on top of the hill before the corkscrew... back to the 3rd gear... left wheels over the curvestones (left)... right wheels over the curvestones (right) and then I put the pedal to the metal!! :mischievous:

EDIT: Talkin' about my 1051hp Skyline R34 and my 951hp Castrol Supra

I start the line up after turn 5. get on the left hand side and where the course kinda moves to the left, the straight right before that should line you up not to hit the rumble strip on the right leading to the corkscrew. From there pending on the car, brake points differ. Hit the rumble strip with your left tires on the way down the corkscrew. This should line you up to hit the rumble strip with your right tires on the bottom of the corkscrew. If you screw up kindly pull the e-brake and beat a 900 degree turn :)

1.go straight thru the tire wear path towards the upper part where the turn begins
2. start braking as soon as you go over the little hill before turn.
3.now you should be at the top of the curb facing straight down
4. turn right a little and floor it.

I often use a gear higher than the red gear indicator recommends as I go into the left hand entry. This smooths out the power to the rear wheels and helps me feed the power in down the drop.

I like to straighten out the right hander as much as I can, often putting two wheels into the sand and two on the kerbs. I think I have made this into a 900 degree turn as well on a few occasions

whats funny is that this happened to me like 5 times last night while doing laguna enduro:

come in too high and your car flips on its side and slams into the tires :D

I brake just after the skid marks start and continue braking for the first part of the left hand turn. I then floor it and turn right. You need to practise to find the best line for the car you are using and you also need to take account of how strong you have set the brakes. I usually set them up at about 15 front and back as a starting point whereas the default is 9.

I heard an actual racing driver say that 85% of braking should happen in a straight line and 15% while turning.

In this corner I break that rule and probably brake 60-70% straight line and 30-40% around the left turn. PLEASE NOTE: You do need to time your turn ie pick your line precisely for this to work. And you also need a car and setup that does not slide a lot under brakes.

there are some licence tests on that part of the track check out the demo with the viper (i think it's in IA) and it will show you a very fast line.

Getting on the gas too early will ruin the turn.

Dont come into this turn with a lot of G's. You want the car to be settled evenly on the suspension.

Worry about squaring off with the turn at a fairly low speed before/as you go over the crest.

What you want to do is get the car ready to gun it down the hill as soon as possible. Coming through the turn with a lot of G's and then easing down the hill is NOT the fastest way.

Approach the crest, slow down more than normal. Give the car a second to get tamed and then punch it. The car gets VERY loose if you dont have the car under control before you lay on the gas.

This is the fastest way to deal with the corkscrew.

If you know the line, you can also hit the rainy curve (The turn after the corkscrew) with as little as a blip of the brakes. This is only to put the revs down to be able to have slightly stronger acceleration. You need to be accelerating fast coming into the Rainy Curve so the front end gets pulled around nicely. And see to it that you hit the rumble strip with your left tires momentarily.

I hit the tall rumble on the right so I can take a straighter line through the center on two tires
j/k

Before the hill, vet to the left, vear of to the right edge once at the crest of the ill then brake hard. Dont point down into the screw until the last minute. Gas it the whole way through down on the straightest line possible. You should hit the left side rubmlethen the right side rumble at the bottom, without turning until the bottom.

I agree with most of whats been posted on entering/exiting the turn. I don't like the concept of looking for landmarks and always breaking when you pass them. If you're in a faster car you have to break earlier. Slower cars can sometimes get away with breaking after you've crested the hill and settled.

Has anyone drifted this turn??? I'd love to see a replay of that. I've checked out most of the movies on this website and I haven't seen it. If I missed one, let me know.

There's your problem... right there.

accelerate up the hill heading str8 for the rumble strip on the right at the crest, brake once over the crest while turning, slide sideways.... loose total controll.... get hit by the car following.... spin 180 degrees so that your facing away from the cork-screw (now that you cant see it, it cant hurt you), slam into wall.... :D

i tend to use my polyphony 1 a bit too much! but with that its not overly difficult. i just speed up to it and suddenly brake on the hill sticking to the right hand side. Then in 2nd gear turn and slam on the accelerator but then quickly turn right and then you will b lined up 4 the next corner if u stik 2 the right. the corner after is quite simple in the polyphony u dont even have 2 slow down!
