How does the % complete work exactly?

I did a search on this and couldn't find very much information about it so I made a new thread.
What I would like to know is how much your % complete increases with every race/ championship/licence test/ mission you drive. I know that to get 100% you must win every race, get gold on all licences and pass every driving mission, but maybe even that is not enough? Do you have to do anything in Arcade mode too like the time trials in GT3?
I am guessing that for every race you complete you get 0,2%, but do you get extra for winning a championship? And do you get a % complete for getting bronze or silver on a licence test or only when you get gold?

Every race or championship trophy counts for ~0.13%. Licences do not count at all. Arcade mode does nothing.

You mean I don't need to go through the agony of getting all gold licences to get to 100% and get the black F1?
Thank God! I was really dreading that.
I take it I'll still have to complete all driving missions though, I've seen people complain here how they can't get to 100% because they keep failling mission 34. Since I am certainly no more than an average driver I'm gonna have serious trouble getting all the mission too, but still better than having to do the missions AND getting all Gold.

Yes, driving missions are necessary for 100%. They each carry the same percentage rating and 250 A-spec points.

If you have trouble on any mission, check daan's Mission videos page for a video of a passing run.

Thanks Famine, I've already seen it and noticed some of the videos are yours.
I'm not ready to attack the missions yet though. I've finnished 1to10 (cheated a whole lot on 10, staight through the chicanes :guilty: ). But now I have other things to do like get the black LM cars and the F1 from Nür 24h.
I am at 49,2 percent so I should be getting my 50% car pretty soon now (a Jaguar LM car if I'm not mistaken).
I figure I'll start looking into the mission in about 2 or 3 weeks from now.

well mission 34 is just hell but also 23 is also another touble one that I am having. I havent tried 34 yet to see what its like but oh well I just want my Zonda

If that's true, and who can doubt Famine, there must be about 770 "things" to complete to get 100%. Anyone seen the actual count?

Actually I wish they would base it on the number of laps. The 24hr enduros should be worth more percentage-wise than a 2 lap Suburu 360 race... :grumpy:

They should. The 360 race is 3 laps though :D (for a max of 130 a spec points untill I get my oil dirty)

Because the percentage is only listed to one decimal place.
You do three races and appear to get only .1 for each, but then you do a fourth and your perecentage goes up .2.
ex:
You see:
0.0% complete + 3 races = 0.3%
What's really happening:
0.0% complete + 3 races = 0.39%
So when you do the 4th race your percentage appears to jump by .2 (to 0.5%), when really it's just going up 0.13% again (to 0.52%)

My question was rhetorical.

The game would never change the rate at which percents are figured out.
Only Microsoft would do something like that.

Cheers,

There is a fair bit of luck in #23. Sometimes when you let the car behind you slipstream you and it passes it puts on the brakes or gains little distance on you.

My advice is to let as many cars slipstream you as possible on the straights then go round them on the corners. To be in with any chance you need to get up to about 172mph on each pass.

When you have done it you'll wonder why you had trouble with it!

#34 just requires practice, practice, pratice. I did nothing but mission #34 for a week or so (about half a dozen or so attempts per day) straight after I bought the game and had done the license tests and finally cracked it. You just have to learn the intracacies of the SLR on the Ring. Where it gets a little skittish etc

I don't think 0.13 is the right figure.

Most missions send it up by 0.2. It is only about every 4th or 5th one where it goes up by 0.1.

This suggests the figure is about 1.7 or 1.8.

You get percent for doing the GT mode races and missions. You don't need all gold on your licenses, no need for arcade mode, and licenses don't increase percentage. In fact, you don't even need to get the S license! You will have to B-spec those races though.

I have been tracking the numbers from 95 % complete with number of races left and it has also been about the 0.17 to 0.18 for each race.
At the moment I still have one mission left and the percentage complete shows 99.8%. If each race was 0.13 % then my percentage should show 99.9%.

That last five percent had rally races, driving missions and single race events.
There where no championship events to do.
Do the trophies at the end of the championship events change the value?

There are 522 events (not including the Family Cup) and 34 Missions which count towards % complete - 100/(522+34) = 0.1798 per event.

So you will get 0.2% for the first and second events and then 0.1% for the third then 0.2% for every 4 races and 0.1% for the 5th except for a few where it is only 0.2% for 3 consecutive races and 0.1% for the fourth.

Vital info for sure 👍

I do not know whether the 33 Chamionships have any effect on % complete. Presumably they must all be won as championships to get 100% complete so you would think that they count towards % complete. If so then 100/(522+34+33) = .1698 per trophy/mission

Easily tested - complete 5 race championship - if % complete goes up by
- 0.8% then championship trophies do not count,
- 1.0% then they do count,
- 0.9% do it again as there could be rounding error in either direction.

My guess is that they do count although perhaps they are only worth a very small amount so you get to 99.9% complete or something. Anyway, don't know and really don't care.

That would confirm my situation.

I am on 99.1% and was worried that the "so called 100% bug" might get me.

I have 5 missions left.

5x1.798 = 8.99% and I have just had a 0.1% meaning I have 0.2x2, 0.1 and then 0.2x2 for 100%.

All I have to do now if actually do the 5 missions I have found hard. And yes 34 is one of them.

Mine clicked from 99.8% to 100% with the last mission completed.
Your numbers look good, no need to worry about a "100% bug".

Yeah I am now relaxed. I now have 4 missions left and I am now on 99.3%. My calculations suggest next mission will get me to 99.5, then 99.6, 99.8 and 100.

I will post in the thread titled most hated mission but I will just mention here that for me it is 14 - the superbird at Seattle. I know it is possible and I know what I have to do but for some reason I can not put it together in the one attempt.

I have nailed the first half a lap better than Daan, I have been 1.3secs behind first but then all goes wrong. I think I am stressing that much that when I see the 1st placed car I think I need to catch it but what I need to do is concentrate on my line and I should get it.

My apologies - I pressed the 3 instead of the 6. Damn numeric keypads.

Although it transpires it's nearer to 0.17 anyway. Nuts.

Good on ya Famine. Looks like you are human after all. Thanks for the videos and all the tips by the way.

But i hope I never see you on the racetrack.

And in case you are wondering these are all complements.

Bwa-ha! The Turing Prize is mine! All mine, I tells you!

Ok. Call me thick but is it the agreement in this thread that the family cup races (in each of the tracks) do NOT count towards the % complete?
