How Does User Restrictions Affect AI Drivers?

Hi All,

I was curious to know how the following affected the AI driver's in A-Spec:

1. Tyre Wear & Fuel
2. Mechanical Damage
3. Rain & Wet Tracks

With 1 & 2, If applied are they only effective on the player? I have yet to see any AI drivers suffer in their driving after collisions etc.

The only time I have seen AI drivers making mistakes etc is in my created race tracks where sometimes the AI have problems holding a racing line on bends.

I'm a bit concerned that with the above options whether I am just handicapping myself.

1. And 3. Definitely effect the AI, not sure about the damage as I've never experience them having problems or driving weird.

They definitely pit when their tires are low and same goes for fuel if the race is long enough.
Wet conditions they tend to drive slower and also pit to change tires when the rain gets heavier or lighter to more suitable tires.
However like I said, I don't think I've ever seen any symptoms of damage on any of the AI cars in GT5 on A-Spec.

Thanks aadil717. Look's like another To-Do for PD. Why have mechanical damage if it does not affect AI in A-Spec? I do love and am a big GT fan, But with GT5 the changes are too many and seem player restrictive in nature. I would much rather like to see AI drivers making mistakes. Would it not be great to have AI causing pile-up's and the car damage setting in?

I ran a full damage race in which some AIs pitted that MIGHT not have needed to for tires. They certainly seemed to have pitted too early since I've never seen them pit without the tires nearly gone. At least one of the cars in question was one that I, ahem, sort of broke my car on, ahem, twice. I wonder if I saved the replay?

The other couple of full damage races I ran I didn't notice any incidents.

EDIT to add: There's no mechanical damage in A-Spec for the player or the AI. I'm still unsure how much body damage actually affects aero grip/drag. I've never seen evidence of it having much if any impact even though it does say somewhere that it does. A high-aero car should be nearly undriveable with massive body damage, but not so in GT5 - where you also can't fix body damage.

WOW! That sounds awesome! Hope yet maybe! Currently I am stuck on level 31 and the only sure way of leveling-up seem's to be the Endurance races... Maybe I will be lucky and see some interesting AI behaviour

Endurance races are better in that the AI doesn't have "catch up" and there is fuel use and tire wear, but still no mechanical damage. You have to do one-make or arcade races to have damage while racing the bots.

The enduros do give quite good experience if your login bonus is at 200%. I'm [much less than] one Nürburgring 4-hour away from finally hitting level 40 myself.

Thanks for the info. I will experiment with the one make races. I hardly bother with arcade as I don't see any point in it. I doubt academically I will do much in GT after level 40. I don't like rally or formula to complete the game.
