How long do you expect new content to be added to GT5

I wish Forza was cross platform. GT5 has the physics and too some extent graphics but on a pure enjoyment level i believe Forza blows it out of the water. But that's for another time.

I agree. I have turned my interest back to Forza, finishing up 3 and working on 4. The once a month DLC, 10 car pack's have been going steady since Novemeber. Not to mention the pre-purchase bonus cars, 22 I think it was.

Now were getting ready for the 36 car Porsche pack May 22, 6 of those have never been seen in Forza, as well as 20 new events and tracks. This is where I see PD could have grabbed an agreement with Porsche, as the door was open. Turn 10's initial release of Forza 4 was Porsche absent, but had 3 RUF's.

See you on the track!

Turn 10 also had to pay enough money to air condition Hell to get it. They didn't have it at launch because they weren't sure if it would be worth it.

It was said an agreement couldn't be reached. Where did you hear your version?

There was no "open door" with Porsche, EA still has the license and Turn 10 or Microsoft probably paid through the arse to get Porsche into Forza 4.

For all we know, Turn 10 or Microsoft could have paid even more to have EA not let PD use Porsche.

I don't think Turn 10/Micro would have paid through the nose when they were already in Forza 1-3. But whatever the price, I'll be paying for it May 22nd I guess, so they will be getting a portion back from me.

I guess Kaz may have not seen the value in it if the $$$ were out to lunch to secure such a deal (if there was ever one). No matter what, we all can get our Porsche fix elsewhere.

If the tech doesn't exist yet how are you going to work on a game for it. I don't know why your having trouble understanding that.

Untill they have completed the PS4 there will be no games in production for it regardless of when it's going to be released.

When it is finally finished Playstation will contact the gaming companies and give them the software to work around but untill that time noone is going to be able to work on PS4 games.

Anything else?

Wow you actually believe that drivell! So why is it every time a new system comes out they have games already to play on it? Those games weren't just built in that afternoon after the release of a system. Yet you might think they were built that afternoon.

Better question is what dol you not understand? Or what world do you live in? Devs make games for consoles that haven't been released and are release titles as Simon just told you. PC game devs make games for operating systems that are released later down the road. The technology is in the making but yet games are still made in advance.

Dev kits are there for such things, yet Simon already mentioned that.
Well yes if you want to get technical. :)

What's funny is you're right and yet the user stops arguing with you only to pick up a conversation with others. As if what you said never happened. I guess some people don't know when to say sorry. Great job though Simon, as usual.

Why are you even talking about release dates? The point is if they haven't even finished working on the software for a system how on earth are they going to finish a game for it.

To some extent you can get the building blocks for a game and then implement the required software to run it but finishing a game without the tech isn't possible.

What your saying is "In 1999 they could work on games for the PS3" No your wrong the tech didn't exist.

You seem to be hanging your hat on the release dates when noone is even talking about that. I am talking about the technology. Learn how to read please.

How on earth did they finish all the games that were released on the same day the PS3, XBox 360 and Wii were released? Look at the list of launch titles for Sony Vita, quite massive. Those games had to have been made before Vitas launch, which is also a period that the software probably wasn't finished.

No that's not what I'm saying, but since you're going to extremes obviously you don't get the concept of Dev Kits. Why would devs leap frog an entire system, it doesn't work like that so your claim falls flat. Oh and not to be mean but it's you are or you're not your.

That’s ironic because you seem to have the reading impairment issue. I don't see me saying a release date any where in my post, also I too am talking about technology. You're talking about your idea and trying to force it upon us, and sadly you’re wrong we have told you where to look you didn't. Move on with life if you don't want to learn and have fun with those primitive thoughts.

First of all you don't even remember what you wrote a half hour ago but that's ok it's posted here for people like you to back track. I suggest you go read your post again maybe twice just so you can realize you might have memory issues. Im going to try to explain both of our points so that you can get your head around it. I'll try to keep it simple for you.

You are saying: Games can be made before RELEASE DATES.... obviously noone is suggesting otherwise.

I am saying Long before the release date the technology has to be made and untill the TECHNOLOGY is created the games can't be finished.

I really don't know why your having trouble with this. Please leave your ego at the door next time.

Just in case your not ready to take on the task of reading i bolded them for you.

Still think you said nothing about release dates?

Wow you really don't know what you're talking about, are you that thick? I never gave a release date meaning dd/mm/yy you know that type of thing. No one talking about release dates you did so long before anyone else giving out assumed release dates or do you not remember what you wrote?

Here I'll post it up for you.

The way it is right now GT6 won't be coming out for 15 years.

The PS1 has 2 titles the ps2 has 2 titles and think about how long it took them to make 1 Granturismo on the PS3 NOW they are going to be making the next GT title on the next gen console and who knows how long it will take for the PS4 to even come out.

GT5 was released when the PS3 was already on it's last legs can you imagine how long it will take for them to create another game with next gen tech.

I don't think many people understand. You can't work on a game if the technology doesn't exist yet. When the PS4 finally comes out THEN they will be able to START working on GT6 and considering how long it took them to release an unfinished GT5 on a 7+ year old PS3 it's going to be decades before they finish the next installment of the game.

I laugh when people post threads about what they want in GT6 because by the time this game comes out we will be flying around on hybrid donkeys.

You were not only talking technology wise, why does this thread have a double standard for you? I'm sure many of us here would like to know. Yet I'm the fool, maybe you had an out of body experience and you really didn't write the above quote.

Furthermore, I used release to explain something to explain that even if the technology as you put it isn't there games can still be worked on and made via SDKs. Thus the technology is there in some shape of form and companies like apple, sony and ms give that to devs to work on apps and or game or other things that said device will implement.

You suggested otherwise based on the fact that the technology isn't there, you made the claim...

If there is an SDK provided by Sony then yes they can, if they couldn't then launch games wouldn't exist to allow people to buy first day bundle packs to test the new system.

I really don't know why your having trouble with this. Please leave your ego at the door next time.

You're telling me to leave my ego at the door yet I'm the third person you treat like an idiot to make a moot point. Another contradiction on your part, bravo. The only trouble I'm having is you writing up contradictions and then bashing people as if they're stupid.

This has gone on long enough. obviously your having comprehension issues.

We are talking about 2 completely different things and you are too narrow minded to look both ways before opening your mouth.

Yeah you figured me out. Great argument you put up. :sly:

Everyone can participate by downloading free GT Academy 2012 application from the PSStore. But only residents of countries where Nissan decided to give a green light to commence the Academy can actually compete once the virtual-phase ends.

Not if you don't have an internet connection. But even then, DLC wouldn't really matter to someone, they'd only care about a "Spec II" disk or something along the lines of that. I'm pretty sure every country can download and compete, but not all can go on to the final rounds.

Ok, I'm going to try to explain this as carefully as possible. The system may not be released yet, but the software DOES EXIST. Technology DID exist to develop GT5. The reason it took so long was because PD was completely rebuilding the physics from the ground up. They were having to use new software, yes, but it WASN'T because of the new system. Explain MotorStorm, a game that was out as a bundle with the FIRST PS3's that were released. If you did ANY research on GT5 and the PS3 (or 4), you'd probably already know this.

It doesn't matter that two GT games came out on each console so far. The PS3 is an exception - it now has the ability to have DLC and updates, and has other online features. What gives you the assumption that GT6 will take decades to make? PD already has gotten used to the new engine, (thats what game designers and software devs./programmers need to do - if you can't adapt to new/different technology, you're fired) and really only has to update, fix, and add new features; (as in no standard/premium classes, all cars should be high-resolution, all tracks with AT LEAST dynamic weather, have an A-Spec/B-Spec thats about 4-10 times longer than GT5 [like the previous GT games], add in that "data logger" feature [and other known features that were being developed], and fix those blocky shadows, improve engine sounds, and edit the damage model and collision physics.) most of these are edits, and pretty much everything you see in GT5 (aside from classic tracks and cars) were built from the ground-up, hence the long production time.

About the PS4; There's SEVERAL reliable sources claiming that Sony plans to release the PS4 (code named "Orbis") in the holiday season of 2013. Here's the fact about video games: You can make something WAY too powerful to be supported on the current system line-up. You don't necessarily need this "technology" that you speak of; devs. really just need it to know compatibility and what sort of content is enough or too much for the system; if you don't know the specs, what do you develop on? Of course, there ARE limits to technology, you could make a car with a trillion polygons now, and use a supercomputer to render it and use it in a game, but in the future, it's likely that it would be the standard model and could be used on any household console of the time. It's really all down to the hardware requirements, but what you seem to not get is that the developers DO have this "technology" (as some have stated the "Dev. Kits") to make the games before the consoles are released; the console manufacturers and developers "give" them to the developers a few years in advance in order to ENSURE that there ARE initial release titles, (like Motorstorm on the PS3) and that the console will have a use. As a few people stated, games aren't made overnight, in fact, YOU said that, saying that GT6 will take decades to develop.

Here's a link that has some "dev kit" information; I quote (paragraph 3 [1st under "rumor rundown"], lines 6 - 8 state: "Developers have reportedly been receiving dev kits for the PlayStation 4, and will continue to receive improved versions till the end of 2012 according to Kotaku, ensuring a worthy line-up for the launch."

I hope this answers your questions, corrects your mistakes, teaches you a good bit about the gaming industry, and most of all, ENDS THE ARGUMENT!

I agree, and with the re-launch of Sony's “SimulView” 3D bundled with GT5, May's GT Academy update will be last for us. I don't feel PD will continue with DLC's after that.

You sir, know your stuff which is what we tried to explain but this guy thinks he knows it all it seems, thus what do we know. Anyways great post on your part.

Also side note to the OP/mustang guy; you're the first user I've seen to do the whole /thread bit as if you some how have the power to decide when threads are done with. Too funny.

I been wondering this a lot lately as well. I would guess fairly soon since school is ending all over and it would be a perfect time to release it right after may 24 weekend.

I think instead of working on the new batch of DLC, PD focused on the 2012 GT Academy. If another three months go by without any DLC or news on it, then I guess it would be safe for us to start looking forward to GT6. But I like being optimistic so lets hope for some more DLC!

I agree GT5 is over with now, and on to GT6 it would seem, well they've already begun.

I'm guessing gt6 is still a long time away tho

Most likely but it's better to know they're working on it at least and not be in the dark about it.

Well I'm sure they are. Usually things are all planned out before they even start working. Meaning gt6 was done in their minds while gt5 was being made. So all they have to do now is physically make it.
