Now, assuming that you buy the game new and it has 1.0 on it, how long does it take to do all 10 updates? I really don't want to try it, just something to think about for people just now buying the game

This should be the last thing you worry about when buying the game. But it took me around an hour to fully update. Also Note that my Internet connection isn't the fastest...

I recently updated the game from scratch (got a new PS3) and the whole downloading process lasted for about 30 minutes on a 15Mbps connection. The download size was just over 600MB. From 1.0 to whatever version we are on now.

I can download that size over the internet in around 5-6 minutes with my connection. So it's
really the PSN holding you back if you have a half decent connection.

Installing the whole thing (installing the game from the Blu-ray into the Hard drive), it's another, rather long, story.

Exactly. So it must be the size of however many there are.

I figured since were on 1.10 that there was 10... whatever

Well once you Select to download the updates, the PS3 automatically starts downloading them starting at 1.01 which is to activate online functionality. And you can't download whichever ones you want. Not quite sure why I typed this but I believe I thought this may be useful for someone else if their searching around.

The 600mb is one individual update.

One friend of mine bought GT5 two days ago and he's been unable to play it online because the updates are just so damn slow he can't just leave the ps3 on for that much. He would reach 7 or 8% of the total in 4 hours. He's tried to do it by internet cable connection as well, and it's still too slow.

Could it be that PD moving from one place to another has placed excessive overload on the servers and it's making the downloads slower?
