How long have you left your ps3 on

5 months. No kidding. Well ventilated closet with fan constantly on.

Edit: I've noticed that sometimes after restarting a race I just finished the load screen withe the scrolling car and driver names start to shudder and then it never loads the track. It just endlessly scrolls the car/names even when the load bar is full. Just started happening a few weeks ago. Don't know if I'm wearing out the blu-ray leaving it on that long lol. I think it's time to save my game on PSN lol.

I usually just leave mine on all day.

I think the longest mine has been on is three or four days when i was doing an a-spec 24 hour race.

That's the game, not your PS3. Before 1.11, GT5 did that all the time.

a month but then again my drive died out last month =D
getting it fixed on Saturday!!!

A bit more than 24h...2 times.
Thank B-spec for that.
Not to mention a whole month of leaving Tsukuba 9h overnight until i got B-spec level 40.
My PS3's still alive and running! *knocks on wood*

Slim 320 been on about 7 months with 120mm AC fan directed across the back.

The drive on my original ps3 died. A month after I replaced it, I got the ylod. I had to buy a new ps3. I never left it on more than 6 hours, but I think improper ventilation was the problem.

I never turn my PS3 off. Before GT5 came out I used to leave it running Folding@home when I wasn't using it.......ever since GT5 I have been leaving it running the b-spec grinder when I'm not using it.

Why would you expect leaving it on would be a problem?

3 days. Played 24 hours of Le mans 8 hours a day.

Kaz just tweeted update 2.0 coming 3rd week october, after a week DLC will be release.

Weeks, I think. I turn it off if I'm going away for a few days but if I'm home I leave it running with a USB fan base on it.

I'm sure there's already a thread on this because I remember writing the exact same thing in it.

3 Months +, It was never off.
As it does more than just games.
IPTV, Movies, Music streaming, then games and demos.

For 1 week while I was partying in Tallinn...was running b spec remote racing all the while.

But why didn't you just turn your PS3 off unless you were away or don't go to sleep for a long time? But yes. It is multi-functional serving as a player of DVD, an alternative for the computer just as we broadly use in searching the internet and doing activities on there, like posting on GTPlanet - and so on. Not being sure if it's possible to leave posts via our PS3 too though.

I never turn off my laptop and I'm sure a lot less engineering work and tech went into that.

It's now on for almost 5 hours, another 22 hours to go

I purchased a Laptop cooling pad, it cost £13, not a lot really, its basically the same width and depth as a laptop but only about a centimeter thick, it has 2 fans side by side that blow upwards, simply plug it into the a spare USB port and your station will stay cool. P.S. if you have a PS3 slim go get a USB 2.0 4 port hub as well.

Hope this may help

Which ps3? I got that for my 40gig orginal ps3. Soo does not work. **** overheats after 15 minutes of play

You probably need to take that guy apart and clean out the dust if your overheating in only 15 mins. YLOD is near if you don't do anything.

I have a 250gb slim, my laptop pad always keeps it cool, i sit my ps3 forward on the pad so that the fans are blowing onto the heatsink thats located at the back of the ps3.

Also just so people know, theres no need to bin PS3's that die from YLOD, 9 times out of 10 all that has gone wrong is the heat sink paste that acts as a conductor taking heat from the processor to the heat sink block to be disapated has dried up from being hot for too long, the processor will now has no way to disapate heat and will turn off instead of burning out (Your PS3 is still only PC architecture after all and all processors have top limit heat settings) , go to your local PC store get your self a small tube of heatsink paste, clean the old dried up paste off of both the heat sink and the processor (they both must be very clean), put the two back together ( youll see how when you open the ps3 up its really not hard, no different to building or re-building a PC ) and your back in buisness again. YLOD fixed. if your not into PC's there will be tutorials on the web to show you how and if your PS3 is out of warranty you really got nothing to lose anyway.

Hope this may help save some cash for someone out there.

Yeah, I took my 40gig apart several times, cleaned it up and applied new heat sink paste. No luck. I was so frustrated.

You have to do it properly my mate does it to x box and ps3 with no problems!
But like I say you have to do them properly.

My PS3 80gig Fat (now has 500 gig :))
I had it running remote races (not just turned on, it was running the game) via widget for 3 months straight none stop never hurt a thing.

29 hours is the longest for the 24 hour for me. I done it with friends though so that's why. :D

24 hours due to the b-spec 24hours endurance races

I got the slim version, and have never had any heat problems 👍

The longest I've left my PS3 on for was about 6 hours.
I will never do a 24hr race in GT5 until that in race saves come out. I remember though a really long time back I raced the Nurburgring 24hr in GT4 on the PS2 (b-spec). Good times! Pity we no longer have the 3x fast forward in GT5. :(

Chances are that the processor over heated to the point where its burnt out, once thats happened all the heat sink paste in the world wont help

I have left mine on for days on end. I think turning it on and off, expanding and contracting everything inside as it heats up and cools down, probably does more damage than a well ventilated PS3 left on. And because my heat is controlled individually in each room, in the winter the heat given off by the PS3 helps keep the heating bills down...lol.

As for electricity, at the rate I pay it costs about 25-30 cents a day to leave on all day. I have left my computers on 24/7/365 for 14 years with no trouble at all.

Ventilate. I leave mine on for months at a time. Leave it on, or don't. Just make sure it's kept well ventilated (and away from heat vents, the sun, etc., but you knew that).

But I am curious to read what all the naysayers think about the picture of the linux farm?

Just 3 hours playing with BR Disc. Prefer not to leave it on for more time, to preserve the BR reader.
