Looking to run series and was wondering how many DTM cars have cockpit view in this game? Also, which cars can be brought up to DTM levels that have cockpit view?

All the DTM cars in GT5 were carried over from GT4 (some of them go way back to GT3), so they're all standards.

You can use the Lexus ISF Racing concept which is premium - which although technically not a DTM car, is eligible for some reason (It does look the part though!)

One of the lexus can be baught as premium from the dealer, it is not only the only premium but also the most powerfull of the lot. Still dont get why they didnt just implement the "new" CLK Dtm road goin version?

The Lexus IS F Racing Concept can be used for the series and is the only one with cockpit view.

none.
(Lexus IS-F Racing Concept is not a DTM car, no idea why PD made it usable in the dtm event)

A lot.
Most of the lambo's and Ferrari's, Lexus LFA etc.
Mainly level 12 and higher cars can be tuned to reach or even exceed the performance of a DTM car.

However, if you're looking to drive the DTM event you can only use DTM cars anyway.

By it's layout the Isf looks like a dtm car, at least the body work. But why make it compete. In the dtm? Easy answer so a Japanese car can win that series lol

I'm sorry guys, I didn't make this clear. I'm looking to host a series with the group I race with , I wasn't talking about the in-game DTM series. Wanted for all of us to have cockpit views and DTM cars so I guess I kinda blew the question. But the answers pretty much killed my hopes :(
I know currently Audi and Mercedes are the big DTM cars of choice, don't know the others. Was hoping that there were some cars that could be upgraded up to DTM. I think I saw some of the aero bits in the GT Auto section also. Cars and parts are to expensive for me to start putting different configs together and experiment so.... :(

Even though the Lexus is more powerful, it is also about 300 KG heavier. Also, DTM doesn't have to be exclusively German, as Alfa has a official car in the game, Though the Lexus is not officially a DTM car.:ouch:

Someone on mentioned on another thread that the IS-F racing concept is based on some European car and thats why its usable in the DTM championship.

It's not exclusively German, as like you said, the Alfa raced there. No problems with that as it happened for real, it's a little weird that the Lexus is elegible yet hasn't raced in the DTM for real, so it's reason for being able to hasn't really been explained. :\

I've done some runs with touring cars on Nurburgring and it's been very competitive and fun. Cars like the M3 GTR Race Car, RE Amemiya RX-7, CLK Touring Car, Abt Audi TT all make for a very good race together. You should still go ahead with your competition and just use standard cars.

There are also several JGTC cars that are premium if you don't mind going in that direction. They're still good cars and race competitively with the DTM cars. There are Lexus SC430s, lots of Nissans, the RE Amemiya RX-7 is premium and a couple others. You can get a good premium race going there.

No hard feelings but I think I never stated that in the Dtm were only german cars, mani different manufacturers came to the series and unfortunately left again. (ford us used a mustang, rover, alfa.....) good news is that BMW are returning (confirmed) 2012 i think and Opel is thinking about it, some people were even talkin about a chapanese car to come (might have been lexus but it were only rumors) so luckilly in the future we will see new BMW's gettin beaten by Mercedes 

The IS-F is based on a DTM car, as far as I know it's actually based on a DTM Opel Astra (or Vectra, can't remember), it makes sense that you can use it in the series.

Thanks for all the info guys. Guess I'll have to do some more investigating on the subject.

Standard cars , unfortunately, are out the question. We like to get the most "authentic" feel we know is possible (Let's not start the whole debate about cockpit vs bumper please lol). We all use wheels (Vast majority of us have Fanatecs) and want the cockpit view. As per your suggestion about the JGTC cars I've thought of that also. Haven't had much experience in them so I'm not familiar with how the handle and such but being that there seems to be a plethora of them it should do well for the comp. I'll probably be leaning in that direction. Wish we could test drive some of these rides. I think I have one that I won but it's probably a standard. Anyway I'll let you guys know how it's going once I get it up and running.

PS: If any of you guys use a wheel and want to get down with some good clean racing (well we try to be good at least lol) let me know. We are ...
WHEEL RACERS!!!

It was built by Toyota's F1 Europe group for DTM standards, but it never made it past the concept stage.

If you read the description they give you for the IS-F in the showroom, it says that it was built as an "experience mule" for the IS-F development team and to test some proposed parts, etc. When it was unveiled at an auto show, many people mistakenly thought that the IS-F would be raced in the DTM. I guess PD stuck it in the list of DTM-eligible cars just as a 'what if'.

The reason the lexis is allowed was the dtm was looking for nee manufacturers they had extended talks with Toyota and mg. Toyota agreed in principle but the car was just a prototype. The series is considering new rules that come into force when BMW join that will tie the series with super gt and maybe more v8 based series across the world

If cockpit view is the only choice then the JGTC GT500 cars obviously come closest to DTM cars (unless you want everyone to drive with the same car, the IS-F Racing Concept. Would make it boring though).

They are slightly better than the DTM cars; that includes acceleration and handling.
How they handle? They handle extremely well and as far as I can tell about the NSX's, they almost never loose traction. I drove the Raybrig NSX and even with traction control set to 0 it never became drifty in the curves, it's like glue (thats what makes it a bit boring to drive though).

Also the NSX GT500 cars have an amazing cockpit view : )

Maybe Its because, Kazunori (on one of his junkets) raced in a IS F at DMV Grenzlandrennen . Probably a racing series similar to DTM.
