I'll ditto Pupik. I've had more than my share, and done more than a few bad things with them. I'm over that now, and in a better part of life.
It all contributed to who I am today.
I met my wife working at a part time job. I wasn't looking and she was in a a five year relationship. We'd get together after work to talk about how her relationship had been falling apart for the last year. Enjoy a few beers and some fries. I always paid.
I'd gone through only one other relationship where she was worth marrying. Then I gave up looking for Miss Right, and found a few Miss Right Now's. Most of whom I regret.
Nice guys always finish last, but more often than not, last place will yield a good prize.
In retrospect, High school should be more about the grades, and building your future. When you're out of school, and have control of your life, ou can start looking.
Ditto on the gossip, but it can work for you. Girls will talk to each other when one gets flowers.
Most importantly, always have a back-up plan. When you take her to the movies, and they're sold out. Buy the next showings tickets, and know exactly what coffee shop you are going to take her to, while you wait.
Talk about pets. Her pets, not yours. It's more important to listen than to dictate to her. Talk about winter. Talk about where she grew up. Don't talk about anything that invovles fuel or a ball. Her clothes are a good topic. Where she shops (note that and for a present you can get a gift certificate to there, as long as it's enough to buy two of something).
When you take her out for an important date, bring her mother flowers, and some for her as well.
Good luck to you single guys, and gals.
Maybe I wrote too much...
