I use too when I first started, just because I thought the game was like GT2 and you had to buy them. Then I started drifting in GT4, therefore taking off the driving aids, I got use too it, and when I stated to race again, it just felt slow and didn't like it. Now I drive with all the driving aids off, and traction control set at 1. 👍

I turn them off on all cars, except for the ones with crazy wheelspin into 2nd or even 3rd gear. Then I set TCS at 2 to prevent myself from not getting out of the turns quickly enough. I can dose the gas a little, but with those cars I'm way slower without TCS on.

With [driving aids] turned on all the cars handle very much the same, and then all the fun is gone.
That's why I turn them off.

I leave them on in races I don't care about (like when I just want to finish to get the prize car). But ASM/TCS are always off in my favorite cars.

All 3 off, but I put TSC up on enduros to save tyres. IMO, having the aids on makes the car boring to drive because you know if you toss it into a corner the aids will save you most of the time.

I have both aids on at their default settings on all my cars. :guilty:

Give it a try with them off 👍 It makes the driving all that more realistic :)

lol ASM is really a joke in GT4 no matter what situation youre in it makes driving harder and steering nearly impossible. TCS i dont mind to much about, im not to fond of making strange mists :-|

Well I need them for WRS, Mike. Once I took them off I spun out like there was no tomorrow. :indiff:

Definitely get faster laps with ASM turned off.
For those talking about the driving aids saving you when you throw the car into turns, try turning them off and doing the same, your first experience of drifting, or a trip into the barriers, but at least you are making the decisions.
I turn them all off, but have to put a bit of TCS back on at times, wheel-spin with the pad is par for the course with me, too much of a throttle merchant I guess.

ASM always off, tsc off for lower power cars and a 1 for higher power; assists in standing starts, but low enough to allow wheelspin for drifting the corners (which i always do). but, me being who i am, i automatically assume that the game knows my preference and just defaults it off, so i often enter races finding that my car is acting like a bag of potatoes on a soapy kitchen floor...ok, really bad analogy, but i try sending something sideways into a corner, and what do you know...handles like mud. if anything, ASM would only ever be useful for me in removing understeer, but moot as i tune cars with understeer to make them more loose.

in the same manner, i have never chassy refreshed or rollcaged a used car; i like 'em with their quirks.

In GT3, I usually had all aids off, except on some cars I had TCS turned on at 2-4. But in GT4 I'm still not use to it, and I can't control oversteer, so on some cars at the moment I still have ASM on

I always have ASM off in every car. Traction control, I'll usually set to 1 (for cars with 100-300HP) or 2 (for cars with 300+HP). Sometimes I'll turn it up to 3 for really overpowered cars, but I don't really enjoy driving the LMP cars and the like, so I don't run them much anyway.

I can't figure out how anyone could drive with ASM on. I forget to turn it off sometimes when running a new car, and it only takes me a turn or two to realize my error. With ASM enabled at the default levels, getting anywhere near breaking traction with any tire will cause your car to slow down significantly. It's like losing a third of your horsepower when you're trying to power out of the corner. You just can't get the car to do what you want because the damn ASM system engages every time it thinks you're doing something wrong.

For those who like ASM, keep this in mind...you see how the AI drives in GT4. Do you really trust it to "help" you drive? :D

i usually turn asm and tcs down a notch or two by defaut, but as I familiarize myself with my car, I can turn it down even more.

I've never turned em' off before... do I get a prize if I do? :D

No, but you get a car that does what you tell it to, good or bad.

No aids on. If the car isn't balanced nicely to enjoy without 'help' I don't drive it! I don't really enjoy the ultra fast cars anyway.
