i still think it's not a good idea for him to get a rally only car... if it gets approved by the DMV, he won't be able to do more than a certain mileage with it in a year.

kinda hard to explain, but anyway...

because it's not a car that is sold here, it's classified as either a show or race only car (along with things like Lotus Elises, Nissan Silvia, Civic Type-Rs, etc...) if the car has a rally/rallycross function, it has to be road legal. The DMV puts a limit on total road mileage (not including the events it participates in) of usually 1500-2000 miles. i'm not too sure of the exact mileage thingie, but it makes it almost worthless to own such a car if you don't race it...

same thing for an early WRX/EVO... because they weren't sold here in that format, they're not legal, and need special attention.

some people tricked the DMVs by registering Silvias as 240SX, WRXs as normal Imprezas and everything... not exactly good if you wreck it...

Doug will most likely get away with it as a normal car.
