In fireworks, hit open. Browse to where the file is, make sure that the file types reads "all readable files" or just "tiffs"

Ya tried that too. Tried setting it to .tiff and any files. Not even a preview!!

On all my files, hitting open doesn't work, I have to double click each file I want to open. (in fireworks.)

Just so you know what is done with the product, I used to serve a framing crew with my Coffee truck, and I would have to get my tires patched every week or two, because the guys were have nailgun "Fights" across the beams. No joke.
