In Norway it's even higher. I think it was about 15 years ago we had the prices you got in america today.

Wow, guess I shouldn't feel so bad then. I think last time I filled up it was $2.23?

And you chaps in the UK pay road tax. Ouchable.

I have only visited UK briefly but I've always known that their freeways or for that matter any road ways are beautiful. I think I'd rather pay a road tax because it probably turns out to be cheaper than good ol us's philosophy. Here, No one gives a ****(in general), there's litter all over even though there's a $1000 fine. There's less flat road than potholes or cracks. To top it all off I think some idiot is throwing darts to see which street to pave because they repave the "good" ones (one's with the least cracks) while the ones that need it the most sit there and keep getting worse. All of this will add up and probably more expensive in the end. A "throw away world" is great isn't it? 👍 :rolleyes:

I pay about $2.50 for 91 octane here in CA (we don't even have 93 readily available!)

People need to stop *itching about gas prices and think about this:

You Think A Gallon Of Gas Is Expensive? Here are some comparisons to make you think and put things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ---> $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ---> $ 9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 --->$10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ---> $10 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ---> $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ---> $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ---> $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ---> $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 ---> $84.48 per gallon

and this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz for $1.49 and ---> $21.19 per gallon.

$21.19 FOR WATER, a natural resource! ....and the buyers don't even know the source.

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, Whiteout, or worse yet, PEPTO BISMOL or NYQUIL!

:D

Yeah, even though you are just joking I've seen this list before and it's laughable... other than water (even then you don't need avian).

In South Florida, it varies a little depending on the location of the gas station. Some towns charge more because the median income is greater, and others charge less beacuse the city's taxes on the station are less than some other place. Gas by major roadways and highways is always more expensive (sometimes as much as 10-20 cents a gallon). This "transportation cost" thing is funny. We have tank farms by Port Everglades, but gas stations by the beach and ports is always higher because the real estate by the beach is worth so much more.

Everyone's charging just upwards of $1.95/gallon for 87 octane, add 10 cents a gallon for 89 octane, and 20 cents to that for the 93 octane.

The gas stations by my house vary from $1.95 to $2.10, so it pays to pay attention. I've seen gas that was $2.399 for high-test, and it shows no sign of letting up.

I forget how good we have it in the U.S., but as long as the Saudis are paying less than a dollar a gallon, we've got that God-given right to be pissed off about it.

You've only been to the tourist parts then, I guess.

There was a pothole outside my work for 3 months 4 inches deep and 8 inches across. I hit a pothole on the M25 - a major motorway - which was over 4 feet across, and I hit it so hard it changed the track on the CD (but happily it didn't change the shape of my wheels). As for litter - don't get me started.

The UK drivers pay overall, over £6 BILLION a year in taxes specific to their vehicles, including duty on petrol. Less than 1/6th of this goes back into the roads (including footpaths and cycle paths).

Ya you need to drive there is no way around it. You just gotta bite the bullet and pay for it. It cost me 44 bucks to fil up my truck today.

Last time I checked, it was around $0.90/liter (canadian)
That comes out to $3.4068708(canadian) per galon. Converted, that's $2.1998830/gallon USD. However, at the rate costs are going up, I wouldn't be surprised if the rate went up to over a buck a liter.

What's shocking though is that Canada has some of the largest oil fields in the world yet our prices are STILL this high.

Yep - £105 (US$187) for sub 1.5 litre cars, £160 (US$285) for everything else for a year's road tax.
O/T.

Does the RX8 fit into the lower bracket?

well, around here Premium 93octane is about 2.18 to 2.22 US dollars per US gallon. two weeks ago it was about 2.02 per gallon.

So I guess they don't have so much of a philosophy like in the U.S. of a "throw away world"?? It still looks better to me than here? I guess I have to go back there again, I love those roundabouts too.

I have to say most of the roads where I live are clean and well maintained. I have been in areas where the roads are in disrepair and litter is blowing around, namely California.

I wondered the same thing but...

It's covered by the new A/B/C/D tax brackets used on new cars. If it was covered by the old system it'd be classed as a 2.6 (as the RX-7 is).

I paid 2.034 per gallon to fill up the Civic this afternoon.

From about a 1/4 - 1/8 in the tank, It cost total $15. This is getting really bad.

For Premium, (93 Octane) I think it's $2.15.

it's sad, the lowest price I can find around here was at $1.959 this morning, but after school it was $2.059...

So today was that stupid, "Dont fill your gas tank, and try to screw the oill companies" day. How many of you filled your tank today???

Anyone with me to pull some crazy fast and the furious **** and high-jack a semi loaded with gas?? Might last a few months/years!!

Everyone who didn't buy gas today will buy it tomorrow. Don't drive to work day would be more successful.

Gas goes bad after a while.

i pay 199 9/10 for gas, ive been low on gas for the last 3 days, i decided today to get some gas and ended up coasting up to the gas pump (good timing) ended up paying 31 dollars for my mommy's contour. and yes i am legal to drive now (ND driver's permit you can get at 14 and then you have to wait 6 months for license).

Funnier still is that 60% of gas is made synthetically (and locally) by an exchange listed company, yet they still charge the same price as if the total compliment of fuel was imported :irked:

I love it when they fill in the potholes and do such a crappy job that the next few weeks the pothole appears in the same place. Oh well at least I only paid £110 for roadtax this year rather than £160 on my old Scort. Actually i'm glad I don't have that car anymore for a 1600cc engine it was extroadinarily thirsty and it had quite a small tank.

$1.999/gal for 93

On my road trip to Mississippi/Oklahoma I believe the highest I paid was like $2.099/gal for 93.

When I passed the station this AM it was 1.949.
And at the moment, I have no cars that need the Premium. It's like 2.149 per gallon.
But milk at 4.00 a gallon kind of puts things in perspective as my sons drink about 6 gallons a week.

84.9 pence per litre at the station nearest to me. That's $1.51937 US, per litre. Multiply by 3.785412 and you get $5.75 per gallon. Wonderful.
