Well?

I get deja vu every couple of days.. it's freaky, because you KNOW what's going to happen next....

edit: oops.. can a mod please change "Has thread" to "This thread" in the last option?

I get it about once a month or so. I think it's a really interesting thing because 9 times out of 10 you're getting deja vu for something that's never happened to you before.

Don't get it terribly often - maybe 2-5 times a year.

I remember having a genuine premonition playing cricket when I was 11. I was standing at gully and had a clear vision of the ball heading towards me off the edge of the bat - sure enough, next delivery, it came at me exactly as I'd envisioned it. Genuinely scary.

Coach said to me later 'you made that look easy' - all I could reply was that I'd 'got a good clear look at it'...

You might want to explain what cricket is for all of the ten year old American members...
I only experience deja vu rarely, if around once a month can be considered "rarely." Of course, knowing what is going to happen next isn't deja vu. That would be, as vat_man indirectly pointed out, a premonition. True deja vu, the (usually) vague feeling that one has experienced a situation once before in one's life, is not nearly as rare. I only seem to form such a misconception when I'm extremely tired.

Then that means I get both very often... freaky.....

This one time... I was at school playing keeper*soccer*

A penalty was rewarded to the other team...

Then I started talking to myself...

When the shot was fired, I was already standing where the ball would hit....

I don't know if it's the same...

I got my Raliegh M-7000 bike coming up on a year ago. Recently the rear shock has gone to crap, so the bike store owner we deal with all the time said that he would call Raliegh and see what's up. They said that they had a shock and were shipping it to STL from Cali. I had a thought that this wasn't going to happen for one reason or another. Sure enough, Raliegh lost the shock, and said that they might have had another one somewhere in Cali, and if they couldn't find that then they would send the year newer frame to the bike place for me since my bike is still under warrenty. As sure as ever, I knew this wasn't going to happen. And it didn't. Raliegh ended up rudely talking to the shop owner and refused to do anything for me or him about the bike. So now I got to take it back, get my money back, and buy a better bike, if they have one.

Also, every time I am prying something with one of the little Snap-on pocket screwdrivers, I know that something is bound to go wrong and I will be hurt. But like an idiot I continue anyway. I've stabbed my hands many times thanks to that...

And, usually once a month, we go somewhere out to eat and have a bad, or horrific, meal. 1 month it was at Maccaroni Grill, my dad got, as he said, "Radically wrong shrimp", which looked ok...it was in noodles and stuff, everything looked good, then he stirred it and there was this garbage smell that nearly dropped us all. So my dad tried it, and nearly threw up from 1 bite. The waitress came over and said "This shrimp is disgusting". Then a month or so later we went to this Mark Twain place off of I-270 in Illinois. Place looked busy, it was around 7:45pm. We go in, and there's barely anyone there. So we see that they have an all you can eat chicken special, till 8pm. It was 7:50, and they said that that's over. So rather than start the meal arguing with the manager, my dad ordered a steak and my mom got a stake K-bob. Both came out extremely raw, un-edible raw, but the outside looked like it was cooked fine, or like someone had painted on the grill marks. So they send it back, and decide to get burgers. They came out cold, the buns very cold(like just out of the freezer), and the burgers "smooshed" when they bit into them. It also had this light grey complexsion and looked very freezer burned. At that point we gave up, got our money, and went home.

I get deja vu quite often, even though about half the time, it's not an actual event/situation I've been in, yet I feel like I have... it's quite an odd feeling, and is quite befuddling (I love that word!).

I also get premonitions occasionally, though I don't seem to visualize them very graphically... more like just knowing what's going to happen instead of playing it out in my mind. I know, it doesn't make much sense, but neither do I...

The point is, these things DON'T make sense, serious.

You can be like.. sitting there and know exactly what's going to happen next...

Like just tonight I went to play basketball.

I had a 'vision' that I could nail a shot from FULL COURT length, hook shot style.

Sure enough, I ripped that sucker right through the net, just the way I saw it. :scared:

It isn't nearly as cool as baffling. Especially since baffling has two completely unrelated definitions. I wonder if you had a premonition about me doing something of this sort. You probably did.

That's exactly what I get. I don't guess it's the traditional deja vu but I call it that any way. I'd say I get that feeling a few times a month, sometimes more often than ususal. It happens a lot to me during school. I'll just get the feeling that I've done whatever I'm doing before. It's hard to explain but that's about the best I could put it.

A deja vu is, in fact, the illusion of having already experienced something where it's actually being experienced for the first time.

This makes your post as moot as a phonebooth.

-- Anyway, I can't remember the last time I've had one. Which means my brains are way healthier than yours. Yours being all of you.

Ha.

That would be a linguistic misinterpretation due to my Dutch roots, sorry. :p

I knew you were going to say that. Heh. Deja vu. But, what if it was a linguistic misinterpretation due to your Belgian roots, what then, hmm?

I had a vision I'd be wrong about this...

"Moot as a phonebooth". Breaking out new zingers Chris?

It used to happen to me all the time, but only rarely now. I never knew what was gong to happen next, I'd just all-of-a-sudden remember what I was seeing, as if I'd been there before when I knew I hadn't. It seemed to coincide with some positive and emotionally charged event. I'm inclined to believe it's some minor chemical misfire in the brain.

Same for me,.. it's like a feelng of wait a second, I've seen/done this before,.... I've never had the feeling that I KNEW what was going to happen next though

The follow up question to this is" Have you ever had a jamais vu?"

I think that one fell on deaf ears. I don't think many people on her speak french. I bet half of them dont even know that deja vu is french let alone jamais vu.
