How to avoid boredom on enduros?

Try this one - during a pit stop, grab a cloth, clean your TV (windscreen!), put it back and jump back into your driving seat before you car leaves pit road. Helps boredom on the Grand Valley 300km with ease!

Just curious, I guess I can see people actually doing a 4 hour race, as I can play other games for about that long sometimes, but a 24hour race?

Its not really 24 hours right? I can handle 2 B-SPEC races (10+ laps) in a row followed by 2 A-SPEC races (5-10) laps, then I am bored and off to play something else.

So, how do you find the time IRL to play that long? How do you not go insane and kill your neighbors garden gnomes after 4 hours in, and from everyone is saying (its boring, watch TV, listen to e-books, etc) why even do it?

Given that there's two of them (four - two in A-Spec, two in B-Spec - though there's only two different ones) and they're both called "24 hour", how long do you expect them to be?

24 minutes :p

Accelerated time ftw!

Seriously, there's really not much I can do to alleviate the boredom other than pause the game and take breaks when necessary. When properly entertained through other means, I resume. Repeat until brain turns to mush or endurance race is finished, whatever comes first I welcome :D

Yeah but then there is always the risk of losing a 24h race then its not so FUN ;)

But your right.

What could possibly be MORE fun than running as hard as you can for as long as you can, struggling to maintain your concentration, and then realize after 23.5 hours that if you can't turn quality laps with no mistakes for the next half hour your opponent who won't have to stop again will catch you, or you won't catch him? Besides, there's no achievement in simply finishing a long race in these invincible cars.

It can be tough to keep that concentration though, you have to find things to strive for: lap times, tire conservation, contact-free lappery, anything to keep your mind occupied. And you have to take breaks of course to recharge now and then. OFC without saves there's no way my already YLOD'ed old fatty is going to see a 24 hour race. 4 hours at the Ring is more than risky enough, I'll leave going any further to the PC, which is more fun anyway, until I replace it.

Thats why I asked. GRID had 24 hours of LM but it was an accelerated time thing. I just cant imagine anyone wanting to play the same track for few hours, let alone 24! Maybe if there was a save point, and you can pick it up later, like do an hour here and an hour there, but 24h real time seems more un-fun than a game should be.

I think its neat that its in the game, but wow, I wont ever complete them.

The 4 hour races are 4 hours long. The 9 hour race is 9 hours long. The 24 hour races... well, they aren't short.

GT4 had three of them. Imagine the hours of fun with 5 other cars dotted about a 13 mile track...

Gah...no thanks. That sounds brutal. With save points, I would be excited, but life is too short without em!

Try doing it in real life, and having your engine blow with 3 hours to go while you're in the lead.

Yes it happened to me, and yes it sucks as bad as you can imagine.

"With save points, I would be excited"

It's just not an endurance race anymore, unless they went out of their way to make sure it was.

If you had to drive a 4 hour stint, couldn't pause, and when you saved it pushed the race forward to the next turn you'd have as driver, that would actually be extremely cool and much better than 24 hours of one person driving, which is no more realistic than save points. Or on the other hand, just have a B Spec driver take over for a few hours. So long as you couldn't just have them race the entire event for you.

At any rate, I agree with you that the right solution to this is to just forget that part of the game.

Who would want to do a 24 hour virtual race and LOSE? Has anyone actually done that? I'd go ballistically insane and never play GT again.

I actually effd up one night and bumped the controller (un pausing the game) while I took a two hour break. I got so far behind that no matter how well I did I couldn't catch up. Turned a four hour race into an 8 hour race! Oops.

that's fine. Looks like I'm the only one taking a gun to a knife fight.

Nope, I get as far ahead as I can in timed endurance races. Fastest car I can get. That way when I'm and hour ahead or whatever I can just leave the controller sit for the remainder of the race.

I've done that too. I raced so long and fast I found that I could take off like 20 min at the end and just wait. That was fun. Cars keep passing me while I'm parked on the side and I'm still first.

As others have said already, tune your car (engine limiter/tyres/ballast if need be) to get your car as close/equivalent to the same PP as the ones you are racing against, it makes it much more fun when you have a challenge rather than a walk-over 👍

If you can do that during a 9hr Tsukuba race then I'd be mightily impressed indeed!...:sly:
On a side note, I normally drive in game while drinking booze, I have been known to drink a 1 litre bourbon (with mixer) while doing so; in fact I am golding licenses while checking GTP and am rather drunk at the moment and I did Tsukuba 9hr drinking, could not have done so without (so boring otherwise)!! :D If only they would introduce saves for enduros, I would have Le Mans completed...

Can't drink & drive in real life, make the most of it in a game :p

I've done every Endurance Race exept the 9hrs and the 24hrs. Talking about A-Spec of course. Well, when it comes to laps (Suzuka was...not good) then u absolutely have to finish it some time. But in events like the Nurb 4hrs, i just entered in a Bentley Speed 8. I did some laps. I was 5-6 laps ahead. I stop, and park the car outside the track. Lol i continued after 20 mins or so. It was a 4hrs race, but i raced for about 2 hrs and 45 mins...

drive a competitive car, rather than smashing through the race with the fastest car you can possibly find.

A 4 hour endurance race will last for 4 hours, whatever you drive. May as well have some fun...
