Just wondering how you guys avoid boredom on enduros? just managed to scrape through the 60 lapper, and dont fancy trying the 4 hour one just yet.

but how do you guys stop boredom on these long races? :')

Use manual, sit in the car view of a premium, talk to someone or just try to overtake as many cars as you can:)

Drive a competitive car, rather than smashing through the race with the fastest car you can possibly find.

A 4 hour endurance race will last for 4 hours, whatever you drive. May as well have some fun...

Change the view up every so often. Turn the HUD off and only use the actual car's dashboard.

Keep an eye on your lap times if you're always trying to compete with yourself.but DON'T watch the race timer...
Imo,any race under 4hrs or 1000k is not an endurance race!

Yeah but then there is always the risk of losing a 24h race then its not so FUN ;)

But your right.

+1

That's just part of racing....

If you're finding GT boring, then why play it? I agree that challenging yourself is the best way to enjoy the races. Don't enter a race with a car that is superior to the competition.

I definitely would have to agree with Famine. Driving a car that is competitive with the AI will make all the difference in the world. Sure there is a chance of losing, but in all honesty that makes it much more realistic.

I usually have my other TV on for background noise. But I usually start to watch the TV then end up going off the track. It does help though since there's other things to do.

Check out the typical opponents list in the race home screen. You'll see the PP and HP of the cars you'll be competing with. Try to match those specs to maintain a competitive pace throughout the race.

Actually, in the 4-hour Nurb the opponents are 500-600hp and I race with a 390hp Integra Type-R RM and by the end of the 1st lap I lead by about 30 seconds. :D

Ive done the 4 hr nurburgring in a lotus elise with 250bhp, only won by a few seconds. Was an amazing race.

Who would want to do a 24 hour virtual race and LOSE? Has anyone actually done that? I'd go ballistically insane and never play GT again.

I'm all business with long races, so I have no time to fool around. I always feel I HAVE to win because I don't want to spend lots more time trying to win a race I could have won. The last time I remember losing an endurance race was back in 1999 or so, when I lost the Special Stage Route 11 endurance in GT1 (finished 2nd). I don't try to do anything dumb to have a lead wiped out.

It's like when people on Facebook or something mention being bored. If I'm bored myself, the first thing I wouldn't do is announce it to everyone. There should be nothing boring about trying to win these long-distance races. Of course... all of this is just how I feel.

I have, then I ran it again and won.

The claim that you've finished a 24-hour sim race is achievement enough, I guess :D

Why would you want to do a race you have no chance of losing? That seems boring to me. Why bother? I concede it makes sense if all you want is the prize car. But trying to stay near the leaders and having to work hard over the hours to win is much more fun than guessing when you'll lap everyone next.

Just ask yourself what you have won if you just destroyed the competition with an overpowered car. XP Points and some credits that's it.

There is nothing to lose except the fun of a challenging endurance race.

I know its sad but i do maths :p i think: right how many laps will these tyres do? How many did i do last time and how long do i have left on this stint? How long is each stint? How long is the whole race left (if its a lap dependant race)? How many stints do i have left?

This takes a surprising amount of time as generally one lap finished before you're done (unless its the ring) so the maths changes all the time. Thats how ive done the indy 500 4 times (2 fgt 1 zo6 rm and 1 X2010) you jist dont get bored because the maths is in seconds not just numbers :)

As for the ring, well i'm rubbish there so i focus on my laps :p coz i always mess up lol

Couldn't agree more. 👍

I'd say for long enduros (4hrs or more), try to over power and out lap the Bot-cars and once you start feeling tired or start making big mistakes, park the car on a big sand trap, take a rest, make a sandwich or something and use up the extra time/laps you have accumulated by out lapping the others. Once you run out of time or you feel refreshed, get back on the road and hammer out a lead back up again.

You could use a car that would be a bit of a challenge/competitive, but have a set of racing softs available if you are feeling like it is slipping away...if you are worried about "wasting" your time doing the race.

I usually just set a goal to beat my previous lap. That's actually how I learn how to drive on GT2 - I'd run Time Trials for 40 laps or more to try to get that perfect line or master a given car. I don't have time for that anymore, though :indiff:

If you're using...
- a DS3
- automatic gears
- a stupidly overpowered car with hard tyres

...change the button assignments on the DS3 to incorporate the Race Assist menu. Start with traction control quite high, then when you're safely in front, bring up the RA menu and turn TC / ABS / whatever else down. Battle the car for a while. Battle its face.

I came close!! GT4 LeMans 24hr I won . . . by 10.8secs :scared:

In GT4 I never did any Bspec racing. And after 20+ hours of the LeMans race (2 weeks real world) I got a little bored and thought I'd try this Bspec thing out. I had a lap and 2/3rds lead. I had no idea that the Bspec Bob would be a totally inexperienced driver.

He did 2 laps, before I -virtual world- ripped his skinny ar$e out of the car. The first lap went quite bad I thought cold tires was why he messed up a few corners plus I figured I was giving him the wrong driving instructions. He was now only just over a lap in the lead but I let him continue. The second lap was horrendous!! He put the car off in every corner, deep into the sand traps. Crashing on the straight sections of track. He was beached in the sand in the Porsche Esses when he lost the lead of the race.

I was screaming at the TV for him to get back to the pits and out of my car. I then had to knuckle down and apply all of my effort to regain the lead. I did with a few laps to spare and was able to drive cautiously the remaining laps to bring it home with a safety cushion of 10.8 seconds

ive used the lotus elise and the honda integra both race modded on the nurburgring 4 hour and they only hold a small lead. Only problem is they make up for that small lead in the fuel consumption, i havent done it in a while but my elise would do 10+ laps of the nurburgring before needing a pit, compared to an X1 which does 4 laps, possibly 5 off a tank.
