From past experience, you need to start off using the provided driving line, and then as you learn and become comfortable with each track just turn it off and keep improving 👍.

To start with follow the AI cars around the track. They take the correct line, although not always the fastest, you can work on improving it when you have a better knowledge of the track and more confidence.

Assigning priority to straights and corners and practice. Most important corners are the ones leading to fastest straights. The best line is what gives you best exit speed from those corners. In case of corner complexes the important thing is to find the line that gives you the best entry for the last corner of the complex so you again get the best exit speed.

google for the track name and race line.
youll get mostly some pdfs with an explanation etc. There are corners/corner combinations which have different lines depending on car, weather etc. though, but i guess this nothing for you yet.

General rule of thumb, start out wide, gently turn in to the corner so you slide over the rumble strip and smoothyl accelerate and turn out wide again.

watch some F1, they hit the apexi pretty nice!

This, and the License tests Stormbringer suggested. The License tests taught me "Slow in, Fast out" cornering theory, and overtake techniques, like late-braking. And CAM's suggestion is great, as well. Turning driving line on will give you an impression and visualization of how the track should be negotiated, however not the best and fastest. But once you're familiar with the track, just turn it off and try to go through the track at your own paces, according to your driving style, type of vehicle, etc., and learn how to approach the track more quickly w/o any incidents.

Good luck 👍 Make sure to not strain yourself. Take your time with the track -- learn your weaknesses on it, and overcome them :)
