The title says it all, grid start races I’m usually losing 2/3 places before the first corner.

Any tips/advice? Is it best to have Tcs on for the start?

Tc2 always works for me then floor it

I use TCS 3 then turn it off before first turn. I tried multiple times to not use it, but nothing can beat TC for a stop start in that game.

and what if you're racing with TCS blocked. I tend to have this issue also!
In these situations I used to hang around at 4-5k RPM. When the flag drops I momentarily go full throttle so the engine doesn't bog down, then throttle modulation to keep the wheelspin in check

Now that any throttle modulation above 50% is useless for my pedals I just try to imitate what TC does

I'm not convinced TCS for standing starts is faster. I was setting TCS to 1 for standing starts but noticed that on one car I chose it was much faster to leave it off. I feel leaving it off also gives you a bit more control.

Since then, stuff it, only rarely use TCS for starts. Personal preference only of course.

Of all the vehicles I've grid started with, Civic, F1TA, TT Cup, Drift BRZ, etc TCS On was always *miles* faster.

The only time I can think of to leave it off is a 4WD car, or, a car that doesn't have enough power to create wheelspin.

Group 2 & 3 cars are faster starters without TCS. Hover around 51-52% throttle input then when the lights go out, hold it until you're going 50-60km/h then full throttle and shift to 2nd gear.

It's been awhile since I've used this method so not sure if this still works under current game physics, but try engaging full throttle in 2nd gear as the green flags wave, then when the RPM drops to around 35-45% shift down to 1st gear maintaing full throttle. It also helps to know the torque curve of your vehicle to find the optimal spot for downshift.

Logic here is to load the rear tires through weight shift, then take advantage of the grip.

I could go on all day about this as I race in the snail league and all our starts are grid with no TC. Every car is different. Some start 1st gear and the Honda rc? you start in 3rd. The BMW z4 you floor it right when the count down ends, other cars you launch at 5k. It's all practice.

It may sound strange but don't rev the engine as you start. As soon as the flag drops floor it and you will gradually build up speed with no wheel spin. Pretty fast too since most others will be spinning a bit. Works for everything I've driven so far

This has turned out to be quite an informative post, however somewhat mixed in terms of what to actually do... looks like I've got a few things to try out!
