Btw, i haven't watched the vid but I assume it's the 'get awarded special paint and quit/restart till you get what you want trick' ya?

I did this earlier on (without buying 30 karts) and got a chrome after being offered 3 pink/2 dark blue/2 white and 1 black matte chips.

It's real easy to figure out. It's one of the few levels of customization available in the game. People want that.

Why did PD bother to put effort into this while they could have spend it on the 1000 of things that actually are important.

Not to mention that you need all of them for the award.

Not gonna ruin my PS3 or my savegame by doing this over and over again.

This isn't going to decrease the value of the matte paints at all. You will still only get one matte paint chip per 30 cars regardless, but now you get to choose your color if your are willing to spend the time. It will decrease the value of the chrome a lot though. Good thing I traded my chromes already.
