I do not see the value of this silly trophy, and it could get tricky later on, so do this first and get it out of the way by buying 4 karts. You can always sell them, or just restart.

This was raised in the car wash thread but I thought it deserved its own place.

Your tip might be the fastest one, but for anyone that wants the Honda Civic to be their first car, this is an alternate way to get it:

Follow the steps underneath to the letter. It's especially important to wash your car after the first race as you can't wash it twice in a row. In other words, a clean car can't be washed.

- Buy a Honda Civic Type R (EK) '97 from the Dealership - 19,980
- Finish in 3rd place in Sunday Cup - earned 2620 Cr.
- Wash you car at GT Auto - costs 50 Cr.
- Finish in 4th place in Sunday Cup - earned 2460 Cr.
- Wash you car again - costs 50 Cr.
- Go to Tuning Shop/Parts Shop -> Body/Chassis and buy a Carbon Bonnet - costs 5,000 Cr.

A much easier way:

Buy the Premium Miata for 17k
Buy the light weight windows in the tuning shop for 3k.
Drink beer.

Like all the other methods works easiest on a new game.

Do you get a car or anything for the trophy? Or is it just a trophy?

I was wanting to get the Miata so I will try InfiniIV's way. Plus, his includes beer.:sly:

Dumb question:

Penniless trophy is when you are left with no monetary credits in the games right? :dopey:

Just ask a woman near by, she will advice you and calculate for you how to spend all the money... shopping is second nature to them... 👍

What's the point of getting trophy's anyway? Just to say you did something? Do people actually waste their time on trophy's? I guess it's like me trying to play WOW... just a waste of my time.

wish I had seen this a few hours ago, I'll now have to do some number crunching to round off my 25456 Cr or what ever nightmare of a number it is now :(

GT5 keeps track of it in the profile screen, so if you open it up and want to see all 100% one day you have to do it I'm afraid.

Ur calculation really makes no sense! haha

Following this surefire formula you should have it in no time.

Nothing wrong with that method whatsoever.

Just dont do what I did, buy one kart (5,000) and a Daihatsu Crapola Whotsis (15,000).

The Daihatsu is so **** it should be outlawed in games.

You'll need a lightweight car to enter the beginners "lightweight" race. The Daihatsu would do fine.

I also had already a nighmare number.
Waited for a used car to sum up to a total of ...00 or ...50.
Than did some tuning.
But it included some maths :S

I just started with a cart 15k left then when I got the car from the first driving test I went and upgraded it a bit and took me right to 0. I did spend a few minutes looking at parts and prices before deciding what to buy but it was fairly easy to spend exactly 15 k while upgrading the Mazda.

It's quite easy to find a used car ending in whatever digit you have, then try and work the last 3 digits to 750 or 500, the rest will be easy then. I got the Penniless from about 460,000 (most on a Murcielago), think it through and it's not an issue, though the earlier you do it, the easier.

Did this except I substituted single malt for beer.

I do feel a bit bad that my first car was chosen entirely to get a bronze trophy out of the way. The Mk1 Golf GTI in the Used Dealership would have been my other choice.

Here is a tip on how I did it. Bought my first car, did few races, bought another car that got my cash to end in 00 or 50. Once you do this you can go the tune and gt shops and spend the cash. Trick is getting your money to even out at 00 or 50 Cr.

Much harder to do than those already pointed out.

yea, did sunday cup 4th place and 3rd to even it out, there is is some used cars with endings lik 64 an 78, stuff like that would have been worse. did incure damage on my r8 worth 100k so no I am indeed penniless! If your cash ends in a multiple of ten, 2 sunday cup races should be enough to sort it out if you add it up right

I can't get it to 00 or 50 at least.

you know what happened?

I got 3 credits left. Idk htf that happened.

I just did it with over a million credits. Bought the mclaren, 2 used ones to get the last 2 digits to 50, then tricked out some cars and did car washes once under 250. Easy.

Last night I read about this Trophy, so I decided to go for it as well. My method was similar to Sureboss'

I have already raced up to level 15, so my credit balance was about $472,006 (I don't remember the exact amount).

I looked in the used car lot for cars that would reduce the odd $6 amount and saw a Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec N1 R34 '99 ($37k) and a Mazda Atenza Touring Car ($94k) that had the required digits so I purchased both. After these purchases, I had $340,160 exactly.

So knowing that I would shortly need a Ferrari (don't we all?) for some Italian races, I went to the Ferrari dealer and picked up a Ferrari 430 Scuderia '07 (for $302,500). This got my credits down to $37,660.

I then took a look at the Subaru dealership and found a beautiful Subaru Impreza WRX STI '10 for $37,380, so I handed over my cash. This got me down to $280. Almost there!

I didn't know of anyway to spend $280, so I did some quick calculations and decided to earn a bit more cash.

I hopped into my Daihatsu OFC-1 Concept '07 and ran two races at the Beginner Lightweight K Cup Series, and twice received the $4,860 prize winnings. This increased my credits to an even $10,000.

Next up was a trip to the Tuning Parts store, where I picked up some Dirt tires for $3,000 and some Sport tires for $7,000.

My credit balance went to zero, and I'm Penniless!!

The Trophy is mine!

Enjoy the racing,
GTsail

Funny that I just did this (I'm at level 16).

I discovered this trophy yesterday, and although I'm not a trophy guy, since I had around 500k+Cr and knew I would have to buy a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, I decided to give this some thought... It would became easier than it looked.

Bought a second hand car to get my cents round to zero (it happened to be a AE86 SS), bought a Gallardo, a 458 Italia and some tuning parts for my Mini and voilá: Penniless

I only found out about the trophy after being a bit into the game...I didn't have much money, so I decided to strategically make myself go broke.

I brought two garbage cars from the used car lot, which left me with exactly 850 credits. 3 oil changes for various cars, and a couple of washes later, and I was broke. Huzzah!

I missed my opportunity to get this trophy early on. I just have just put a tune on the miata I bought to kill the last 1000cr. Anyway, ended up with ~7M. I just got the FGT, and figured now is a good time to empty the account. After the purchase and the engine/chassis refresh I was down to just under 1M.

Now I have to play the Price is Right to even off the hundreds, tens, and ones digits to 000 or 050, and then get to work buying some more cars.

I also missed the opportunity early on but when I wanted a Pug 908 I bought one, with the remaining money I bought various spare tyres/parts/oil change. With only a few dollars left I found out you really had to have 0 credits. Considering I couldn't spend the couple dollars I had left I checked the values of some used cars and managed to find two that if I sold them both it would round it would even up the loose credits (to the nearest 50 credits). I then spent that money and got the trophy.

Exactly...looks like I'll end up with some stupid, slow, and outdated Silvia or Mitsubishi that just happens to have a price that ends in ,X27 or ,X77.

Anyone know how to get rid of 1 232 Cr?

Want to get the Penniless Trophy now that im almost broke anyway ;)
