How to improve SR

Hi, apologies if I've missed an obvious thread...but I'm trying to find out the best way to improve my SR.

I've been racing online for a week and the first few days were really enjoyable - middle of the pack, nothing special but competitive.

Since the Daily Races changed I started to do the one make La Sarthe race and for about 4 or 5 races in a row I kept getting hit / taken out going breaking into the slow corners after the longer straights. That would be bad enough but I kept getting big penalties when this happened, especially if I then hit the car in front as a result. The result is my SR plummeted to D and then the quality of driving standards has got worse and worse, I keep getting taken out more and more and am now an E SR.

I can literally be overtaking someone down the straight and people just barge you into the wall.... So frustrating that I nearly always start on pole but I just get taken out at the first opportunity and keep incurring penalties / reduced SR as a result.

I desperately need to raise my SR quickly so I can race against like minded people. Is the best thing just to let everyone pass me at the start and drive round at the back? I've tried this a few times but when those nearer the back spin and I pass them, they just take me out by going full tilt into a hairpin.

Help!

From experience one tip I would give is pick your battles carefully.

One race should give you an idea where you stand. If you're comfortably winning, keep going. If you're at the back, more practice is needed. If your SR is tanking, stay away from that race or find ways to avoid repeating mistakes/incidents.

If the same thing happens the second race, etc... it falls into the "fool me twice, shame on me" category and you'll wish you could reset and delete that race.

Assume all SR loss is your own fault. Because you're the only one that can change anything about it.

One thing to keep in mind, it's much easier to gain SR in the daily C than the other two. The SR point total in the daily C is 3 to 4 times that of the A and B races. Besides that, A and B are nothing but frantic first and final laps, while C has a period of calm and usually doesn't start off with a crazy dash either.

You make the same amount of SR points whether you drive up front of way behind. Overtaking doesn't give you points, only clean sectors. Staying on the road is most important to gain SR, do not touch walls.

Any contact with another car costs SR, a lot more than it costs to lose one sector's SR points. To gain SR it's more advantageous to drive yourself off the road to avoid a 'missile'. One trick to reduce SR lost when someone does bump you is to tap a wall or go off road. This will give them a penalty instead of you getting the SR Down message on screen, You still lose SR for the contact, yet way less than when you get the SR Down notification.

Thanks - very helpful 👍

I had the same problem this week with La Sarthe, I did a few races at Mt Panarama, I didn't bother qualifying so started at the back and stayed out of trouble, took maybe 4 or 5 races to get back to blue s

All - thanks again for your advice. I didn’t bother with La Sarthe and did Mount Panorama for a few days - built my SR from E to C including taking my first win and have now been racing the Daily Gr.3 race in Tokyo and now up to B SR. Makes such a difference as I can now race against people who want to race cleanly and so I’m enjoying GT sport so much more

Thats the problem with the SR rating, its not a value of how you race other cars, its just a value the shows you can run laps without hitting the wall. You can start at the rear in every race and not pass anyone and stay out of trouble to get your SR up.
