Hi there, New to this forum so be nice :)

I have been playing GT5 since the minute it came out, But im finding it hard to make good money. I have only ever reached 5million. How does anyone get up to 20million?

Any ideas?

Seasonal events, special events, & B-Spec. Once you get to the Endurance races in B-Spec, and rerunning events to try to get to Level 40, getting to 20 Mil Credits isn't too difficult.

Grinding or exploits

Otherwise stop spending money. The less you spend the more you save. See if you can borrow a car from a friend to do that one-make race or seasonal. Generally the people with legit 20mill have a very small garage.

Yep, B-spec helps a lot. I got A-spec to about 22, then started B-speccing.

You dont have to buy new cars for the races as you already have them, and now my B-spec is 24, my A-spec is 29 and I've got my cash to just over 11 Mil.

You can let your B-spec run races while you get on with your other chores at home and just collect the cash.👍

Seasonal events are a nice boost too.

^^^ What he said. The Dream Car Championship gives you just over 1MM credits for all five golds + championship. If you have about an hour of being semi-busy, you can run it on B-Spec with an X2010 and all you'll have to do is just remember to be there and hit the NEXT RACE button.

American Championship (INDY) on A-Spec is the fastest credits/min event you can replay over and over. There's a thread on grinding it with a NASCAR to see who's the quickest, participating in that can help ease the boredom. 👍

In a a spec, do the american championship race on indianapolis over and over. I do this with the GT spec II test car and make about 2 million per hour.

That's EXACTLY what I do. Same car too. The Ford GT Spec II Test Car is definitely the best car for this race and it takes me about 3 minutes 35 seconds to earn 117,000 credits. That and the seasonal events is how I built up to 20 million. Lots of grinding!

Also, now that I'm at 20 million, it's a lot easier to buy up the cars I want in the game. I buy them, then grind until I'm back up to 20 million. I won't end my day with GT5 without 20 million in the bank. If my wife or daughter want to watch TV, then I B-Spec the same race, set a kitchen timer to 17 minutes and then watch regular TV while my Bob earns money for me.

Race a lot.

A lot of people are saying Indy in American Championship BUT if you have an X1 racing Like The Wind at Indy it is FASTER overall. Because you can run the race up to 30 seconds faster or more you can get a lot more credits within a certain amount of time

Nah, the american one makes more money, yeah you run the like the wind race about 40 seconds faster with the x1 but you also make 33,000 less each race.

It makes you more money PER race obviously. BUT In a span of an hour you will make more.

Not true, do the math.

I calculated it and American Championship gives you a bit more money in a set time point.

it's emotionally much easier though, I'd rather make 1.3 mil having an easy time than 1.5 mil being suicidal watching the slowness of that stupid ZR1

I suggest you try other cars, for example the Viper Team Oreca or the Ford GT Race Car. Cheers. :)

Okay I just did the math again. Per HOUR, American Champion is more money. In an hour you can finish 22.7 races in the X1 getting you 1,906,800cr verses 16.5 races in the American series getting 1,930,500

The times is based on a total time of 2'38" in the X1 and 3'38" in the Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car

Originally I had the calculation done off of the normal spec car, and was at around 3'42 and you made more off the Like The Wind. I'm not sure what the Team Oreca Viper does, or what people can manage in their ZR1 RM, but I think the Ford GT Test Car is the best bet. I didn't have it fully broken in, either. It was only at about 810hp so there is a few seconds to gain, at least.

Hey I been doing both and after about the fifth race i get really tired, please tell me you guys are not doing the events an hour at a time???

The first 5 million is the hardest to make. After that it grows at a much faster rate. It feels like it took me weeks to get to 5 million, but from 5 to 20 was just a few days.

doup cars that you need if you need to save money, but its not needed.

I was never held back by money, only exp.

I usually grind the money myself through A-spec. If I get tired, I'll just let my B-spec drivers take over. He'll do some championships or the Dream Car championship Indy track.

LOL ... saw a comment further up that said "...generally people with 20mil have very small garage..." LOL ... I gotta differ LOL. I've been to 20mil twice now and have over 150 cars ... and yes it is all legit, I only WISH i knew how to cheat, because of how boring it was to get that amount of money and cars etc. Basically, you gotta grind like crazy almost non-stop - PD didn't make it easy in the slightest.

Not only did they make it so you need to grind to truly earn anything, but they made it so the tracks that pay the most are also the MOST BORING. PURE AGONY, but at least now I have most of the kewlest & fastest cars in the game. In a wierd way I guess I feel kinda proud that I managed to get where I am in the game, just sad it ate up so much of my free time :-( Thanks PD for taking the ENTERTAINMENT value out of playing, and making it such a grind.

Oh and love the MANY FLAWS - I'd hate to see how many flaws it would have if the PD president WASN'T a perfectionist ... LOL :)

Well, how does that make sense? I'm earning money to buy cars - what else? Why should I want 20mill and have an empty garage?? (scratches head)

THIS my friend is your answer: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157716

The only thing you really need is a X1, the possibility to enter the extreme series/dream car championship, Indy-10laps and a rubber band, with which you focus the right analog stick upwards, that's the only thing I use at least and it works in 95% of the cases, sometimes I have to correct the car but that is rare.

I'm level 27/24 in a-spec and b-spec respectively. On a good 5 laps I run 3:35 and with a few errors 3:38 in my ZR1 RM at Indy. Its all about setting your front downforce for turn-in and your rear downforce for top speed without being loose in the straights and spinning out in the turns. (Mine is set at 35/45 with a 261mph top speed)

I'll earn my x1 when the time comes, but in the meantime its such a bore doing Indy repeatedly so I'll grab some weak cars and attempt other extreme events for a challenge to ease the grind. Also taking a break to redo some licenses/specials is helpful.

I do the same, If I'm not up for playing and around the house, I put b-spec on Dream Car Indy, Set the timer for 15 minutes. 👍

I only have 9 mill at the moment and sitting at 230 cars. I have hardly sold ANYTHING and I haven't given a lot away

Unfortunately you're right the ZR1 RM handles like garbage compared to a lot of other available cars, even after trying out different tunings. Try something else, maybe like one of the Ford GT LM series or the Dodge Viper GTS-R... Any of these easily wins this race without much effort.

Hey I been doing both and after about the fifth race i get really tired, please tell me you guys are not doing the events an hour at a time???

I am... yes it's boring but I've finished all the races that I'm going to do in GT5 (except the extremely insane endurance ones that I'll never do. Not at my age...)

The only thing left for me is collecting cars and driving them... All the races are gold, the license tests are done up to S8 and the special events are done up to my level. I'm at 20 million credits, which I earned by grinding... and now I just buy cars from the dealerships and grind the American Champ Indy until I'm back up to 20 million.

Yesterday I bought a race car for almost 4 million credits from the UCD and had it all back in under 2 hours.

If they had a better way to make money in this game it would be great, but there isn't. The Seasonal Events are a great way to make money and they aren't boring at all but you can only do them once (and make money). So what other choice is there?

Also, I disagree with the post above that states that people with 20 million credits have small garages... I don't! I've had 20 million credits for a couple of weeks now. All I do is buy cars and grind back up to 20 million credits. I currently have 282 standard cars and 144 premium cars. That's 426 cars total. Does that sound like a small garage to anyone?
