Hi I was racing in my team Peugeot LMP car and we did 50laps on Daytona me and my friend had the same car same tyre (racing soft) and driving at the same speed but his tyres lasted 3 laps longer any idea why this was cheers in advance.

I don't run LMP nor Daytona; so unfortunately I cannot help you there.

Perhaps someone else can though 👍 good luck!

Was he drafting you most of the time? I learned alot about the wearing of tires when i raced NASCAR online.

Conserving tires by drafting behind the lead cars and applying part throttle to hold speed around corners = longer tire life.

When you are at full throttle in a corner it burns off the tires faster regardless of traction. Stress on the tires = more wear

Setups have a hand in it as well but unless your car is "poorly" setup i.e extreme camber or toe it won't have a large enough affect on tire wear.

Also how smooth you are at holding your line and avoiding "line break" i.e sliding up the track and turning harder to come back down, has an affect on tire life.

Just a couple ideas.

No he was not drafting

Then either your setup sucks or your driving sucks. Next time you do this tell him to put the same tune on the cars and then see what happens.

GT5 does not pick favorites when it comes to tire wear.

Smooth is the key. I have raced in 60 lap races where a few select drivers have mastered care for their tires. I had to pit after 24 laps and they went over 30. I lost by a few seconds because I had to pit 3 times to their 2. Try a few laps with comfort tires and listen carefully. Make adjustments to your driving style and if needed to your tune.
As we see clearly in F1, some drivers (Kimi) are wizards at saving their tires and usually finish higher up that those (Hamilton) who burn them down to the core.
