Well, I just discovered something by accident while mucking about between my main and alt account. You can share as many cars as you like! Here's how to do it:

Unshare all cars.

Now manually save the game.

Now share 6 cars that you want to share.

Quit the game without saving.

Reload the game. Now, PSN has remembered the 6 cars that you wanted to share, while your save file contains no shared cars.

Share 6 more cars.

Quit game again without saving, reload, rinse and repeat as many times as necessary.

The great thing about this is that you and your friends can drive the same car at the same time.

Note: this glitch has its own glitch: Viewing your profile from the account that's doing the glitched sharing causes some kind of sync operation with the servers and removes all the shared cars.

Somewhat related.

I had my RM'ed Impreza shared for online friends. I was online last night racing with friends and decided to use it for a race, The game was Ok with my selecting it and using it.

On starting the game today I noticed that the Impreza was the car I was currently using. I checked and it was still available for sharing.

I haven't tried this, but I presume If you want to use a car that you have shared you can go into your lounge, select it, leave the lounge and then use it for A spec or B spec.

:o

Seems legit. Can anyone confirm? This could be great for alt accounts.

even if this is legit, there is no value to using it on alt accounts. you have to be online for the car to be shared. i'm on an alt right now trying to do seasonal races with my shared cars and alas, no dice. so if there is some way without having 2 ps3s i will stand corrected.

I just checked. Impreza is Shared for Online in my Profile. Went into Community and into my Lounge. Selected the Impreza, Left the room and the Impreza is my current car. A little time consuming but at least you can leave the car shared for others to use while using it yourself.

This works with B-Spec drivers as well. Eventually, my 'ghost' driver disappeared though, so I wouldn't try this with cars you would like to keep. ;)

I presume my method is safer if I have a car that I want to use even though it is shared online

How is letting your friends drive your cars in any way something bad?

Ah, whatever. This "borrowing glitch" just seems a little bit... hmmmmm... off-color, even compared to duping. I have my limits

Although, on second thought, I can't really find a good reason to call it bad. Other than that it would seem to be a huge pain, that is.

Also, if having a "pro-duping agenda" is the charge, I stand guilty, and I'm proud of it. My post was made in sarcasm/pessimism, or something like that. I don't really remember.

I don't like the sharing method right now so maybe this is something to try out. BTW I don't dupe, I just like to share some of the cars that I like/are special and also drive the occasionally.. I do have an alt account, for special paints.. just because that system is broken...

but just call me a cheater and ignore what I said ;)

Last thursday night during that hour-long period between 10pm and 11pm eastern when they were doing the 1.07 update I was looking at my profile in GT5 and noticed that all of my cars were in my shared garage. The GUI was setup so that all the cars were in a single row and it was side-scrolling (with either 3 or 6 shown across at any single time, i don't remember). This only lasted for a few minutes, but it was proof to me that it would be possible to share all cars.

Er, you don't need to be online to share a car. My alt can access every single car that my main account has, if I had enough patience to set the whole lot online, that is :D

I have realised that my sharing method is slightly over-complicated so I'll edit the OP. No need to set it up by sharing 6 dummy cars first. Just unshare all cars and manually save. Now your save has no shared cars. Re-load and set 6 cars online, and quit without saving.

edit: add me on PSN for proof if you're an unbeliever!

Yo dawg, I heard you like glitches so I put a glitch in your glitch...

Seems this glitch isn't that useful after all. I just discovered that viewing your profile from the account that's doing the glitched sharing causes some kind of sync operation with the servers and removes all the shared cars.

So, you may as well forget it unless you can somehow condition yourself never to view your own profile while connected to PSN.

Okay, so how come that when I share 6 cars on my main account, go on my ALT account and go over to "online" cars, there are none there? Unless the shared cars are somewhere else?

Billy, he's correct. The sharer does not need to be online in order for friends to use their shared cars. I do this with my GTP account all the time.

has anyone figured out if you loose cars like this?

And what do you mean thsi works for B spec drivers as well. You can only have 6 at a time in Gt life anyway? I dont see what you mean.

Holy thread bump Batman!

Does anyone know the quickest way to quit GT5 without the autosave kicking in? I'm currently switching off using the I/O button on the front of the PS3 but does anyone have a better solution?

Thanks for the info its a great help, another way to overcome PD's restrictions!

Press the PS button and select "Quit Game"? I haven't tried this glitch in months - is there now an autosave point that needs to be bypassed?

I have edited the OP for clarity btw.

Awesome

That works

If you return to the main game menu after exiting the garage it will autosave

;)

EDIT: this is important: it's possible to "break" onling sharing for a particular account, I kept adding and adding cars and then eventually everything online disappeared for that account, not only the cars that were shared but also the "boxes" where the cars are supposed to go disappeared also, no sharing, nada. Gone.
