How to use 'Guest Garage' in arcade mode

How does Guest Garage work? From what I understand, it lets you load a car from a second memory card in addition to a car from the Home garage. But when I tried it (with two cards loaded, different game on each) the feature seemed to be locked out. Does this need to be "unlocked" by winning or am I doing something wrong.

I'm a newbie here, but I searched and read the FAQ and didn't find anything.

By Loading Guest garage I think you just can use one car from the guests garage to race, oppessed to one of your cars.

This does not need to be unlocked.

That's what I figured, but the option is locked out (red circle with cross) and doesn't let me select it, although Home Garage is available.

You didn't just load the first memory card through slot one then load the second memory card through slot one did you? If you did then you have to have a memory card in slot one and a different memory card in slot 2. It might have a red x because there is no memory card in slot 2.

You have to load the guest garage data first. There should be an option for that near the bottom of the main Arcade Mode menu.

The Guest Garage allows you to load a second memory card, so you can compete with your friend using your own cars.
