I'm having a lot of trouble with the 15 minute races, and it's really aggravating.

I somehow managed to win the Apricot Hill race, but I had to do some c----r c-----g to do it.

The car I am using is the RX7 Amemiya that I won as a prize car.

At Ascari, I virtually have no shot, no matter how well I seem to drive. Highest I've gotten is 2nd place, but I finished 20+ seconds behind the McLaren F1.

At Nurburgring, I can do very well, but if I so much as get one wheel on the grass at 100+, the car spins out. Today, I was about to catch the leaders with a couple laps to go, but the rear wheels went away on me, and I ran out of time to make the pass for the win.

Another time, I was running second, about three seconds from the McLaren, when the car spun out.

I've purchased Stage 2 turbo, bought Sports Medium tires, and made a weight reduction.

The RX7 Amemiya is the only bonafide race car I have in my stable. (I just recently got the #24 Jeff Gordon stock car, but it's way too heavy to drive against the nimbler competition) It's also a pretty damn good race car, but it can only do so much, plus if I put one wheel off into the grass, it's race over.

I have about 2.5 million credits as of now. Should I keep tinkering with the RX-7 some more and find that PERFECT setup? Because I want to run this car in the GT500 and the 600 PP World Championship as well.

Or should I go out and buy another car?

Any help is appreciated.

Race cars have a flat floor, which gives them loads of downforce but also loads of performance points. This means that when there is a PP limit they usually can't have as good power to weight ratio as road cars, and acceleration and top speed suffers because of it.

If you stick with the RX7 you need to really drive it on the edge, especially in the corners. Since it has high downforce, the corners is where it needs to make up for the time it loses on the straights. Make sure you use the full track width (if you're not it's a sign that you can go a little bit faster), be super strict about the out-in-out line. Look into the corner as you're turning to get a better sense of the shape of the corner and where the apex and exits are. Once you pass the apex, accelerate out of the corner. At Ascari there are a couple of corners that you can take flat out in a high downforce car.

Another option is to ditch the RX7 for now and get a road car instead, see if the better acceleration and top speed is enough to make you win.

I didn't have any trouble with those events but then again I would've used a different car... Keep tickering the setup to see if you can squeeze any more out of it, which RE Amemiya is it? I'll give it a shot! If you think the car isn't fast enough theres always easier alternatives like the Nismo GT3 or SLS GT3 which are both relatively cheap, easy to tune and fast cars.

If you're cautious about spending money like I am (even with 50 million) you can do the Red Bull events which pay a fair amount of seasonal races like the beginner ones which are super easy and pay very nicely!

Edit: Checked the prize list of cars and it looks like you're talking about the FD3S, I'm going to try it now!

Edit 2: Oh I see why it's more difficult now I thought you were only up against super cars not race cars... Umm I'd try on Racing Hards for even more grip but for your sake I'll try on Sport Mediums. I'd suggest to do other events for now until you win a race car. Or you could buy one you have plenty of cash

Did it at Ascari even with the GTR and longtail there boy what a race. Grippy touge Monster!. Fastest lap 2:08.9

Next up the ring

So far the tips I can give you are, even though you're on only mediums don't underestimate how grippy the RX7 is but at the same time keep it at a very fast but stable way so you don't loose traction and begin to slide. I was running minimal downforce with a suspension set up that was thrown together with no tests with stock transmission, at Ascari try to ride the chicanes as much as you can without cutting (or cut if you would like to do so) oh and since you're running a stage 2 turbo (mid rev turbo) look at the torque curve it's peak is just after the middle so shift a little later than that not at the redline.

Boy that Nurburgring race was terrifying. The largest gap I had on the McLaren at any given point was .900 but the touge Monster came out as the victor with a fastest lap of 7:06 on sport mediums

End verdict. If you reallt enjoy driving on the edge continue on with the RX7 but if you don't enjoy the misery of catching up just to defend your spot for the rest of the race buy a new car :)

All that testing and driving for the sake of help 👍

I used the BMW Z4 GT3 for this series, and for the GT300 and GT500 series. It's only 350,000 and worth every credit! You can win these events in the RE Amemiya, but as you're struggling, I'd opt for something with a little more grip and power.

If you don't mind spending a little of your credits you could purchase the Dodge Challenger Race Car '70 and give it a shot at the races. Its quite strong and can later be used for the Historical Race Series. The Dodge Challenger only costs $175k

The Ascari Race can be won with the Lotus Elise Race Car '96 which is the prize car that is won by golding all of the IB Mission Races. The Nurburgring Race can be won with the High End Performance G37 which is the prize car that is won by golding all of the IA Licenses.

Good luck!

PP limit is 650, so I can understand the struggle with the RX-7!
You'll need a race car, and one with lots of downforce at that.

Toyota TS030 is great, and will dominate everyting between 550PP to 650PP, at 2M its expensive, but concidering how much you will be able to use it, its well worth it.

If you take my advice, make these changes, and I can guarantee that you will win, even blindfolded;)

camber: 0.0/0.0
toe: 0.00/0.20
LSD: 10/10/10
Downforce: max.

this is very safe settings, suitable for beginners, but if you struggle, keep the traction control on.

Thanks all.

I ended up putting a set of Racing Hard tires on the Amemiya RX-7, and managed to win the race at Ascari. Despite the fact the tires kinda wore a little bit, they gripped the track really well, and I set some pretty fast lap times.

At Nurburgring, I still finished third, because I ran into the McLaren AND the Ford GT. I was 27 seconds behind on the final lap, and I made up 15 of those seconds, but the straights are what killed me.

So I went out and purchased the Z4 race car, and won the final 550 PP race at Mount Panorama, and will be attempting the 600 PP Championship, the Dream Car Championship, and the final 15 Minute Race at Nurburgring.

The BMW Z4 GT3... I was never a fan, I felt as if it was slower than all the other GT3 cars but still fast. Just because I felt like testing it put, I bought one and bone stock entered the 600pp Championship. The Z4 can win it but not by much if you have the pesky McLaren there unless it's Mount Panorama haha. The 15 minute race should be an easy win for you if I won it in the Mazda on Sport Mediums. The dream car championship I may try but I can imagine it'll be similar to the 600pp one.

Edit: for the dream championship you could either use a faster or car or my recommendation for very easy wins just add some more hp.

Update:

I ended up winning the last 15 minute race at Nurburgring, holding off the Ford GT to do so.

For the 600 PP Championship, I used the BMW Z4 in its original stock version and finished 4th at the first race at Grand Valley.

Before race two at Tokyo R246, I added stage 2 Mid RPM turbo (and Racing Hard tires) and it got me a 3rd place finish about 16 seconds behind the Ford GT AND the McLaren F1.

For the final race at Mount Panorama, I ended up getting a great start (7th by turn 3-4) and then I made the race winning pass with 2 to go and held off the Ford GT to finish in a tie for 2nd in points.

For the Super GT 500, I won four races and placed 3rd in the last one (because my controller farted out on me early in the race).

For the Dream Car Championship, believe it or not, I actually WON the first race at Motegi, holding off the V12. (Motegi's a track that I'm just good at for some reason.) At Willow Springs, I placed fourth (that race should be 5 laps IMO), then second at Cape Ring AND De La Sarthe. At the final race at Nurburgring, my controller farted out on me AGAIN, but I rallied to take 3rd, placing 2nd in the championship.

I have a feeling that with the right setup, I could sweep the 600 PP Championship, win the Dream Car Championship and possibly improve my finishes in Like The Wind. (Attempted that, and placed 10th at SSR7 and 9th at Route X)

I'm going to attempt the IA GT World Championship on Friday and will report back with updates.

Another update:

I won the last Super GT 500 race, and improved my finishes in Like The Wind to 7th, 9th and 7th.
I attempted the GT World Championship, and finished 5th at Mount Panorama (should be 5 laps)
Race 2: Won at Laguna Seca.
Races 3 and 4: Finished in 3rd.
Final Race: Was 3rd in the points, and needed another decent run to pick up a podium finish. So what did I do instead? Picked the worst time to 🤬 the bed at Nurburgring, getting off the track on both laps, finishing sixth, and off the podium. :grumpy:

Yet somehow I ended up unlocking the S License Tests. :dopey:

Yeah taking a look at the GT World Championship I don't think a stock Z4 will be able to do it of course I tuned one probably could. I'd suggest eventually getting a Le Mans car that handles well and is fast so you can detune to 600pp or so. 👍 If you need any testing to be done ask

I will definitely tune the car, and update you on my progress. I plan to reattempt the Tokyo R246 race in the 600 PP Championship, the Dream Car Championship, and the GT World Championship. I will report back within the next couple of days with any updates. Thanks for the info.

I used the '86 Quattro 15th Anniversary Edition and it won no problem.

Sounds like a great idea. There's just one problem. I have no internet connection at my home.

If your game is updated you can do the Red Bull events such as the Red Bull Standards at Trial Mountain, my record is 2:48s for the whole race and then that win gives you 110k+

Update:

I went out and bought the McLaren F1 Stealth Edition. That car is a DREAM to drive! I don't know why I didn't pick that car in the first place!

I used it to sweep the rest of the IA events and will use it for the other S events that I haven't yet attempted.

There are so many cars in the game that might win the races easier after you learn about them, but you just don't know about them yet.

I have been going through all of the license tests that I didn't complete when I first started out because I gave up. After owning the game since it was out, I now have enough knowledge and all the cars I need to win most races easily if that's what I want to do. The coffee breaks with the cones and the drift challenges I have not done and one of the mission races (I think). The one in the NSX around the slalom cones that I have not been able to complete gold yet.

I finally golded the 125 Shifter Karts last night.

On such a budget, you might want to get the most widely useful, effective and efficient car for completing your career. The advice to acquire the Toyota TS030 is real good. It will repay itself many times over.

How did you gold the 125 Shifter Karts? What setup did you use?

I know you're not asking me but I used default set up, I didn't realise you could even change it. You just got to get quicker and quicker with them and stick to the track. The Karts on GT in my opinion aren't good or even somewhat realistic.

Just keep practicing with them

I can second this. I bought the TS030 for the Super races and nothing can even touch it. It's incredible!

The only change I made was to the gearing. I set it to 112 mph on the first two tracks and down to 75 mph on the last. The first two I had golded before, but it's been a long time and there have been quite a few updates since then. I was going back through all the training levels to get the last of the stars and this was one of them. The best I had done previously was 5th place on the last race in the 3 race series. Which only qualified me for 2nd overall. I ran the race in b-spec and several times in a-spec without doing the championship. Once I figured out where I was losing time and where I could pass most successfully I started the championship series and was able to gold all three events.

That's awesome. I won both Brands Hatch and Willow Springs on my third attempt, but I set it to 81, and ended up finishing 11th. :( I did come in 2nd overall though, so I'm not too disappointed.

I'll try it again, and put the final race on 75, and report back with results.

And as far as the S Events, I won the 24 Minutes at Spa, but the 24 Minutes of Le Mans...a quite interesting race. I was in the McLaren F1 Stealth Edition, and had about an 8 second lead over the 908, and I lagged back on purpose, trying not to run an extra lap, but I underestimated the power of the 908, who pushed me trying to get the lead, and then pitted (along with another car), leaving me crossing the finish line with 14 seconds to go and a 40+ second lead...

Sadly, using what I learned in the Eco Challenge did not help here on the long straights of Le Mans, and I ended up running out of fuel in the middle of the Mulsanne straight and having to coast all the way home in 3rd place. :banghead:

The Toyota TS030 Hybrid is a absolute beast.. You have a garantee win from 550pp to 650pp.

The Mazda RX-7 Touring car is pretty good aswell. For long straight lines make sure to stay as close behind the opponent as possible to enable drafting, and you would have no problem keeping up and overtake at corners. 👍👍

For 650 or above i'd recomend the Pescarlo C60 Hybrid Judd. It's much like the TS030, just much quicker

When I'm that close to or in the lead I don't pass on the long straights, I use the draft to save fuel especially when accelerating.

After golding 5-3 Goodwood, the insanely difficult Cone Challenge 1, Drift Challenge 3, and the Kart race at GT Arena, I am ONE. RACE. AWAY. from completing the entire game.

The only thing that stands in my way is the 24 Minutes of Le Mans.

I finished in second place, but late in the event, I got a bull:censored: corner cutting penalty allowing the 908 to pass me, and as I was battling it and the R8, one of those morons spun me going into the long straight and I ended up falling back to third. On the last pit stop, the 908 beat me off pit road, and held on to win, while I had to hold on to second against an aggressive R8. I could have corner-cut to win the race, but I feared being black flagged. One thing I have to say is the corner cutting penalties on that track are really bogus.

I know I can win this race with the McLaren Stealth F1, because it drives really well, I just have to have as few mistakes as possible.

Well done for getting that far through the game! I've only just got to 80% through the game! That brutal 5-3 at Goodwood is my biggest nemesis at the moment, as is the Nascar series, where I don't seem to able to ever finish in the top 3 in any race!!

As far as the Goodwood 5-3, one word.

Patience.

It will take loads, and I do mean LOADS of patience, but it will happen.

The setup I used for that was no TCS, and controller sensitivity at 2. I'll also upload a video of it at a later time.

I think I gave up once I'd attempted about 25 runs and hadn't made it past the chicane under the trees...
