Might get a free PC from a friend and the HP website says the processor is not upgrade compatible as its not removable from the motherboard. True? Or is there a way around it?

Its an HP Pavilion p2-1122.

It's an on-board processor; it's soldered to the motherboard. Lol. Good luck!

I'd keep the case, drives, memory, and trash recycle the rest.

You could give it to your kids for school work; outside of that I'd say so.

I was going to say you could use it as a media pc, but you'd need a sound card since it only has a line out (headphone jack type) connector if you wanted to run it to some nicer speakers, but it doesn't have expansion slots. Lol.

So, pretty much the whole thing is non-upgradable. Personally I would see no use in it.

Seedbox[Torrents], or media pc, you could probably buy a USB sound card and run it like that. They make 5.1 and 7.1 cards for USB. It's certainly an option if you want to get some life out of it. Maybe even a file server. There's definitely use in it. But don't expect to be playing any games on it.

Yeah that's what I expected. I really need a PC, mainly for internet browsing (currently using PS3) Photoshop and possibly some simple video editing. Gaming would have to take a back seat unfortunately.

I'll likely wait.

I'd say take it as a browser computer. You might be able to get away with photo editing, but video editing would take weeks or years. :P
