HUD rpm indicator

anyone know how to turn it off the feature where it blinks a recommended gear for a corner? I just noticed I've been subconsciously using it to help me know when to brake

Can't be turned off, as far as I know. It's a good guide to use for braking.

In GT4 we could turn it off so I was surprised that we couldn't in GT5. Anyway, I hate it too and put some tape (masking tape so it won't leave any residue) over the area of the flashing red gear so I wouldn't rely on it and get distracted. The indicated gear is especially bad for rally stages, it's always 1 gear lower than what you should be to get gold.

Yea my point exactly. Cuz sometimes it flashes on corners (circuit or rally) that don't even need breaking. It's good as a guide for the first time around a track with different cars, but then again it's not reliable for fast times.

This is actually a good learning tool for newer players as each car has different braking points.
