Yes, that crazy F1-like street car will be going into production!

Leftlanenews.com
The Hulme supercar by New Zealand firm Super Cars LTD will go into production in 2008, according to gizmag. Jock Fremantle told the publication that the Hulme — which was first previewed over a year ago — would be built in a limited production run of 20 to 30 units. The car will have a 550 horsepower BMW V8 from the previous-generation M5 and will weigh around 2600 pounds. Visually, the car is inspired by an F1 racer. It's name is a tribute to Denny Hulme — one of New Zealand's greatest race car drivers. It will seat two and initially be offered in the U.K. and German markets

I always love seeing live footage of otehr people designing and drawing cars. Mmmm makes me feel all warm.

This is all nice and dandy, but I fail to see how this will provide that many jobs for trans design students. I'm not expecting this car company to really be that big of a player in the market to create that many jobs, and I hope those young bright talents don't invest their lives into it either.

The vid showed only talk of the design, as if that is all the car has going for it. There is no word about performance, development, construction or actual usefullness of the car. It looks different, but it is a supercar, so will it drive different?

What I am waiting to see the BMW V8 in is the next Lotus Esprit. I cannot friggin' wait.

If this car gets good media and they make enough money to cary on their next car can be placed lower in the market, meaning higher production, and so on until they might be able to have two or three models on sale at once. That's if it runs smoothly, but one company alone won't create an industry, but it can motivate the rise of one.

also as the guy ni the vid said, it means that the design students can design from New Zealand, this car can create a stirr that getr's them attention so bigger companys may look for designers in New Zealand like they do in other places after an innovative design comes out and gets well known.

That is true, but I interpreted what he said as their goal is to keep the designers in New Zealand, which that kind of attention would not do, it would draw more students out of Zealand than before.

Hmm... I wonder if I can get one to race my brother's Atom... :D

Is this to compete with the Caparo?
I reckon the Caparo T1 will walk all over it, because I’ve been near both cars in real life. And well the Caparo T1 looked sleeker and better for driving.

It will be interesting to see the Hulme and Caparo face off, won't it?

Meh, the Caparo kicks its ass..

2.4l V8, 500bhp, doesnt say its weight but 0-60 in less than 2.5 seconds (dependant on tyres) is pretty quick...and the car has 1000bhp per tonne..

It's cool but I'm liking the Caparo a hell of a lot more....Caparo FTW!
Maybe if this thing came out a few years ago it would be more exciting. IMO this thing looks more like a Daytona prototype without fenders while the Caparo looks like an F1 car transformed into a street-able car.
