Lap 57 of the Grand Valley Speedway 300 km, I pit. The AI that controls the car in the pit hits a wall, and is too retarded to get out of it. I am never doing that race again. RAEG!!!

Discuss similar situations you've been in.

Luckily I've never experienced anything like that, nearest is the constant irritation of seeing my relatively high level (27) Bspec Ai not use GLARING overtaking opportunities down the inside of a corner. It seems the Ai in GT5 prefers an outside line to overtake. But so far the Improvements in the Ai department have been the one area that GT5 has pleasantly surprised me. Still far from brilliant, but massive improvement over previous GTs.

By AI I meant the computer that takes over once you enter the pit. Maybe I should clarify.

I see!! Ai's have never been all that good at getting out of unexpected situations. Thanks for the heads up on carefull pit entry, I'm just sorry it took someone elses misfortune to highlight it.

I would never let my AI control my X2010 nor would I ever drive such a race in a X2010! :D

But I know what you mean.
But I'm currently mad at GT5 because I causes, that have issues with the PSN, that It often just logs me out! That freaks me out!

I did the nurburgring 4 hr again last night and had quite a surprise, just finished fueling and started to manuavre from the filling/tyre section ontop pit lane when the car moved a few yards and to the left it suddenly stopped i was surprised and wondered nwhy when all of a sudden another competitor AI came down the pit on his way out quite surprised me that.

I had this happen... Just left it, went on GTP and waited for the AI to pit and crash into me. Unfortunately i was 5 laps behind by the time they pitted, but luckily i had racing tyres ready for such an occasion :)

Agreed. I was pleasantly surprised too first time it happened in B-Spec mode.

But after a few races and pit stops, noticed that our cars and and the opponent AI cars would overlap when moving in the pitlane, meaning they won't collide, thus making the "watching for incoming opponent cars" action seemed pointless.

But still a nice gesture to have nontheless.

I started a B-Spec wet race (Suzuka) with Racing Soft tyres by accident, my driver kept spinning out entering the pit lane which cancelled the pit, he would just drive through and do another bad lap on soft tyres, this went on for 20 laps.:banghead:

easy enough solution: whatever car you run in one of the endurance race, slow down before entering the pi erea

Why on earth did you sit and watch that for 20 laps instead of just restarting the race?

this is the one of the lack of improvement in the game....when you enter the pit, your car will be controlled by ai...would've been better if you get to drive in the pit then follow the speed limit or you'll get penalty, that's more realistic...

If You'd don it in a normal car this probaply wouldn't have happend...

I've don that race several times with no problems at all

Happened to me in GT4 when I was using a GT-One in a speedway endurance. 15 laps to go out of 150 and bam the AI gets knocked by another driver on pit entry and into a wall. he kept reversing and driving back into it

Something similar happenend to me on nurgurgring 4h endurance race.

I saw the pit entrance very late and I kind of crash in it :P

The AI took control of the car and it was going forward and backward like Austin Power, hitting the 2 walls for ever...

I was going to quit the race after I watched this scene for 10 minutes and then Another car went to the pit, crashed in my car and The AI FINALY managed to enter the pit !

I've had something like this happen in b-spec on Suzuka endurance. Bob crashes going into the pits and when he got the car going again, he drives straight through pits with out stopping for tyres or fuel, it happened about 5 times during the race, luckily i was using the fgt so i was laps ahead. If it was a close race i would have been very angry.

Same freaking thing happened to me too, I forget what race, but it was on Suzuka..sat there for 5 minutes.. then finally got move from another car.. had to struggle to catch up but still won the even. 👎 I want this fixed

Same problem. 110 laps in Indy endurance, Peugeot 908 HDi. Luckly, I was able to regain control after a 2 minute struggle. My advantage was around a minut and a half, so I had plenty of time to regain 1st position. But I was completly outraged, and I was about to exit the race... luckly I didn´t.

I didn't. I wasn't going more than 150 KPH in my X2010, but the snap turn into the pit lane was apparently too much for him =P

You were running Grand Valley 300 in the X1? And I thought lapping the field 6 times in my NSX type R was "overkill"...

Lol, I just wanted to get it over and done with XD I was pitting like every 6 laps xD

Uh, fortunately this was B-Spec, but it was still obnoxious. Bob was over 23 hours done with a Le Mans. My wife plugged her hair dryer into the same outlet that was running a spacer heater, which was apparently on the same breaker as my PS3. FAIL.

Bob retired shortly after that. Some might say that his experience bar was just full, but I think he lost the will to continue after being robbed of 23 hours of his virtual life.

Daytona Oval has a nasty little alcove right at pit entrance to the left. If you enter too fast and hit the dividing wall on the right that separates the track from pit lane you can get rebounded into that alcove. I did. It took FOR EVER to get out of it. I went down 12 laps before I got out.

To further add salt to the wound, when I finally got free, the idiot computer drove me through pit lane without stopping for tires and fuel.:ouch: Soon as I left pit lane the last bar of fuel burned off and had to go around at 49mph. All tolled I lost 16 laps. I did win however as I had another 120 laps to go in the Daytona endurance.
