44 Gallons... thats almost 5 times larger than my MR2's... I'd cry filling something that big up... would take too much :indiff:

Well, at least its justified if there are 8 of you. Now if it was for like... one or two people

 Yeah efficency of an AirBus duh...

Let Arrianna Huffington come on down to get laughed at. Possibly rolled over.

I've wanted to roll over her stupid ass for a long time, because you know I'm such a terrorist aren't I?

Jesus Christ its about a 100 inches longer the my Blazer and weighs double!

It's only 50 inches longer...

As far as I know the only Chrysler New Yorker/LHS limousines built were for former Chrysler Corporation majority shareholder Kirk Kerkorian.

A fleet of four or five were built, and every single one was painted Emerald Green.

Whoa. Legit. I don't know if it was a New Yorker or an LHS, though I think it was a New Yorker, actually. Definitely a strange sight.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Congrats on the purchase! :O 👍

I think that Excursion should be banned for being too BIG! No I am just kittying! (='.'=)

But still, its just so BIG! One time, I was following one and was having a hard time trying to look at the traffic ahead of it. They are so big that trying to pass it on the next lane scares me at time because I feel like I can be sandwitched anytime if I don't move fast enough!

Anyways, how are people reacting on the road when they see a huge excursion coming by? Are you going to put an aftermarket muffler on it? :O

Gil I suggest you check out the Bully Dog 6 Gun system for it. For those times when you want to say pull a house off it's foundation or maybe lay waist to a punk kid in a Camaro. They did a Trucks! episode on it last season and the system pretty much was about as excesive as one could get with a diesel, but that made it just about right.

Actually any of the Bully Dog stuff would add a nice touch to the truck.

I think just about every auto enthusist have ideas of modding their vehicles.

This is Kansas. There are more trucks and SUV's, both foriegn and domestic, than just about any other type of vehicle. Heck, the bigger the truck in some counties the more likely you are to find a cute, teeny, but tough, girl driving.

All too True. Here in Overland Park, every other Vehicle is an SUV or Truck.

My sister has a Suburban, Her Husband has a GMC Sierra 1500,
My other sister has a Durango, and Her Husband has an F-250 Powerstroke Diesel,

Trucks and SUV's account for 2/3 of the Vehicles in the Parking lot of my school.

A guy on Jalopy journal.com said "Prius, what's that? is it a kind of sea Plankton?"

RobcioPL
So, are you going to mod it?

My only aspirations for mods on it are to add 2 portable twin-screen DVD players...

My wife would pitch a true fit if I wanted to spend another $5,000 on it (on top of the $40K+ to buy the damn thing) for some Banks Engineering goodies.

Besides, as a "family/for trips only" vehicle, I want it stock so that if I should have issues while traveling I can take it to any Ford dealer and have them fix it under warranty. (Up to and including the approx. $11 g's it would cost to replace the motor, if necessary.)

Not the fun option, but the one that will, in the long run, give me the most peace of mind.
Besides, do I really need more than 560 ft/lbs of Torque? (Especially if I'm not towing anything)
And that's 560 ft/lbs. at 2,000 RPM. A mere kick-down shift away at highway speeds.

If I win the lottery, and buy a huge boat or an equally huge Airstream travel trailer, then I may put in a call to Mr. Banks and company...

Menglan, I work in Leawood presently, and of the 5-6 of us in the building at any given time, there are two of us in SUV's two in trucks, and two in cars.
Overland Park is the Camry and SUV/Truck drivers "Mecca".

Most of the Johnson county "soccer moms" don't think mini-vans are cool enough.
Heritage park on a soccer Saturday is a prime example of Kansans love for SUV's and trucks.
Never have I seen so many "un-blinged" Navigators, Aviator, and Escalades in one place.

Dude! Nice buy! So who gets to drive it? :)

I don't get it - up here, where it's snowed every week since October and where we had eighteen inches for about two months, no one has an SUV. I've got a Typhoon, there's a new Land Cruiser, and a guy a few houses down has an Expedition. Everyone else makes do with AWD wagons and stuff - one house has a Legacy and an Outback, the Expedition owners have an Outback sedan, the across-the-street guy has an A6 2.7T Q. My next-door neighbors have a CR-V, and the people two houses down have another (in addition to that Land Cruiser and a 328).

My point is, you Kansans need to take lessons from us. You guys don't even get all that much snow! Weirdos!

Remind me never to go to Kansas. I'm afraid I'd get crushed between two of those monsters, and not even notice....

 nah but over der u gotta worry about them doods wid der 28' dubbed out lades and puttin a cap on ya.

:dopey: ha ha...................... ha.

That's because you are on the wrong side of Michigan, on the east side there are way more trucks and SUV's then cars. I mean hell even my grandma owns a AWD Saturn Vue (which is very impressive). See you just on the bad side of the state :p.

And you call the Phoon an SUV's? It's not even rated to tow and I can't imagine the ground clearence issues in the snow. It's more like a sport wagon.

And let me tell you, having lived in Saint Louis for 3+ years, mid-midwesterners have no clue how to drive in the snow. Half of them think an inch is a blizzard and drive everywhere at 30 with their flashers on, while the other half acts like nothing is happening and blow down the highway at 70. It's not a good combination.

Luxury SUV's... What a waste. Why spend 56,000 Dollars for a "Nice" SUV? THat's like throwing money away. An Escalade isn't much better than a Tahoe. Other than having Leather seats,Which, are kinda dumb to have in a car where you are taking 5-and-6 year olds to soccer, baseball, and *gasp* playdates, where the kids will get dirty(I was 5 once, and have 5 and 6 year old neices. they know how to get dirty. It's almost like a contest) and get dirt and mud and stuff all over the seats. Then, the soccer moms complain about gas prices. RETARDS!!! Get a freaking Station Wagon!! They say they buy their SUV's to haul their kids around, which, I can understand. My sister has 3 kids, and a car wouldn't work. But why waste 15-20 thousand dollars for some chrome trim and leather seats?

Oh, God, not heritage park Soccer Saturdays... :nervous: Bad,Bad memories of Second Grade.

We have too many Soccer moms in Overland Park. Nobody really Cares if your kid is an honor Student at Harmony Elementary. Getting a bad Grade in Elementary school is practically Impossible.

A much less tall version of the one on top.

Duke,
I know what you mean. It usually isn't too bad the times of day I'm on the road.

But every now and them there is some idiot that is driving like 4WD means you can stop as fast as you can go.

Well I don't think that your 2,5 (?) ton truck will brake fast in snow...

We had a run in with one of those a couple months back. Some woman answering her cell phone in a '90s SUV, one of the real high ride height truck-ish ones, drove into the back of the car I was in at about 40MPH, while we were stopped at a red light. To add insult to injury, she was completely beligerent, was shocked that we were angry at her, and refused to give up her insurance information, to the point where it actually required police intervention to get her to give up the info.

NO pics yet. my son's server is down, and he seems to be in no hurry to get it back online. Studying for finals and all that.
It's no school bus. It isn't even for running errands, unless those errands happen to be several hundred miles away and all eight of us have to go.
It'll be going to Colorado twice this month, and Atlanta in July, but it may get two or three trips into the city (KCMO) to stretch its lets in between the long trips.
It has a 44 gallon tank and about a 650 mile range according to the computer. So I expect to see 17MPG on the highway with the cruise control on.
Wow so much for Dad's Suburban 2500, which only has a 37 gallon gas tank

(and is through with the tank in about 300 miles -_- it has the 365 w/ a 4.10 rear, doing about 2800 rpm or so at 65 mph)

4.10's are worthless, they used to have an option on the S-trucks. My buddy has it installed on his noma and hates it with a passion. Stupid choice on GM's part.

What the **** kind of crack are you smokin'?

"Mini-truckers"...

It's bigger than the Maybach 62 but has better gas mileage than that and the Enzo combined. Lol.

how you figure?

2005 Mercedes-Benz Maybach 62

Fuel Economy
Fuel Type Premium
MPG (city) 12
MPG (highway) 17
MPG (combined) 14
Annual Fuel Cost 2592

2003 Ferrari Enzo Ferrari

Fuel Economy
Fuel Type Premium
MPG (city) 8
MPG (highway) 12
MPG (combined) 9
Annual Fuel Cost 4033

figures taken from www.fueleconomy.gov

gil stated that he almost gets 20mpg on the freeway. my math would make it appear that 12 plus 17 is greater than "almost 20." i could be wrong.

Okay guys, update time.
Just drove to Colorado from Leavenworth.
Approx. 600 miles.
Total miles on the Excursion, still under 1000.
Gas mileage, per the computer is at an average of 16.1 MPG.

Not too bad for a 3.5 ton SUV carrying 8 people and stuff for several days in the Springs.

Damn I get 16 in the Blazer and that's with just me in it.

Damn! Bet you can't wait to get the TDI, I know I can't wait till I get mine.
