saying a Ruf is not a Porsche is the same as saying a Saleen is not a Mustang... and an AMG is not a Merc.

Not exactly. AMG is an in-house tuning company, much like the BMW M-series cars. Saleen has their own cars other than those which are ford-based (e.g. S7), etc.

Notice how there is no Porsche badge on RUFs, no ford badge on Shelby-tuned mustangs, but there is a Mercedes badge on AMGs (look at the SLS AMG).

EDIT: Whoops, took too long in posting, trying to get back on topic! :scared:

Precisely... and you'd be right in each case (except perhaps AMG who sometimes use cars built by Mercedes instead of the raw components).

Anyway, you could go on to point out that a Cornish pasty is not the same thing as a meat'n'potater pie.

I think pie logic demonstrates everything you could need to know in this particular case.

A few minutes ago i finished Level 40 in the A-Spec mode. I have to mention that it took almost forever and over 30 Million XP points to get there. The prize car given to me was a Ferrari 2010 Formula One Race Car, i also got a RUF, better known as tunes Porsche (Ultra Turbo or 911 GT-R9, i believe) prototype for completing the Endurance level.

I am only at Level 32 at B-Spec so i dont know what will await me on winning Level 40, nor do i know what price car will be awarded.
Gran Turismo 5 is a let down so far, considering the 5 years of developement. However i am waiting for more updates and patches to come, such as 1.04 as I believe will introduce Leaderboards. Greetings from Northern-Sweden! Holger van de Linde

Don't believe this guy/OP, he's is straight lying! I don't know for sure what the awards might be for achieving at A spec level 40 but this guy had been spamming multiple game forums about the above post. Seems like he just created a new account then copy and paste the same message on all of the forums. LIES!

OP said he got a GTR9. There aren't any Ruf GTR9's but there's a GT-9R made by another tuner called 9ff.

Is this the car, OP?

"and is the biggest and most renowned company to make Porsche performance enhancements."

Its a Porsche no matter how you dress it up, its a Porsche design with Porsche suspension geometry with Porsche engine design and everything else, you cannot just forget millions of euros worth of development just because they are built in a different factory.

True. They could not make a car like a Porsche without legal consequences. Obviously, they have an agreement with Porsche, and produce their own setups licenced as a RUF.

It's only every 2 or 3 months this wonderful myth comes round again.

Ruf = Ruf. Ruf != Porsche. Porsche = Porsche.

Ruf is a manufacturer, named after its founder Alois Ruf, and not a tuner in respect of the cars in GT. The Ruf RGT is a Ruf RGT, not a tuned Porsche. The Ruf 3400S is a Ruf 3400S, not a tuned Porsche. The Ruf CTR2 Yellowbird is a Ryf CTR2 Yellowbird, not a tuned Porsche. And so on, and so on, and so on.

That's funny because right on the RUF webpage they claim to be Porsche tuners...

Anyone else reeeeaaalllly hoping for a chance to buy these off PSN for like 2 or 3 bucks in the future ?

Yes. The game doesn't have enough to entertain me for a 10th of that XP.

Nope! Things like that would make the cars and game lose their shine. It's kinda like the "Birthday Car" thing and how they ruined the value of the Miura, Mark IV, 330 P4, and the Jag.

I couldn't agree more my friend.

Saving up and grinding to buy the car youe really want gives you a great sence of achievement.

@ OP: what do you do for a living, so tou can be at level 40 aspec and level 32 bspec.

So . . . the OP, his gamertag doesn't exist, according to the thread at the other forum. Which if I remember correctly has a requirement that your ID there is the same as in PSN. Im confused at how he got on that forum to begin with given the requirement. I havent searched his gamertag myself, but I believe the guy who says he did, to find that the OP does not exist. hmmm...Too, I read, here or there, I forget now, some people managed to get the game early. . .

I think you need to talk to PD about that then. In a few Ruf descriptions the word Porsche is sprinkled around like salt and pepper.

I don't use salt and pepper...

RUF Automobile GmbH is a German automobile manufacturer. RUFs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis. When a chassis arrives, RUF builds their own independent work into the car. Because RUF installs many of their own-made parts, the company is recognized as a manufacturer by the German government.

So in essence... everyone is wrong :) or right whatever way you want to put it.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for pics as proof from the OP.The RUF bit is a bit hard to believe.

Can you please post some pics of the ruf car your talking about- the game has a photo mode built into it so how hard can it be? please

RUF build cars based on porche's, e.g. based on the 996-type porche 911 GT3. The engine in the RGT is a PORSCHE 3.6l (they are tuned porches, with a different badge) If i got a fiesta an tuned the engine but upgraded the sus etc.. and put a DAN badge on it does that make it a DAN FIESTA?? No it makes it a ford fiesta which has been upgraded by ME!

Our expertise and decades of experience are reflected in the service, repair and refurbishment of Porsche sports cars. "there website" nuff said.
