The game freezes at the GT logo on the startup. I can't get to the menus even. I have to log out, which I don't like, to play.

Is it really freezing, or does the GT logo still "change colour".

I noticed the first time I started the game after dowloading the last update that it took very long at the GT logo while starting up. I also thought it was freezing but eventually it did start, only happened once, everything seems fine now.

Check how quick your internet connection is, as GT5 likes to talk to the server constantly it really slows down the menus if you have a slow connection.
I know that if I have my PS3 in my lounge which has really bad wireless reception, then menus a REALLY slow

Hey Death i had a very similar issue right after i upgraded to v1.06. The game would load up but just before the intro movie the game would just freeze. I deleted the game data utility and reinstalled the whole thing (thank god for warcraft frozen throne).

It all worked well again and I was able to retreeve my chrome line cars. Now the eft up thing about it was i lost all my replays and awesome photos :ouch: and for some reason alomost half the crs in my garage are missing the car icon. Why that happened IDK and if you know who I should report it to please tell me.

You can recover car icons, they made an option for that when you press triangle on the car and choose "Create Thumbnail", in case you didn't know.

I got it working. It prompted me to update my PS3 firmware to 3.56 which i installed last month. Weird, but it worked.. If anyone is having the same problem. Click "Check for Updates" on your ps3
