The Mazda MXR

And since Mazkid knows nothing about it... well neather do I.

Gee, unless I knew better, I would say that this car is actually a Jaguar XJR-14. Headlights aren't quite right, though.

Damnit. You are right. All I've been able to gather is that it ran LeMans in 1992. I'm pretty sure it's a piston car(since Rotaries were outlawed in LeMans after the 787B victory in 1991).

Uhg, hate when I don't know this stuff!

Yea Jim? Since you are such a brilliant guy, why don't you take the chaulk and teach us all about the MXR?

Well...no never mind.

Atleast I admitted I didn't know about it rather than make up stuff. I coulda come in here and said "That's the Mazda MXR and it's got 1250hp and a top speed of 320mph. It ran and won tons of LeMans races but then it crashed, and that's the last pic taken of the car intact."

But I shoulda. ;)

You were owned too John. You were owned more than I was. I was leased, but never owned.

It was known as the MXR-01, actually. That thing didn't even have a Mazda engine, for what it's worth... It had a 3.5l Judd (aka Jaguar at the time) V10, Johnny Herbert and Bertrand Gachot, amongst others, took it to 4th at Le Mans in 1992.

Another one of them seen in Donington, 1992, where it finished that race 5th.

In action at Le Mans...

Not really succesfull, so there's not a lot of info on it. Then again, there isn't that much on the 787B either.

Mmm - from what I've been able to find, the car is basically a Jaguar XJR-14 (thought that body looked familiar) running, indeed, a Judd 3.5 litre engine - it's worth noting the Jaguars at the time were running Ford 3.5 litre Cosworth grand prix engines.

sorry, i really have nothing important to add..but I just think this picture is hilarious...sooo :D

Yeah from what I gather the Jaguar XJ14 was basically a grand prix car but with a sports car body (not literally, but you catch my drift).
Just another little fact on it - Did you know that the Joest Porsche which ran in 1996, 1997, 98 (I think) and 99 (I think) used the Jaguar XJ14 chasis, it was that good...:)

BTW fourth and fifth aren't bad for a Mazda sports car racing at Le Mans and other sports car events. I mean they were generally a lot worse than that in those times (and don't even bother arguing the case of Le Mans 1991 when the 787B won. My dad was at the race and it wouldn't of stood an ice cream in hells chance of getting into the top six let alone winning if it wasn't for all the other top cars and manufactuers falling out. It was only won because the leading Mercedes was in the pits for years.Don't get me wrong it was a good victory but a bit lucky if you ask me and great engineering to produce a car that lasted the distance).;)

This is the info I got so far:

The MXR is run by a piston V10 engine, rather than by a rotary like the 787B (as said before).
The price of the rear wing is approximately 1000 ten thousand Yen the cockpit the glass hatch which is approximately 150 ten thousand Yen.
The wheels were made from magnesium alloy by VOLK RACING.
