Oh boy! I finally have it! :D

(too bad I suck at it. :D )

Anyone down to teach a n00b some lessons? Let me know... :D

Counter-Strike has to be one of the worst games ever. Might have been cool 4 years ago but it sucks. It's system of fire is so unaccurate it's unreal. It really takes no skill to play. Nevermind, it does, if you can get pass the lag.

I recommend Soldier of Fortune 2 : Double Helix. It's a great game well worth the now $39 price tag. I've been playing for months now and I still can't stop playing it.

Geez, what a buzz kill. The guy was all excited, and everyone jumps on him about how bad the game sucks.

Yeah I'm kinda late. :D

Damn, it's really 4 years old?!

Just call me Killjoy. :trouble:

Yeah man, the game is mondo old. You can but it in a 4 pack of other Half-Life games for $20. Whatever floats your boat I guess. :)

So you down for a friendly game? :D

I could install it right now if I wanted to. I never re-installed it after I got this new computer. I'll maybe download it sometime this weekend. Maybe then I could show you how skilled people play. ;)

CS isn't all that bad.. I first started playing it a little over two years ago. I wasn't very good when I started either. Just play it with friends alot and you'll get better at it.

Thanks for the positive feedback bro.

Ok, so now my question is (since you guys are bashing every game listed here); what is a good multiplayer game for the PC?

CS is somewhat of an expansion of half life released in 1998. Half life was a classic, and CS was too. The Game does not suck at all its just older and better ones have come out. so i suggest you keep to your beliefs about the game and not let anything influence you on how it "sucks"

It sucks.

Zeno, try out games like Soldier of Fortune 2 or BattleField1942. Both games are very popular right now.

Especially BF1942. ;)

The game looks pretty promising. But what type of system specs does it require? I know I need a better video card so I'm planning on purchsing the ATI RADEON 7500, but otherwise I have a pretty damn old school HP with 667MHz and 512MB or RAM.

Would that be sufficient?

Thanks,

zeno

I found this on gamespot:
PIII 500 or equivalent, 128 MB RAM, 32 MB VRAM, 1.2 GB disk space, sound card, DirectX v8.1

Ok, so with the new video card my system should be ok?

Trust me, even though they said minimum is 500 mhz, it will be VEEERY laggy
my friend has a 1.7 ghz comp, and it still lags (in gfx) a tiny bit
he has a ati 9700PRO...
so.....

o and about CS
Who said it requires no skill..
Compare it to games like BH1942
Why does the CPL(Cyberathelete Professional League) host little BF1942 competitions? they only have CS competitions, but rarely do they host 1942
does that mean CS is better? maybe, maybe not
but there's a certain something in CS that attracts so many people
Hey, maybe it's the fact that it doesn't require a top of the line comp to play
it can be played on a 450mhz 32 mb vid card (me:D) smoothly
Also, CS competitions have prizes of "get ready for this" (200k euro) BF competitions? max.... 1k AFAIK

What lag? CS 1.5 is much better
Go on a dedicated server and the ping (if the server is in your city) will usually not exceed 100, which translates into 0.1 seconds of lag
Can you REALLY notice 0.1 seconds of lag? (btw, i'm running DSL) that's what mine is
usually, my ping is ~ 70

You've got to be ****ting me!

Are you telling me that even if I got teh best graphics card out there right now with a decent processor it will still lag?

Makes me wonder why am I even bothering with getting a better (not the best) video card, if the best can't even handle it without hiccups. That's pissing me off...
