I hate public drift rooms.

Eric and Godfrey have a good idea on a solution. The only one issue I see tho, if a noob inherits the room, he can change the tires to whatever they want, you'd have to make it a fixed host. This will keep the room they way it was intended!

I can't count how many times I've seen CH in the name but see everyone in softs .

Only problem is with fixed host is the connection.
Most times I see fixed host rooms in open lobbies with only 3 or less stars on the bottom right hand corner of the highlighted lobby (the stars resemble what the race quality is set to... Which lower stars means twitchy cars). I tend to stay away from fixed host rooms because of this. I can't stand cars drifting or racing or even cruising being twitchy it is annoying

The race quality can be changed when making a room, can't it? I know I set my lounge to 'high' quality, same with voice.

I agree though, twitchyness and driving don't mix.

Edit: 1000th post :)

Yeah it can but most people forget that. Or they put race quality on high and chat quality on high and complain about the mics taking turns. I tell people all the time to make their rooms with racing quality on high and chat quality on low so the mics and room runs smoothly and they can comprehend that what I am telling them is common sense

Always ran voice and race quality on max with very few lag issues!

Last nights matsuri was smooth as hell with 16 drivers, most of which on mics!

i know speed doesnt matter, i can tandem with no problem, buy when you see someone in a gt-r with racing softs trying to get good times and you beat them, its kinda funny ^^

I honestly prefer open lobbies than private lobbies.

Private lobbies are boring with the SAME people using the SAME tire probably doing the SAME line with their SAME drift style. SAME SAME....

Only thing I like the same is the track tsukuba.

I honestly doubt EVERY PUBLIC room is that bad..........

Not to mention I could join a room of all GT-RS and sit somewhere and enjoy watching that horrible AWD snap back. It's hilarious

Well here is the plan then. When you create a room add the tag "[GTP] to the title. This will make online drift rooms run might better. And if you host and you have to host make sure someone from GTP is under you, so the room does not go to someone who is not from GTP.

its settled. this is how we will do it!

I like this idea.

I think the thread is not done yet. I suggest that we should discuss more about what are the best options to build the perfect lobby:

Some open questions:
- How many participants?
- What quality x voice chat quality to be sure that fewer people as possible will face less than 2 bars and 4 stars while searching?
- Voice chat avaliable or custom BMG?
- Drag force: Strong x Weak?
- Driving line, is this really necessary to turn off? How bad it is while drifting, specialy in custom tracks?

Driving line is basically pointless that's why usually it's off anyway.

The quality. I usually set my rooms up with race quality on high and chat quality on low so the room is pretty much lag free.

Split stream usually on low.

About driving line, witch honestly i don´t use it and i don´t know how bad it is because racing lines is one thing, drift line is another. I´d just liked to defend the right of choice about it for specific situations or users that don´t feel confortable in custom tracks, night driving or even losing the visuals in packs full of smoke, specialy when he can´t keep up and the smoke is even more massive.

And the racing quality x voice chat quality... i use mic a lot, speaking my lousy english, but i prefer more to listen my own tunes ingame, and normaly i don´t use a second device to play it. And i don´t feel so confident to push the limits of the rom´s connection standards, specialy after the last update. Even below the "recomended" stills a dangerous area. And im not telling that because im Brazilian; my connection is good and my latency (ping) tests to US, JP and EU are acceptable.

Finnaly about the drag force. Correct if im wrong, but set on "strong" isn´t harder to mantain the tandems pace pairity? Cose at least is what i feel, compared to "weak".

1.) I say max participants if you have a really good connection but if your connection isn't super beast then maybe 10 to 12
2.) Voice quality should be put to low. A small percentage of drifters have mics from what I've seen in most rooms. If it is really important to chat then it should be over Skype or something other than over GT5.
3.) It still pays to have voice chat available more than music
4.) I usually put on weak so you tandem easier.
5.) Driving line in the game is pointless. You can get around tracks faster while not following the line and the drift line is of course much different to the race line.

Other notes: With rooms, you should always run the quality at high. A good quality and lag free room is important otherwise you cant get as close in tandems and the game seems less realistic. Tyre wear is fine to turn on but most prefer it off. Damage (physical and mechanical) is good to turn off as it means the race quality can be turned up.

Split stream is draft

I make rooms all the time and set tires to COMFORT HARD and after a little while my room is nearly full.

If you want to fish random people, just set to Tsukuba or Suzuka East... then go prepare a cup of tea.

And if you want to disband everyone in 1 minute, try put a custom track. Its like Insect Killer Spray vs Roaches.

True Story.

Your true story is a Nightmare story mate... Destruction of the game for drifters is bored racers just having a quick drift now and then as the same old gets zzZZ Also highlighting the fact that the cars are not varied enough.. That down to money and sponsorship... That is the aim of the game here not us enjoying what were doing.... We will always want more and thats drip feeding... Can people not see thats what they do...

The tracks are the main issue imo for drfters as the selection is limited... If people gave drift a few weeks practice on a new track... new found hope could sustain a community so thin on the ground its sickening to watch it happening.. This is for GT5 anyway a spiral of lost interest..

GT5 in its current flavour is not really intended for True hardcore drifters imo down to the limited tracks the devs put in the game.. IMO a throw in just to keep a limited market sweet.. There is a flood of N00BS just sliding around the big tracks.. Pretending to be drifters..

As for the tuners.. The majority of those dont help the scene.. Creating over powered beast that bear no resemblance to Real life Ratio's.. making cars too fast and too up pace for anything like sidways action.. D1 Style....

The lobbys are a miss match of different flavours of drift.. This could be fixed come GT6 by providing a larger selection of tracks.. And making upgrades more difficult and complex to achieve realistic gains...

As your own ! This too is a true story and its going to be a while before anything serious takes off here antytime soon for the drift lobbys filling up.

The game needs more tracks.. Lets get that started ! My wish list incl current content.

Me too. I think it is one of the biggest overused noob tracks. But Tsukuba is overused but isn't a noob track.

And another track that usually gets a room flowing is Grand Valley Speedway. Also if you want to get my attention just put it on Cape Ring North. I would join in a heartbeat and start drifting the ring. I love the ring

Tsukuba is DS3 friendly, don´t demand smooth lines as Suzuka simply because it doesn´t have only one way to be achieved. Instead, only a smaller part of the drifters in Tsukuba try to keep on the perfect (standard, correct) lines. And most of the majority who don´t do it (many of them CS and SH tire users) don´t even know that they are going wrong.

So yes, Tsukuba is a short track easy to remember, but if you don´t go using the correct lines, its just a pool for noobs. It´s not an "all or nothing" track.
