I Have Purchased 2 mazda rx7 GTXs 90 models

And I noticed first that the ecu would only let me rev to 7.500 rpm in 2nd gear and lower. but in 3rd gear it revved all the eay to 8000 clean.
So ive done some engine work to both and put on stage 2 turbos.
and i was at exactly 378 ps for both . with fresh oil.
however after doing some serious drifting on the autumn ring and some tight races,
I can only get 359 ps with fresh oil out of the one ive abused.

SO after all that redlineing ive lost 29ps
It would cost a fortune to get that in mods.

Treat you engine well and dont overrev for too long folks.

PS i just got lucky and found a used Shuichi Shigeno Version AE86.
doestn start redlineing till over 10.000 rpm
and with only 20.000odd kms its nearly new
however i did pay 3.800.000 yen . A rare Find.

This happened in GT3 also. Overtime your engine wears and I lost mass amounts of horsepower on my C5R.

Whew I was thinking 3.8Mill credits for a Trueno! I'm sure the NTSC version will be downscaled to be like USD. I'm sure Japans is in Yen.

I wonder why PD just doesn't use the word Yen or $ instead of credits when they are already scaled to a currency.

Perhaps so the game doesn't age too quickly in case there's lots of inflation or something perhaps (?)

Well you really didn't blow up an engine, now did you. There was a report that you could. What you did was damage it a little. We had that in GT3. But, it's nice to hear you have to be more careful with your engine this time around. No more over-the-redline- jackrabbit starts.

GT Tester, how long were the cars abused for? And was in constant high revs and lots of rev limiter revs etc?

Also, is there a difference with higher milage cars in GT4. I'm talking cars that you can buy in the second hand marlet with over 100,000kms?

Are you sure you lost HP because you revved the engine too much and not just because of high mileage?

Yeah can you actually blow the engine? Or is it just like GT3 but you need to be more cautious. Personally I think it would be nicer for them to blow up and you have to repair it. People need to learn to respect the car.

high milege cars are slower and need to do that chassis refresh
otherwise the car feels very soft and doesnt handle any good...

Oy I don't want to go off-topic. But did he give any specifics of what happened when it blew?

Div is back
We need explanation on how to repair the engines, and what the hell is a chassis refresh?

chassis refresh is an option in GT4 that costs 5million credits. it basically refreshes the chasis to brand new condition on used cars....spot welding, polyurethane in the door sills, etc are what i can think of. new cars have this option checked off already.

Ah so approx $37000. That's not bad.

that's about 3800$ US. Not 37000$.

I bought GT3 in July 2001 and I was racing against a TVR. When I passed in front of the pit lane, I realized that the TVR had stopped on the side of the track. I said: Cool !! you can now over rev your engine and blow it up !!! However, I quickly realized that it was just a bug.... and it's probably what happened to our GT4 colleague. :indiff:

So is it an actual visual process or is it just "done" without any animation?

You know that a lot of chassis are glued and not spot welded these days? Cool stuff, try a search on it.

Glued!?

Thats some pretty crazy glue...
Yep. It makes the chassis stronger, more stiff and safer too. I also think it costs less. I'm not too sure about that.

But 5million credits!
You can buy a new car for this kinda cash. You can buy an NSX for less than 5mil.
Unrealistically priced IMO. But still a great feature.
