But that's because I created a website:

http://www.carsource.org

We're a little sparse for the time being but the hope is 100 cars by the end of September. Let me know what you guys think!

I don't know if you have read my concise review of your site yet.

Christ, I told you I'd help you code it! The source code makes me cry. :( (As do the splash screen and non-textual captions.)

Otherwise, great resource – I hate trying to find specs like that on the web, so this'll be perfect. What about buying carsource.com?

It's already outdated - the license plates were filler; they're gone now. You're just mad because TVRs and Polos aren't plastered everywhere.

Damn Brit.

The goal is simplicity, Sage - black and white with pictures. Anything more is overdoing it. Substance over style, form follows function. You could learn a thing or two from CarSource.

I attempted to register it and it wasn't available. I'm not paying more than I have to. Competency will be rewarded with hits, regardless of domain. Plus, I know of a very popular Gran Turismo site that uses a domain other than .com.

I wasn't going to mention it, but I'm crying too :p

What ever happened to that Mexican Polo sedan you took a picture of? That wasn't called a Polo.

Also, live in Europe and cover the European market because I know how you love British sportscars. ;)

No no, not the design – I could care less about the design. The code itself is horrendous – I mean for christ's sake, FONT tags?! U tags? And I am genuinely surprised that it it even renders without a body tag (yours is the first site I've ever seen without a body tag).

Me help you! Even if it means getting on AIM.

It doesn't have body tags! I haven't coded html in over four years (even then it was brief) and I know that isn't good.

Volkswagen Derby. Wasn't that the Seat Cordoba?

I'd rather eat myself than buy - or look at - a British sports car. I'm beginning to hate Saab now too. YV1 > YS3.

Honestly, Sage, I have a program (NOT FrontPage) that unknowingly creates the HTML for me in large part. I pay little attention to it.

It pains me to say this, but I really think there's a good possibility FrontPage could code it better. I mean last time I checked FrontPage uses the body tag and has title in the header ....

Blake

Haven't got FrontPage, and don't need it.

I don't even know how to access the source code, nor do I care that it shows my rudimentary coding. What you guys forget is 99% of users really couldn't give a **** how it's coded, just how it comes out. Duh?

Being a computer geek - *cough* Sage *cough* - it's sometimes easy to forget that.

Even Frontpage creates better HTML than that. What kind of nonsense program puts the title tag after a paragraph tag?

I don't have the know-how to create a full-fledged CMS, but you could, in all seriousness, get better results by just typing straight into a blogging CMS – at least it'll output kosher code, and in fact it might be even easier to use than a WYSIWYG HTML editor.

Seat Cordoba and Polo Saloon. The seat just had a slightly different bodystyle. I mean even the Interior of that gen Cordoba pretty much mirrors my Polo hatch. Even down to the headlight knob thingy.

I NEED VW DERBY RECOGNITION ON YOUR SITE

Are you going to include chassis and engine codes?

Sage

I put it there myself, and that's because there's too much at the top to remember to include it. What difference does it make where the title tag is? None, since the title still shows up. I'm serious - you guys forget that no one except you guys will go over the code line by line to find flaws. You're missing the entire point of the site!

The program I use is a word processor which converts the text into HTML without knowing it. I refuse to divulge the name of the word processor for fear that its makers will correct the "problem."

But it was never sold in the US. The closest thing we get or got to the Polo is the Golf. And New Beetle. Sorry Brett, you're SOL. :(

PS
Are you going to include chassis and engine codes?
I only have plans to include chassis codes for BMW, Mercedes, and General Motors. No engine codes. I'm welcome to changing that, but I really don't know enough about the stuff yet. Perhaps with time engine codes will come.

That's advertising, Doug, I'm afraid we'll have to close this.

Well, the chassis and engine codes for the imports shouldn't be too hard to find, everyone knows those (FC3S - FD3S, 13b etc. ). I hardly know any American chassis/engine codes though.

No, it's explaining why I haven't been around. How did that link get in there?! Crazy!

Get Phil to close it and I'll go along with it. Or bring back Dudebusta. Or Josh.

Well, I've got a section on VIN numbers, and believe it or not, that's where your little chassis codes come from. :)

If I could find a source that detailed engine codes, I'd run with it, but that information is simply too difficult to come by. Honestly, it's a good idea and I've considered it, but until it becomes feasible I can't do it. :(

Awesome logo! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

I thought that Toyota 4Runner VIN looked familiar...

Thank you, I enjoy it very much. :)

Forget the 4Runner, perhaps you'd be surprised to know the 1993-1995 "FD" Mazda RX-7's VIN code is "JM1FD33". And the Hachi-Roku, the "AE86" everyone loves so much? "JT2AE86". Your chassis codes come from my VIN numbers. :D

No, not that surprised. Sorry.

When did you start on this site, anyway?

I started gathering pictures in June; I registered the domain about three weeks ago.

Damn, you work slow. :p

There's about 600 pictures in total. What I've uploaded so far is a fraction of what exists - building the pages takes massive amounts of time. Finding the pictures and the data is not an easy task.
