Having raced at "grass roots" pro (but hobby for us) level in several California desert series (La Rana) and a few SCORE and SCORE HYDRA races like the Mint/Ultra Wheels 400 and at Parker and having attended Baja helping out on a crew several times,
I can say this is not a ralley (rally?) race. Baja is 500 or 1000 miles of foot deep ruts, deep silt, river rocks, sand, jumps, holes, burms, washboard and did I mention foot deep ruts, and RUTS.
A WRC race is a dirt road and graded in comparison.
Most vehicles are challenged to even finish at half of race speeds.
I have pre-ran about 200 miles in a Toyota 4x4 (not race prepped but way far from stock)before and let me tell you, there were a lot of times when you are going less than 10 MPH (~15-20 KPH) and think your going too fast for the section.
