Why is our time and effort less valuable than yours?

I don't know the answer to that, Why is your time less valuable than mine?

ANYONE AND EVERYONE, PM me with ANY QUESTIONS you might have. I will take great delight in helping Noobs find the answers they need to make the game more enjoyable.

I ws wondering if you wanted a compromise. The threads get closed so we're happy and we force feed you the links so you are happy. Understand now.
Hit the bong again and try explaining it one more time.

GBP/USD will be in the 1.66-1.70 range by the end of the year. already down .15 from its high. I expected you to know more about economics of your area than to laugh at the euro dropping like a stone.

gotta let you guys go, it has been fun. Good job keeping the bandwidth from bogging down. If everyone were having fun, there would definately be too many people in here.

Won't try again, wouldn't want to make my fingers ache.

Oh and the exchange rate still guarantees bargains when travelling to the states.

I'm not the one asking stupid questions I'm too lazy to look for myself. That automatically makes my time - and anybody who tries to help themselves - more valuable than those who won't.

Nope, forget it. You saw fit to throw your little hissy in public. You'll do your time in public. Community service, bud. It shouldn't be a problem for you, since after all it's no problem to help everybody out, no matter how stupid the question.

not a hissy fit, just a statement, I thought this was public HERE. Obviously you are too much off a puss to keep the thread open to see how many believe like I do.

Too late. They have me for that.

Are you still here? You said you were leaving 8 minutes ago.

yeah, i left the window open as I had a few trades to execute in another window. Signing off now for good. Thanks for your concern, obviously nothing else going on in your life if my leaving is on your front burner.

This thread is still open. And if people were supposedly going to private message you their questions, how exactly is that PUBLIC?
:dunce:

I closed your other thread because it was posted on the wrong board. There's a forum for site feedback. And if you had searched for the words "search police" or "search nazis", you would have found many threads on the same subject...

As if we cared about people who have hissies when someone tells them to search. The new members worth keeping grasp the search concept pretty quickly and are no longer a problem. Then they become long term contributing members, and guess what? They aren't n00bs any more.

I thought you were leaving, anyway, because we had turned this place into a shell. Or did we ruin your snappy exit by failing to care?

It's easy to trot out the old, use the search button, time and time again, if you know the answer to someones question, instead of whining, give them the answer, end of thread, no space or time wasted. But no, you'd rather do the search button thing and create a couple of pages of drivel wasting time and space, where's your logic. If someone does come out with "I'm too lazy" they should be shot down, not everyone who asks something you already know. Remember some people may have looked at the question and thought "Hey, good point, what is that?" but not thought about it or searched for it before, so it is a valid post.
Can I also say that the thinly veiled threat over the reply of "And?" implying Wilsonk will find himself under threat from the full force of Admin is utterly pathetic and smacks of "it's my ball and you can't play" Recently I've found Wilsonk to be one of the more helpful and laid back members around and God knows all forums need more of these than the search function police.

Good point.

However if wilsonk conducted himself in a more respectable manner I'm sure this thread would have been more civil, along with more people supporting his idea. But who supports someone who insults an admin? I admire him for 'standing up' but he did it in wrong way. By the way wilsonk doesn't appear to be completely laid back to me. But I must say I am more annoyed by people who vehemently point noobs at the search button. A friendly "here is the answer, I used the search button, you should too" would work fine, in my opinion. :)

Thank you very much, I know I am not alone. I have also made my point and now will be quiet in the matter. I WILL stick around for the sake of the noobs and helping them get to my point in the game and understanding. I enjoy helping others and wouldn't want to abandone the noobs with stupid questions which when answered will help them. I am above it all.

and as for bargains in the US, are they bargains here or a rip off there. Take an economics course and decide for yourself. so now i am above it all.

But it is time and space wasted. Because say the person - you, or whoever - gets a quick easy answer to something because we're not supposed to yell at anyone, and should always be perfectly helpful.

What happens? You learn that you can post anything you want and people will politely tolerate it, instead of learning that you can think for yourself and help yourself.

I'd rather waste a few posts telling someone to wise up then waste a few dozen posts bottlefeeding him like a baby.

He wasn't getting the more subtle approach, obviously, or he never would have posted the "and?" comment to begin with. I posted my thoughts; he attacked them and my authority. So I made the weight of my authority a little more explicit. Note that I didn't threaten to ban him; I just mentioned he would find out what my authority meant.

If I wanted to be a Napoleon, I would have just banned him outright. Moderators can always get the last word if they want it. but I didn't do that.
Recently I've found Wilsonk to be one of the more helpful and laid back members around and God knows all forums need more of these than the search function police.
Obviously not very laid back. And I notice he wasn't very quick to accept his helpful new role as Reference Librarian; he pretty much left in a huff, if he's left yet.

[edit] Ahh, I see he's decided to put up and shut up. I wish him well in his role as a long term contributing member.

AWESOME!!!, but I need double what you are paying Famine. I can't leave, I love GT too much and I love the noobs. So when do I start as reference librarian? Can I get a name tag? and read again, I said I would NOT be a long term contributor, (post #26) but now I am warming up to the idea.

It really is that simple, people.

Give a man a fish and he has a meal. Teach a man to fish and he has food for life (assuming no-one fills his pond with mercury or slurry).

Give a newbie an answer and his problem is solved. Teach a newbie to search and ALL of his problems are solved for the rest of his membership.

I realise it's ironic that I say this, but post count isn't the be-all and end-all. Many of the very best and most productive members have relatively small post counts because they know not to bother other people with answers that can be easily found, while at the same time providing answers in the form of research and FAQ lists.

Kenny,

you are right, I could have behaved better. I apologize to any non-search function police that I bothered. I felt I had a good point and maybe I lost it in the process. Point taken.

I'm not so sure, most people will only start using the search function when they have been on for a while and start noticing repeat questions for themselves, surely you must have seen that for all the replies yelling "use the search button" someone else will answer the question thus, as you intimated, spoon feeding the guy asking the question. You've also got the fact that the search button doesn't help unless you need a specific point answered and not some vague view you want help with. Trawling through 30 pages of search results is a drag but hey if I just post a thread asking........................

What is that word? Smugness, elitism, superiority?

Nice try... ;)

So when do I start as reference librarian?
You can't be a reference librarian. What's the Dewey number for motorsport?
