...how to properly take care of a goddamn cd. Is that so hard to do? Are people so retarted as to handle a cd? The library on my college lets you borrow music cds and dvds, but the quantity of them being scratched almost to the point of being unplayable is just too big. Not only happens here, but in my town library, and in every Blockbuster.

That is what people need to do.

Maybe there should be a class in HS, Cd-care 101.

:grumpy:

Maybe. Or maybe not. People tend to take better care of their own property. Any sort of collective property is a bad idea for this very reason.

Robert Heinlein once said that you can tell the moral condition of a given society by the condition of its public restrooms.

He's my hero.

*most* north america in general - some diiiirrrrrrty public washrooms depending on where you go. Still, nothing gets worse than the ones in Pakistan - but the reason for the conditions there is that even the people raised there can barely handle the water :S

Couldn't have put it better myself..

Have you seen the restrooms off I - 95 in Florida. . . Holy omg

Have you seen the public restrooms in France? Where the urinal consists of a floor drain?

That's without even getting into the so-called "Third World".

"Third World".
That would sum up the bathrooms on I95 in Florida. . . a plot of land and a shovel. . . at least they supply a shovel so you might consider that "Second World". . .

umm...those floor drains are used a lot out in the east and in europe. Many places even use a weird hole in the ground thing as a toilet. It just depends on the culture.

Screw that. I'm not gonna show complete care for rented....anything.

But i won't use the CDs as coasters and frisbees, either.

My grandfather talks about the toilets in Rome during the war. Holes in the floor. Yuck.

My little sister used to call out-houses "guzz-buckets".

And that's without mentioning the French pissoirs - open air urinals...

I NEVER lend anything of mine to anyone any more. Whenever I've lent a floppy disk, CD or book in the past, it's come back in a far worse condition - in some cases worse than books I'd had for 20 years. And I despise people who abuse books.

It's not that people need to learn how to look after stuff - they need to learn courtesy. If it's not yours, don't treat it like smeg.

yes, people have no idea how to handle compact discs in any form. It's like, I look at the bottom of my CDs; averaging less than a single scratch per surface. And then when I look at someone else's copy of the same CD I see that it has been scratched beyond anything I've ever seen before! it's insane!

My CD collection is is very good condition, hardly any scatches at all, and tonight my brother asked me if he could use one of my CDs...and His CD collectin is horrible (only 3/4 actually play without skipping) and he was very confused why I said no:lol:

It's like when I rented Need for Speed Underground. It was out for one and a half weeks, and then I get it and it's all scratched. I always take care of other people's property and hopefully they'll do the same for me.

have you ever gotten a cd from blockbuster that looked as though someone took it and dragged it across a brick wall?

yeah alot!! sometime it wont even play...that makes me mad!!!:banghead:

I try not to lend stuff to people either. My current bugbear is when you tape a TV show, and then lend someone the tape. Then, instead of giving you your tape back, they give you one that is shorter or of inferior quality.

I don't lend anyone anything. But I'm a miserable old sod, so there you go.

Then I'm a miserable young sod, because I hate lending out stuff too, and for the exact reason already outlined - It usually comes back in worse shape than when it was lent, or in some cases I've had people who've lost stuff that I lent to them. These days I always keep a cheap pen in backpack for lending, since I won't miss it if it's lost.
