I need clarification on clutch

Okay so call me a noob but im not quite sure how to use a clutch. I know its a pedal and has to do with shifting but thats about it. Why do some people think clutch is better?

In a car with a manual transmission, you depress the clutch pedal to disconnect the engine from the transmission, thereby allowing you to change gear without grinding the gears.

or something like that.

p.s.: Real drifters do not use cluch kick that much to my knowledge, i prefer weight transfer myself to start a drift.

Hmmm.... I'd say 'real' drifters (or any drifters) would be using all sorts of clutch modulation and other clutch techniques when playing with weight transfer... (including clutch kick)...

Wow, this is a toughie to explain. ill have a go!
Ok assuming that the makers of the hardware your using designed it as a racing clutch and it works in a similar way to the real world it will have a very narrow biting point, so its basically either engaged or not. So to play with the release of power to the driving wheels you control the amount of gas you give and when you release the clutch the driving wheels willl respond accordingly. In racing you would want a fast clutch depression (possibly a double de clutch if climbing or overtaking). In drifting you can over rev the car with the clutch depressed and release it as you go into a turn which will spin up your driving wheels.
Im boring myself now so ill shut up, i know about this stuff in real life but dont have a clutch with my DFGT!

Thanks guys this was really helpfull. I wish the driving force gt had a clutch. :( Does anyone know where i can get g25/27 pedals without the wheel?

Unfortunately you can't just plug the G25/G27 pedals into the DFGT. They don't work together. Even if they did, a clutch is pretty much useless if you would be using a sequential shifter(Up and down.) The g25/g27 has an h-shifter, so if you want to drive a manual properly, you should properly get one of those.
