I noticed some interesting things...

You said it yourself: Arcade Racer.

I had so much fun playing Mario Kart 64, even thought it had this sort of boost enabled (last places get better items), that's what make the game fun, you go all the way through the circuit thinking "oh, ****, here comes the blue turtle", and you laugh about it - or get pissed off LOL. I also had much fun playing Cruisin' the World and USA, and the boost was obviously there. But those games are to have fun without worrying about anything else.

This is Gran Turismo we are talking about, you can't afford to call it The Real Driving simulator, when you get grip out of nowhere, or you loose it without really affect your driving techniques, you can brake and accelerate in the same spots while you are "boosted", but the seconds come alone without even notice you are going 10 seconds faster.

Adding some weight on a car for the next race is one thing; having your grip levels, brake efficiency, etc., tampered with while actually racing is another.

At the very least, there should be an option to turn it off. I wouldn't mind not being able to get back on the front of the race after a spin, as long as I knew that my laptimes and how the car performs on track wasn't controlled by some obscure lines of program.
So much so that so far nobody came with an explanation on what it does exactly.

they get weight added to the car. i agree with his point of view just think of it as you having a weight penalty like in the ALMS or BTCC. i agree with what kazunori has done.
Just that they don't get the weight added DURING the race...
I don't agree at all, the boost is horrible i hate it!
The thing is your average casual player can destroy a race easily with ten other players who all want to race properly, because of the boost! If a guy spins out he cannot catchup within on lap while you continue racing properly !
NO Way!! whether PD removes that stuff or changes the name REAL TIME TRAVEL SIMULATOR, aye? :yuck:
The online sucks so much its unbelievable people still defend it.

Casual average driver doesn't mean punter. It means someone who may be perfectly clean and fair, just not up to full speed in comparison.

Oh well, but my point is most average players will always look for something to beat the more experienced. Boost, ghosting and penalties make it just more too easy for them, i'd say.
ok watching F1 now, lets see if the leader gets weight added ( by fly)

If you're letting little thing like this put you off from getting GT5P, then you're selling yourself short. I rarely race online, yet after almost 3 months of owning this game (and almost daily usage), this game still blows me away with what it does well: as a driving simulator. Provided you own a good steering wheel and you're interest is not solely to race, then there's plenty of enjoyment to be had.

I'll be honest that's not the only thing that's putting me off getting PS3 and GT5P. The overpriced console is playing a much bigger part. I will get one, just not yet :)

To get my GT fix I pop into my local PC World during my lunch break and have a blast. You can never get on the PS3 during the weekends as all the school kids are line a stern waiting to have a go :sly:
