I Quit GT4, PD made it way to hard for the Average Racer.

dont give up, keep practicing and it wont frustrate you, and dont forget to take breaks and eat while going insane with missions. VTGT07, i noticed that your 42.7 % done and only have 1,564,221 credits, how many cars do you buy everytime you look in the used car lot!lol

Haha. Well I'm trying to collect all the rare cars, so probably 2 or 3 each time. Currently I'm at 50% with about 1.8 million credits.

I think it is too early to say. At the weekend I completed B,A and IB and tried golding the lot, came away with 40Gs mainly pace car laps on Silver. IA is almost complete with mostly Silvers. Nurburgring looks frightening. Done a few races and they were EASY (both senses of the word). Time will tell ....

I all golded previous GT series, and I aim to do likewise, mixing up races & licenses. I hear the Missions will be fun ... but I killed the first 10 very quickly.

My early doors views are:
Bronzes and Silver seem a lot easier, a few Golds do look very tricky.
Rally cars seem to 'float' a lot but that might be me getting used to them and I've golded the dirt & snow tests so far.

I think it is important for the average racer to have easier bronzes than GT3 and they have done that. But, people need to be patient and practise. If you master a game quickly then it will not last long and will not be very rewarding. I was very proud of getting all golds on GT3.

im in the same position of having no money, i buy cars from the used car lot , tune up.. and wether its good not im stuck with it or stuck selling it for pittance. because of this my money seems to be going up to about 50k then back down to 0 again.. i cant be financially ruined in a game aswell as irl goddammit!!

I think your a below average racer.
That isn't constructive. You can do better than that.

To the original poster: Yes, it's not EASY. If it was, most people would already be getting bored with it. Easy games suck. It may not be EASY but it's certainly not DIFFICULT to pass if you pay attention to what you're doing and learn from your mistakes. If you can't learn to analyze what's going wrong, you're right, it will remain impossible. But if you are careful and make changes to your approach and see what those changes do, you WILL improve.

I only red the first post, and i gotta say.

when i first got the game. i couldnt get used to it! i was really shocked at how different it was to Prologue.

i loved the Evo's in Prologue, they were fun just to throw round the corners with the Driving Force Pro.

when i took out a evo on GT4 i was really struggling to get used to the breakin and accelerating round corners but after a day i got used to it. (The Ring and a Evo 8 helped)

i gotta say tho. its really grown on me. its just such a great game.. i find it easy and hard. just depends what you wanna do.

for the GT Mode, i spent most my 110,000 on a Focus RS and tuned her up and saved some money and got myself a Evo 5. and i just kept winning cars and keeping the ones that were quick. and just spent a bit of money on them. and they win all the professional races no problem at all.

Have to say tho, i love giving a Evo death in real life, and in the game its just as good! changing the ASM so it slides that back side out at the corners and your all the way! lol, nothing better than the sound of a Evo going round a corner and tires squeeling.

The Endurance Races are gonna be the most challenging for me. done the 4H Nurburgring race. and won no problem. Cant wait to do the 24hour one.

as a matter of fact i think ill go start it just now.

i was looking forward to GT4 since the day i got GT3 to be honest and its definatly been worth the wait for me. i thin kthey did a good job. i think theres something in it for everyone.

GT4 The best racing game out!! 👍

Well Said Duke!!

pick a long , fast track. and just go round and round and round racing your ghost. you'll be suprised how good you can get.

Amen to that; you can watch your mistakes and figure out how to avoid making the same errors again, keep trying and above all keep learning... Even the top drivers learn something new everyday and if they don't they're doing something wrong.

Haha, you sound like me. I haven't bought a new car, yet I have about 5 used TVR's and countless other cars from the used lot and i've got sod all cash.

I've golded every licence upto S, which I haven't started yet. I always think of the licences as a fun challenge, not as a chore. I save my loathing for those pexy coffee breaks (how I hate them) for no apparent reason. If I went around going 'O NOEZ teh licences I haet teh licencez' I probably wouldn't enjoy them.

I think you're reaching too high. It's a great game even for the average gamer, but don't expect to get 100%. Beat what you can, there's tons of different races in there. Even the best don't get 100%, just play the races you want to play and don't worry about beating every inch of the game. 80% of the people who play this game probably won't hit 100%.

The licenses are a lot easier in this game than in GT3 I think. I remember when it came to IA and S licenses it took me hundreds of tries to just get bronze in those. In GT4 I'm almost done with IA and it only took me like an hour.

Sorry I don't feel sympathy for you though, if you want to give up fine it's sure as hell not affecting my enjoyment of the game.

This game being alot harder has turned me off it. I can't do any of the Mission after Mission 10. I can't even get close to 8 of the Super Licences I have left.

If your not a mad GT4 fan this game all seems to hard and frustrating. They should of Introduced a medal system in the missions. Such as if you pass all 6 cars you get gold, 5 is silver and 4 is bronze. Then the average racer might have a chance.

As for Licences some seem near impossible to even get bronze, I don't have a clue how some of you manage to Gold everything.

jesus... too hard? if anything the game is TOO easy!

this is the first time i've seen anyone complain about this, GT has all aids ON by default, which make the car pretty much drive itself, and has "S2" tyres on, which are VERY arcade like, to get the game to feel realistic you have to use N2 tyres (aka, comfort) and turn ALL aids off.

Licences imposible? WHAT? you don't even have to try hard to get silver, and to get bronze all you have to do is finish the test... oh wait, i get it, this is a joke, GOOD ONE.

You might find it helpful to try other parts and challenges in the game first then with the skills you get from them you can come back and blow those missions out and laugh at yourself later when you realize what you are capable of. Its easy to give up on anything and you get nothing from it but sticking to something is most rewarding but you've gotta work for it. :)

Well obviously different people are going to feel differently about whether the game is too easy, too hard, or just right. I don't think it's appropriate to put someone down for having difficulty. Personally, I am finding quite a few of the races challenging. I LIKE that! I don't want a game that is so simple I can beat it without trying. This game makes me angry and I cuss it daily.....which means I'm having a blast! This game is much more fun so far than any of the previous ones.

I use the hand controller, and I've Golded 75 out of 80 license tests and I've completed every Mission event except for the last one at the Ring. Do I think it's been easy? Hell no. I have done absolutely nothing but run license tests and Mission Hall events since picking up the game Feb 22nd. I'm at 411 game days, so that should tell you how much I've had to keep running these events over and over. It takes a lot of practice, and you have to try experimenting with different techniques to find out where you're losing time. The fact that it's difficult makes it so much more rewarding when you achieve your goals.

My only fear is that once I'm through with the licenses and the Mission Hall, the rest of the game won't be as difficult. I can always use weaker cars to keep it challenging though. I think that's the thing that makes the Missions and Licenses so hard for people: You can't pick a faster car, and you can't take short cuts.

There's so much to the game though, I can't imagine not being able to have fun SOMEWHERE, regardless of your skill level.

Personally, I like the idea of having all golds or completing the missions actually MEAN something. If everyone could do it easily, then it wouldn't really be much of an acomplishment.

The number of people saying "GT4 is easy" i think is astonishing. Come on - look at yourselves. You probably spend every moment of everyday practising the art - no wonder you're gonna find it easy. I think its off-putting to hear "yea its real easy" when you're playing the game yourself, and cannot achieve the same no matter how hard you try... hardly confidence-inducing when you're 2 secs of the gold time and some guy goes "yea, 2 tries, easy mate". Thats what makes me give up. I havent even got GT4 yet - to hear this is disturbing :scared: :nervous:

Are you suggesting that some people just arent good enough?? How insanely egocentric do you want to be?? PD should make the game challenging for those who are good, but equally accessible AND completeable by all. What you all fail to see is that, thru practise, you get to a point where the game no longer presents a challenge, and so you ***** n moan about how easy and dull it becomes - well, thats because you've reached the point you are supposed to.

Practising does work - but there is one FATAL flaw. I happen to have a life that doesnt revolve around a PS2 - im lucky to spend 4hrs on it in a week. As a result, I have less time to practise, less time to get better. But wait a second - why should I sit there, when I can earn the skills thatll get me a real decent car. No matter how good the simulator - the real thing cannot be beaten.

Now please, encourage the less able among us, those who GT is a seldom but great experience. You should not be alienating members because you think they are not as good. One day in your life - you were worse. You couldn't drive a thing. So to you all I say this: don't be a hypocrite.

i now where this post is coming from. I bought GT4 on saturday and i silvered all except 14 of the special tests. Most of them just took 2 or even 1 attempt to get it right, i had to spend adleast 2 frustrating hours in arcade learning the new physics engine, it was hard as i was playing GT3 4 hours before GT4! Basically i cant understand how some people get all golds on the licenses! I use DS constroller and the test where your in a black skyline at the chicane at Fuji took me over 1 hour to get silver! Worse still cant exactly remember the silver pass but say it is 32:800 seconds, on one run i got 32:802 and for 40 minutes could not do better! As for the missions, i tired number 11, hit all the apex's slow in fast out ble bla bla bla and i still came 2nd with the 1st car 4 seconds infront! GGRRRR! I am doing the special licenses occasionaly, i sit down choose just 1 and silver it, then go race! I think this game is amazing, above my expectations but i do find some things are a little to difficult!

But think how pumped you're going to be when you finally beat thosee tests! And believe me, you WILL beat them. There were some nights where I only completed ONE test before I was ready to go to bed. It's all worth it. 👍

It's not so hard tho, i've finish all license and mission (but not last one mission), in no problem, it's all in experience of driving! and know the machine, course, and battle... just DON'T GIVE UP, once you get experience and knowing how to drive, you'll beat it someday :)

Tips on getting golds on licences:
  • first just try to complete the licence slowly, even if you fail the time but you reach the end of a test, you get a ghost, which you can use to improve your time.
  • watch the demos, not once, not twice, watch it until you have an idea how and where to drive, brake, step of the gas, ... also it shows you it's possible to gold, so it could build up your self-confidence
  • but don't rely on it for 100 %, cause you can sometimes take a corner faster then the demo by getting off the track on certain points, (not on grass (mostly) of course, but on the asphalt. (sp?))
  • do take risks, you learn from them where you can do them and where you shouldn't bother
  • now this one's isn't really fair, but you can actually ride the walls on certains licence test without failing, which can reduce your time a lot (especially the rally ones)
  • and last but not least practice practice practice

I've played GT4 a total of about 10 hours, and I got it on North American opening day. I rarely get 2 hours at a stretch to sit and play - definitely less than 4 hours a week. It took me more than a year and a half to work my way through GT3 to 100%. I'm solidly in the bottom tier of any Online Racing event I've ever run.

In addition to a new physics model, I'm learning a totally new control system. I just bought a wheel to go with GT4, and I've never used one before. It's been quite an adjustment. No more hyper countersteering and instant corrections.

Nonetheless, considering myself a totally average racer, I can't say they've made the game too hard to play.

I think GT3 was harder!

I can agree with that to a certain extent, in that giving you cars for simple races and licence tests makes progession alot faster, but the actual racing seems a fair bit more difficult in gt4 althought the AI isnt great i do think its improved 👍 i have had some very close races

I have to agree the game is hard for casual gamers
none of my friends are capable to play this game at all

for me, without the driving wheel, I just can't drive any 400+hp cars
buttons are way too sensitive imo
so I only spend time driving stock cars in arcade
in GT mode, I B-Spec to unlock cars
however, I only finish up to IA license with silver or better

I didn't even own/play GT3 and I was able to pass all the missions halls (except the last one) and get gold on all licenses. It just takes a little practice, patience, and knowledge of how different cars handle. It also helps to know the lines.

Alright dude, relax, I'm part of the 80% that's not going for 100%. Look at my division in the WRS, i'm in the SLOW division. I don't ever plan on beating every single race and every driving mission, I'll do the ones that I find fun. I don't ever plan on getting 100%. I've played once in the past week. I'm just like you dude, just playing the game. This is probably one of the toughest games out there to fully complete, contrary to what most people in this thread think. So relax, enjoy the game, Race the races you want to race, if you can't beat it, #### it, race something you find more enjoyable. There's tons of different races to go into.

So far I only race 2 things 70% of the time, Time trial on the ring and on Citta Di Aria. I don't ever intend on beating the game, maybe 2 years from now. But for now, I'm just gonna race what I want to race.
