I Quit GT4, PD made it way to hard for the Average Racer.

I think the response to this is quite simple. If you're not willing to step up to the challenge, then go play NFSU. If you want something challenging, put a little more thought and effort into GT4.

If you want to be an average racer/driver play and average game. If you want to be above average, you play the above average games.

I don't think there is much point giving advice to people who are 'new' to the GT series and have a lot to complain... (Coincidentally my friend's brothers 11, 12 year olds, call GT4 a stupid game cause its hard...) From what I've read they do not seem to understand the whole point of the GT series, Driving Experience... PD gave us the ability to do whatever we want to do with the game...

Want to pass the races easy? make your cars faster... Want some challenge? Use a car with hp the same or less than the competition... Don't want to do a particular race? Don't do it or use B-Spec mode... There is no end to GT (especially with being able to do any championship or series again and gaining a prize again)...

When I started GT3 I used to use cars that were overpowering the competition... But later after I gained some experience I went to the races again with cars in a similar level with the competition... Or used several cars to redo a championship cause it was interesting... I fine tuned my cars and raced them again... Lowered hp, increased hp, etc... I wished some series were able to be done over again and GT4 definitely made that possible...

If thats not your cup tea then stay away from GT4... (Play Burnout 3 or NFSU2 or the to be released MidnightClub3... They are good racing games that may fit your gaming style)

just wondering...
for you "i can enter a race with super over-powered car and that destroy the fun" people, how many of you only play in easy mode of other games when u play them? much of the time there's no bonus for playing in hard or extreme mode...
e.g. i play DDR (shut up...) and no one is forcing me to play extreme... but it's just more fun....
i think that goes for GT4 as well.... no one is forcing you to enter all race with grossly over-powered cars.... but you get better self-satisfation when you make a challenging race...

Personally, I am welcoming the added hardness of the game. It's called realism. Only say 1% of use would actually be able to do most of those laps we pull in the game, anyway.

Code Breaker

All you have to do to get all gold licenses is the following:
1st, get all bronze - save game
2nd, pick one test you can turn gold, but don't save game
3rd, get into code breaker and turn on all the tests into gold, EXCEPT the one you CAN turn into gold yourself, that one you leave bronze, save game
4th, so now you have all gold but one bronze, so you turn that bronze into silver, you get the silver prize car, then turn it into gold and you get the gold prize car.
See? simple

plus with code breaker, you can do so much more too, like "no tire wear" code, you can go lap after lap without having to change your tires.

what fun is cheating? well, if you can't beat 'em, cheat 'em! (plus you get the cars! which is what really matters)

Then you're not implimenting those tips properly. They work. I passed the test the same way.

Yes, that is what I also thought!!!!

But after trying test after test, it doesn't work. When I push a car round the track and come out of its slipstream (last corner, the corner before, etc... tried everything), I still cant catch the leader. Drafting doesn't work either because when I pass the group after the first turn at 282 km/h and I stay in front of them (far or just in front) they DO NOT slipstream behind me nor pass me. And occasionally when they pass me (because I have to drive slower than the AI drivers, at 250 km/h), the AI drivers pass me just before the next turn and I want to draft them but suddenly they allbreak. They always break before every turn. When I was pushing a AI car around (tried every color), the other start drafting and start to acceletare but they WILL NOT pass me. You probably won't believe it but when they are next to my car they suddenly break (on the straight) and do not pass me, even the others ( the ones (AI) who are driving last start to draft the others and when they catch up with me (me alone or pushing the other car) they just break. Why do they do that? I ALWAYS get out of their path if they start to overtake me when they are drafting me but again in this case they, break or they become driving nest to me not passing me.

I did everything, tried everything so now I know that it is not me (it can't be after implementing every tip I read, even tried combinations of these tips), they just won't pass me or just stay behind me (at let say 50 m behind, all 3 laps.

My approach on all this is to try to maybe mentor those who find GT4 a bit too tough, or completely too tough. Now if I wanted to, I could have made fun of everyone like the school bully or a street thug. Eastley is the author of this thread, and I think that those who may not have so much luck or success in GT4 should sort of think about what has to be done to do much better.

In one way, maybe PD's decision to make this game tougher than tough is perhaps a response to the "GT is too easy" deal. I thought GT3 was tough enough, and GT4 is a brand new challenge for GT veterans like myself. I've raced almost everything from a 2-lap race at High Speed Ring to a 2 hour, 42 minute endurance at Tokyo R246. Some things are still very new to me as I play this game. I don't think that GT4 is so easy a child can do it. Hell, some would probably be crying or throwing a tantrum after losing a race. As I stated before, if it's too tough then nevermind A-Spec/B-Spec points, all golds, 100% completion, and just race to win. If it means to have to rig a machine with a Stage 3 NA or a Stage 4 Turbo (or for some tuner machines, a Stage 5 Turbo), then do it. If you're THAT desperate, go for it. And if you're used to B-Spec Mode, you'd better know how to drive for real when you get to the Special Conditions hall.

So from a passionate approach, if you think you're a horrible GT4 racer, you're not the worst GT racer in the world. Don't put yourself down for losing a race because as I learned, sometimes you have to accept defeat. For myself, when there's a race that I SHOULD have won but didn't, it's simple. Just retry. Keep retrying until you bring home the gold. My win ratio as of the date of this post is 94 of 121 (77.6%). Don't give up. I hope I'm providing sufficient advice to all of you troubled GT4 racers.

I found the key to success...

Many of the struggling drivers try to hard to be perfect. Well no one is perfect, infact most people are far from it. And when it comes to GT4 we have to play to have fun, so relax and have the fun that the game is suppose to deliver. I stopped stressing about trying to do the missions and licences, and guess what?? Next thing I know seconds were being taken off my faster times and I was having fun.

People who try so hard to complete the game with a 100% win ratio are the ones with problems. They try to be the best at it, but in reality there the ones that suck ass because they have to try so hard to be better than everyone else so they'll be noticed. To everyone who has replied that practice and enjoying the game is the key to succeeding are right, we should follow there lead.

I will get back to the missions and licences when ever I feel up for the challenge, if I achieve such feits then so be it, if not then atleast I had fun.

My most biggest achievement lately is in the Endurance race at Infineon Raceway, where I set a lap time of 1:17:00, I was just cruising along averaging about a 1:23:00 on Very bald Tires, when all of a sudden I pulled a 1:17 Min out of the hat. I weren't even really pushing it, I couldn't on the bad tires. Now to others a 1:17 may be slow but for me it's reasonably quick and until I improve it'll be a benchmark, now I can set my 1:17 a time to beat.

With holidays coming up soon the "RING" 24 hour race will be the next one to tackle, I will be doing this in a Minolta of cause, I honestly wouldn't like to lose as repeating a 24 hour race won't be as fun as the first time, but I'll be having fun racing this Enormous course.

So to other players struggling, just relax, laugh and have fun. Don't worry about what times others are doin as your not them and they ain't you.

I can Guarantee, if the struggling drivers just did what I have recently (relax, not stress out and have fun) they'll drive much better and start beating the game we all have be born to play and live.

Anyway, thats my say on what has happened to me the last few days. Thats all I have to say at the moment.

Well, I don't play easy mode, as far as I can think... "normal" at first and then perhaps hard, always depends... the point is that I do not want to be ABLE to enter with a overpowered car, because then I HAVE to take the challenge...
I study medicine, I have enough hard goals to achieve, if I play I don't want to force myself, I have to do that all day in order to learn enough...

It works, believe me. Try dropping to 5th when you turn into the corners.

hey eastley, good job! I'm glad to hear you are having fun. I can't watch you racing, but the old saying comes to mind "slow down to go fast" I think you can understand what that means now. Welcome to the club!

Just like you said...now try to get that 1:17 again. and again, and again.
Being fast is the first hurdle. now be consistantly fast.

Congrats, glad to hear you've worked things out. Sometimes it's easy to get hung up on specifics and forget that it's a game - you're supposed to be enjoying it. If you're not, why would you be playing it in the first place? :)

the licence test really arent that hard. the trick is learning how to manage each drivetrain. you cant drive a FF car like a FR car. it just wont work. i got the Nur S license test on the first try. All i ddi was say to myself, "ok, just stay on the track and you'll be ok. BAM! i got two tenths from silver. the skyline slipstream is very hard though and you just have to drop back and swap draft partners. spread your draft out evenly between each car, because they stay together. Also, if you are having trouble, buy the car in the test, and master the car on various courses. then go back and try the test. you may surprise yourself. keep trying, and good luck

P.S. i have 1 gold licence, 10 silvers. i am not a gt4 whiz or genius. just patient

Do you or anyone else have a time for Infineon Raceway? It's so I know if that time is reasonable or not.

Hey kikie, theres no point in repeating what everyones already said. Some people get mad :grumpy: then some people try and try and help :dopey: and other people read to deep into this thread :nervous: . this thread is getting too long and honestly its not necessary. Pardon the cheesy-ness but you have the skill inside. Everyone does but theres not much more that hasn't already been said that would help. It just takes practice. If you want to give the game great, go ahead but if you really wanted too you would not have started this thread no would you. So take some more advice and use the positives youve been given already and MAKE it work for you. No one else on this forum is any better of a person than you. Maybe a better driver for now but that only you can change now. :sly:

Just thought I would let everyone know that I have now finally completed all the licences. YAY for me.. I got the Nurburgring on the first go. Had 20 second to spare I think.

This game being alot harder has turned me off it. I can't do any of the Mission after Mission 10. I can't even get close to 8 of the Super Licences I have left.

If your not a mad GT4 fan this game all seems to hard and frustrating. They should of Introduced a medal system in the missions. Such as if you pass all 6 cars you get gold, 5 is silver and 4 is bronze. Then the average racer might have a chance.

As for Licences some seem near impossible to even get bronze, I don't have a clue how some of you manage to Gold everything.

You just have to develop your skills, and you'll work out how to do faster laps.
What would be the point if GT4 was easy.... I love that it's really difficult, its a challenge!
I never thought though that i'd be struggling in a Mercedes CLK GTR Lemans racer to win the end race in Proffesional mode, its such a nervous car! Does anyone have any good set ups for it? Mines has over 900 BHP and i de tuned it but its still just as nervous.

Exactly, when i last played GT3, i was 10 seconds faster a lap than when i first started playing. Now thats alot. Practice racing lines, you'll be slower at first but you'll get faster and begin to stick to them.:)

Congrats on the pass!

I think you'll find if you haven't already that the game can be made very easy once you get few cars tuned the way you like. Good to hear that you didn't give up.

I found the Sarthe Circuit S Licence test a challenge, I was very quick until I get to the end of the long straight. All those twists and turns didn't make things easy. However I knew that I was slow around there so I focused on making up the time I was behind in that section. I managed to do the test the third time around. Had a few seconds to spear from the Bronze time. I fear was actually the rally and snow tracks as I have so much trouble with the Rally in GT4, I just can't get it right. However I got all of them except the ICE rally first go. The ICE Rally took 3 goes, I found that Throttling on and off around the bends got the most grip through those corners, then accelerate full throttle out of them. So I am thinking of making a how to pass licence S tests thread, will others be interested in putting into that?

I decided that I'd share my comments all this time simply because as much as I like GT4, I don't think anyone should seriously give up. Sure, I retired a few races and left License Tests incomplete, but I still came back to them and won them all. It's why I say that GT4 is challenging, but not unplayable challenging. Eastley, I'm proud for you as a GT veteran and as a devoted racing gamer. If there is a game that can be beaten and if I've beaten it or come extremely close, I hate seeing others struggle. Aren't some of you finally going to pay attention to me when I've stated that GT4 is going to be a much different experience from past GTs? Everything's changed. Some say the AI is still the same, but most other things are still new or upgraded. Realism. Graphics. Handling. You name it, it's probably been revised. AI is "purposely" tougher. But to understand how worse GT4 COULD have been, play "Pro Race Driver." The AI was so bad in that game that the only way to win races is to not have them punt you off the track into retirement.

The key to winning races, for me, has been getting tough. If you're not ready to throw your car around the track trying to battle for position, you're not ready for GT4. Just hang it up and go home. But as a saying goes, "play hard, or go home." But don't give up. There's a whole mess of stuff to enjoy and have fun with. If you like GT4 but don't feel like racing, there's Photo Mode to show off your cool cars. You can listen to GT4's music in Jukebox if you don't like racing to them (for once since GT1, there was good music to actually race to... in my view). There's lots to do. So have some fun. Be a player, player. And once more... don't give up.

the thing to do at first is to not push hard on your first few laps on the race track learn the lines and as you do more laps push harder and eventually you will even wonder your self ''HOW THE F*!K DID I GO THAT FAST!!'' thats how i get quick on the tracks in gt4 but as well im a nurburgring hor! :scared:

OHHH the Nurburgring, i hate that track and cannot drive it what so ever. Thanks god for B-Spec, thats the only Track I ever B-Spec.

Maybe you are used to pure arcade racing games such as Need for Speed Underground or Burnout 3 where you can do a hairpin at 200km/h? :scared: GT4 is a the most realistic simulator out now which you may not be used to yet. Just keep on trying. if you are struggling, by some cars that you enjoy driving and win some easy races to start off with, so that will give you plenty of confidence for harder races.

You have a valid point about a medal system in the missions.

As I stated in the past, a lot of gamers are going to be like, man! GT4's going to be a good game to add to my collection. As it turns out, with many people looking forward to this game and sitting through delays, the game is finally out. It's okay to admit that you're more of an arcade racer and not very talented with realistic games like GT4. That is perfectly fine. I wouldn't go to the point of "if you don't like GT4, [go back to] play NFS:U." Even from the demo I played of "Burnout 3: Takedown," I didn't see a game like this being any better than GT4 even if there's car damage and online play. If I've never played a GT game before, I'd probably say Burnout and the NFS anthology are the best racing games in existance. I would be learning the ropes of Gran Turismo, not being a pure pro. So I'd be stuck in races as well.

With time, you get better. If you can learn to win races even in rough circumstances, you'll be a great racer. Who wouldn't want to show his/her peers how incredible of a GT racer he/she is? It takes time to be the best. To be at your personal best has no timeframe. The moment you feel you have a comfort zone in Gran Turismo competition, you will begin to seriously feel as if races will be easier and begin to win races and not feel as inconfident as times past. One that comfort zone has been reached, even when you lose a race altogether, you still feel like you lost to a better racer. As I've stated before, when you lose, you learn from it. But if you had a wonderful car, a track you're good at, and still lose the race even if you can win it in your sleep, then how do you respond? Do you respond like, "I should have won this," or "maybe I was overconfident?" Kind of something to think about in your racing.
