I think I broke a light on my car :3

Well at least I think I just did.. Heh.

So I picked one of my most favorite cars in the game and decided to take on the German track that I can never master:

Of couse I would eventually underestimate one corner which would almost always lead to a wreck, but this one specific wipeout made me wonder if this was just a glitch or one of my tailights busted.

Obviously I couldn't notice a difference if the road was lit with less light than before because the track was getting brighter, but anyway, maybe I'll try to bust a headlight in a different car just to see if this turns out not to be a glitch afterall. Still, this caught my attention when I was just running practice laps for the hell of it. Oh, and sorry for the large pictures but I don't know how to make them any smaller when I insert them, sorry. :ouch:

With the damage modelling, you kinda do "break" your lights. It is just the way PD have it set. It is not the best at damaging a car but its something.

WOW! GREAT! FANTASTIC! You should make a thread about it on gtplanet!
That was pretty rude 👎. I'd never seen this happen to me before either out of my time owning GT5, just thought it was interesting. After all, better than all those wishlist threads.

Yeah, got to agree with that!

Sorry, a bit harsh, my bad!

Yea "to break them" the overlap Glow texture* shader* has to be pushed inside the car so when it turn on you don't see it.
With the nomad Diablo the lights disappear but you see a red glow when you break , with some cars its the opposite the lights there but the red glow is gone * shader * the dDiablo doesn't use them for some reason, just a red dot.

Anyone seen how you can bend/disfigure exhaust tips? I did it a few months ago, and I'm not sure if most people know about it.

It's because nothing on a GT5 car is built as it should be, every part has the same deformation qualities which is basically - disfigure. Nothing that should actually break on impact, does.

Great job on documenting this Vitzio :) I've never seen this happen before.

I've crashed my cars on purpuse many times to see if the lights will actually fail, but even when I get to the point where they "melt" into the body, they still work.

I don't know if this is a standard thing and maybe the actual light got behind the taillight, if you know what I mean.

You can literally brake one of the tail lights on the Ferrari SP1. If I remember correctly, it's not due to deformation on that particular car. The tail light will actually cease to function.

When my bobs use the x2010/x2011 on endurance races they brake the front lights and it looks like the car has weapons sticking out on the front

I've gotten pretty close to doing something like this before.

One of my Bobs broke the right taillight on a Peugeot 908 once, although it was more like they disappeared entirely, the panel where the lights were supposed to be just had a solid gray color. Sadly I didn't think to take a pic.

PD has miles to go in this department. I don't like seeing the visual damage in any game, unless it's like Dirt's visual damage model.

Yes! I just confirmed that. I happens mostly with cars with very tiny lights since you can bend the body around it, or simply push the light layer inside the physical tail light.

I also managed to do it with the Ford GT LM with its headlights. Although the light could be seen coming out of the nothing, the headlight itself was so deformed that no light came out of it. Only works with the Standard GT LM, though.

It's quite a nice drawing, I must admit it.

And what, you no like mine? I drew myself :D

This happened to me once. I was driving the Audi R8 ORECA '05 and i hit the wall and my front left headlight went out.

Guess it's not just a standard thing. I actually had no idea that we could break our car's head lights and tail lights until now. :p

Hmm, are you sure it was the tail light, and not just the advertisement on the back on the car which says "Total"? because the tail lights on the 908 are at the bottom by the rear diffuser, I circled them in this pic. Just thought I'd verify if you're thinking the right thing.
