I really want to get my g27 running in my living room hooked up to a pc. I have GTR2 but after seeing the videos above and all these real fine tracks, I think I'm gonna have to give rFactor a shot!

GTR2 runs on the Rfactor physics engine. Sounds wise it depends on the mod, some Rfactor mods do actually sound better than any professional game. Modders cleverly use recordings from live broadcasts and recordings of races/cars and stitch them together.

There are some amazing sounding (and plenty of not so) mods, one car that always blows my mind is F1 1991 mod with the Williams FW14 car, just amazing.


Rfactor is ALL about mods, user created content. Some of the mods are quite amazing, and the ammount of stuff you can get with the game is almost endless. The graphics aren't amazing, but they polish up quite nicely, it depends on the mod.

It sounds even better in person, with a good sound system! Especially on low speed tracks where you aren't on full throttle for most of the time, you hear the nuances better.


Rfactor is an old game (2006?), it will run on pretty much anything, depending on the graphics settings you use.

What crap are you talking, this is no different from the one in GT5. Fast as hell and stop faster than anything in this world. You sure you were watching the same video as everyone else? Spec 2.0 update your X2010 doesn't corner like it's on steroids anymore.

Nice mod though, just a little bit of clean up and it should be perfect.

Not thinking the sound of rFactor / Gtr2 is that uber technological, they use simple .wav loops and samples, the sound engine mix and pitch them according to the Rpm they have to simulate. Modders can edit the .aud file. So yes, if there's something GT5 really need to improve that's the sound.
The best sounding mods Imho are Enduracers for rFactor and Tuning Cars Mod for Gtr2.

You obviously dont play rfactor huh? Rfactor can have whatever it wants cause it needs no licsensing. And the physics sounds track/car collection are 10x the size and better
