I think the X2010 gets too much hate.

thats actually the best idea for a car like this.. a real X2010 taking corners at the horrifically terrifying speeds that the in game car can would almost certainly need to be operated remotely, because if the driver crashed in the car... at 200 mph, mid corner.. it would probably tear right through (or vault right over) the course guardrail or barricades like they were not even there, and the G-force of the crash would most likely leave his (presumably dead) body hanging in a tree somewhere.. its a total must, i would not want to see someone get killed piloting a car this dangerously quick.
IMO the car is completely possible. Think of it like the cell phone in the 1950's... It was one hell of an idea.
Just because it seems impossiblely unfathomable doesn't mean it can't happen.
When it does finally grace us with its presence in reality I think there will be a toned down version for people to race in then a balls out version to be raced remotely from cockpit setups much like what some of you already have and most of us wish we did.
So in theory a big and insainley fast rc car piloted by some amazing divers that spectators could try to watch from the side.
I know somebody if going to rail on me for having said this but hey I'm posting this from my droid in my highschool AP history class. How long ago do you have to go for that to seem impossibley unfathomable?

Edit: sorry for some grammatical and spelling errors. My phone likes to change words on me while I'm using swype texting but I think I fixed most.

I just hate it because it's overused in online races. And that people always drive the opposite way on the track and try to slam people head on with it at 300 mph.

This. I've not used mine past the day I got it. I hate going to online tracks (like Top Gear) only to see X1s flying around crashing in to everybody.

If you want to practice driving one, do it in your own time in practice mode, not on a crowded track online.

Haters gonna hate I guess.

I think the Gforces can be handled if they gave drivers Gsuits. Also, since GSuits are for vertical G's. How about a specially made track with very banked turns? And any mishap, sensors can deploy safety countermeasures. Somehow make the cockpit able to take the force of a crash.

Well if the existed it'd probably have a ejector seat, a supercomputer in the car would detect when it loses control within nanoseconds, so the driver would be outta the car before it would crash. Considering how technology is improving I can see someone making a car just as fast or faster then the x1 within the next 500 years or more.

Alas, De Le Sarthe straight......

In rooms set up for top speed runs running backwards isn't a problem as people use one side of the road for going one way, and the otherside of the road for going back. The problems only arise when people try to race each other at the same time as someone doing a run, or you get idiots parking across the track :grumpy:

You, sir, have earned yourself a baby-cake.

Don't forget the tires has to handle all those G's (over 8 G's) and all the weight forced down on them. Even with a G-suit the driver has to be able to steer and think extreme fast while handling 8 G's.
X2010 in Gt5 is simply a F1 car with some of the physics removed (dumb down). For example you can brake this car just as fast with brake bias set Front:0 Back:10 as Front:10 Back:0.
With the X2010 you don't drive it like a car. For example normally with ABS off I have to brake before entering the corner then use most of the tire grip to turn the car . This is the exact opposite with X2010, you brake and turn hard at the same time.

I dont think you can build a track to sustain 8 G's for a car like this.. it'd have to be banked like daytona but with a constant circle and you going well over 300mph.

I've seen an F-22 do a circle demonstrating the G forces.. and the announcer said the turn was smaller then daytona while the jet was doing about 400 knots which translates to about 330mph? If i remember right the announcer also said it was a 9 G turn..

GT5 is chock full of concepts and prototypes, I don't see why X2010 is any different.

Its different because its a trashy fake car that if ever actually built wouldn't even look comparable to in-game performance. The other cars that PD dreams up are all fine and well, some are modified versions of actual cars and others are of concepts that companies have R&Ded as well. It's real, they're real, and they fit the game perfectly.

BUT THEN... PD wants to push the limits with a car that just is far too ridiculous. It belongs in some futuristic, shoot'em up arcade game - not in Gran Turismo.

And to think how much company time/money was spent rendering this heap of garbage instead of like.... actual cars?? We could've had our Premium RZ or Premium Veyron... but nope. We get stupid, meaningless unrealistic car from the future.

I like the thought of the x2010. It was a technical challenge to see what would happen IF there were no rules and regulations, and to include that in the game to see what it could do, what people think. It is never intended to be built, the g-forces are too high for humans to endure. Gt5 is a great simulator, as proven by many reviews which state so much. You may have a gripe with something in GT5, maybe its the vettel challenge, so you've come here to express your anger to its inclusion. Yes this is a game! so there are achievments to which the game has for you to get. Its difficult, but if it were easy you may be angered by that too. There are issues with the x2010 online, and as for a-spec, its your own choice what you use.

Also hate to double post, but I think you took my quote out of context. The point I was driving in is that something like the X2010 would just be physically impossible IRL because some people use GT5 as some sort of twisted credibility.

I don't have one, and I don't plan on having one. I had my opportunities during the whole free trade thing before the 1,000,000cr limit happened but it just doesn't fit in my garage.

I don't have one, and I don't plan on having one.

Aaaaaaaaand we find out why this haters gotta hate...

They would take the first turn, mis judge it, and clean up crews would be called to bring a shop vac and trash bags instead of... body bag.

If the driver wanted to die intentionally, yes. If not, he'd practice like with every other car and drive successfully.

There isn't much about the X1 that's fantasy. We can all agree, it hasn't been developed to the extent of a real car, but it doesn't violate any laws of physics. Worst thing that would happen if it were built

1. It pulls 6g instead of 8

2. There's an on board computer that limits g load in the turns because the tires/frame can't handle it

And that's that.

Aerodynamically, it's plainly feasible. It's a F1 car with reduced drag and a fan.

Mechanically, it's again a modified F1 car. Chassis without any restriction to degrade performance, standard MR layout, with an above average engine power output.

I'd think that the only reason it's not popular is because some people equate "faster than F1" to being "impossible" without trying to understand the situation.

It just isn't phyiscally possible, IMO. The people that would drive it wouldn't be strong enough to handle it. There wouldn't be tires made from the Star Wars galaxy that would be good enough to keep it on the track outside of a straight line. It surely can be made, it doesn't really look that complicated especially for the companies that R&D F1 cars and race them - but it wouldn't look anything like it does in GT5.

What's supporting this?

Pilots pull more g's, and rocket sled riders have pulled even more g's. Same for astronauts in testing. And then there's the computer limited idea I talked about.

Tires could be super hard since the high cornering force would generate more heat, and again computer monitoring means that they can be worked at their limit and conserved when needed.

I am surprised that there is so much disdain for it. To me it's one of the virtues of GT5 amid all the problems.

Online the X1 can be eliminated from the race just by having a minimum weight limit. I think it's about 790kg.

Id think this would be worse.. because you would still have to account for the fact that he would be carrying forward the X1s momentum when he flies out, aka you just went from simply putting him in a tree, to putting him somewhere in the next county, the parachute would have to be extremely lucky to slow him down quick enough.. and even if the ejector seat can shoot high enough to accomplish that, if the X2010 gets the chance to spin even the slightest bit, itd could really screw up his parachute deployment (it could offset the angle the seat launches at) and wrap him up in the thing far quicker neater and tighter than any north pole christmas elf could ever dream of doing.. and then once hes wrapped up, he comes back down at terminal velocity, i cant imagine this would be a pleasant experience for him, the car is too dangerous if it crashes on existing road circuits with existing safety measures

It's actually 760kg. :) I do it all the time to remove X1's/F1's/FGT's. It's when you want to get rid of the Furai aswell that you need the minimum weight at 810kg.

It's easier to just limit power. It's the only car that can make 1400hp. But there are cars lighter than it

because you would still have to account for the fact that he would be carrying forward the X1s momentum when he flies out

That doesn't make sense. There will be momentum either way. On the parachute, you're not giving the zero-zero ejection seat enough credit.

Yeah, but the downside of that is that the X1 only needs to use it's engine limiter to bring itself back into the room and the only way you can keep it out is by reducing the power to 700hp maximum, which then restricts pretty much any supercar that has a tiny bit of work or even none at all (Veyron stock, Zonda R stock, any slightly worked ACR, Enzo, ZR1, SLR, SLS, R8, etc.). With that power limit you couldn't even enter a fully worked Mustang or 458!! :yuck:

It's easier and more effective with the weight limit or better still, restricting PP.

huhhhh.. physics is the key word. It's hard enough to simulate the tire physics in normal car correctly. It easy to have a car in a game to "drive on rails" like X2010 does it's a lot tougher to have the car act like they are actually on tires.

The harder the tires are ( also the more air you put in them) the less rubber is actually touching the pavement so you get less grip. You need tires to be soft for grip but at the same time able to handle the forces pulling against them going around a corner.

While a jet can pull a lot more G's yet a Bi-plane can still out turn a jet. It's totally different to get something pull the G's of a jet at the turning radius tighter than a Bi-plane.

Yeah, I see the theme here is that people like to say well if a F-22 RAPTOR CAN DO IT THE X1 CAN DO IT.

Well when a F-22 Raptor can drive itself through Nurburgring at 200mph per turn without any fatailities then I'll retract my statements - but most likely that ain't gonna happen.

The problem with the X1 doesn't necessarily come from what it is, I'm sure any car company on the planet could design and actually build it. A 1,400hp V6 is a little extreme and probably would be thrown out of the project for a V8 or V10, but I'm not saying it couldn't be built. The Aero is fine, I'm not even doubting that it couldn't be molded.

But the percieved performance is absolutely out of the question. There aren't tires on the face of the earth right now that could withstand the full potential of the X1, as driven in GT5. IMO, a real X1 probably wouldn't run much faster times than any regular F1 car and if it did it would more so be attributed to just having more power. Handling and corner speeds would all be virtually the same, but those extra few hundred HPs down anything resembling a straight line would make the real difference.

So at the end of the day... what point was there to making it and including it in the game? It's meaningless to the auto industry or even motorsports, it has no bearing IRL terms, its performance is blown way out of proportion, and what it really narrows down to is just general knowledge - more power = faster lap times. Well durr :dunce: So I propose, if we're going to include fantasy cars lets also throw in some Transformers, laser guns, and space ships! And some explosions We could call it - TOO FAST TOO FUTURISTIC?

Stop comparing the x1 to the 2j, they're from two different periods of time

Stop comparing the x1 to the 2j, they're from two different periods of time

They're being compared probably because they're both fan cars that have great performance and both get hated on a lot I think. I just hate it because the kids that drive it reverse on track and hit people, and this car is impossible to make. Who would be able to handle the G-forces?

The harder the tires are ( also the more air you put in them) the less rubber is actually touching the pavement so you get less grip. You need tires to be soft for grip but at the same time able to handle the forces pulling against them going around a corner.

Deformation is most simply expressed by Hooke's Law, F=kx. The more force, the more deformation. Hard tires on the X1 could act like soft tires on F1 cars. You wouldn't put soft F1 rubber on a racing truck, the truck would be too heavy. Same for the X1, it makes too much downforce, so it gets its own tire.

While a jet can pull a lot more G's yet a Bi-plane can still out turn a jet. It's totally different to get something pull the G's of a jet at the turning radius tighter than a Bi-plane.

Well OK, but I was talking about G, not turn radius. And for a given speed, G is proportional to turn radius. The reason why a biplane can fly a tighter turn is because it can pull more G at those low speed. The X1 would be to the biplane what the biplane is to the jet since it creates 0 speed downforce.

Now I think you're completely off the mark. How could the corner speeds possibly be the same when the X1 has such a massive advantage in downforce? Fan cars were banned for a reason, because they work and they work too well. F1 cars would be hopeless outclassed by the X1, it's pretty much a fact.

And yes, we know about the tire issue, but here's the thing. No one has had to develop tires for the X1, so there's a reason why they might not exist while still being completely possible. And secondly, GT5 isn't the more realistic computer code ever written. As a matter of fact, the grip on normal race cars is just as inaccurate as that for the X1, after all they all use the same physics. Would a real X1 pull 8g? Possibly, but the bigger thing to take away is that it would leave a F1 for dead no matter the track. The F1 has zero advantages.

You could put F1 tires on the X1. What would happen? The F1 would drive normally. The X1 would drive with the F1's maximum brake, turning, and acceleration at every speed. The F1 car would be hopeless.

It's in the game to show people the limits of modern auto technology. It does a good job of showing how limited race cars may actually be. And while it's silly for someone to look at it and say it's fake just because it may not be 100% accurate (and in GT, nothing is 100% accurate in the first place), if one tries to be reasonable with it and accept that the research needed to define the true maximum performance simply could not be carried out for a video game, it makes as much sense as any other car.

I don't see how Transformers would fit into GT though. They're not all that realistic.

Stop comparing the x1 to the 2j, they're from two different periods of time

Why does that matter? The X1 is a 2J from 2010. If you want to see what a X1 would do to a F1, look at what the 2J did to everything else.

The X1 hasn't spoiled anything. Spoiling Career mode isn't possible. Don't use it if you don't want to. The X1 is a redeeming feature of A-Spec because it reduces grinding.

As for online, post *No X1's* as your room comment and it's fine. You could play GT5 without every seeing an X1, so I don't know how it could possibly ruin anything. It's also a fun car to race online, so losing it would only detract from the game.

And how does it make other cars obsolete? Do Group C cars make Super GT cars obsolete? Of course not. You just race Group C vs Group C, so it's pretty clear how the X1 should be raced.

Stop comparing the x1 to the 2j, they're from two different periods of time
Yes, the 2J was ahead of its time destroying the competiton because a new design that was banned. The X1 shares the same characteristic in a modern design with performance in mind and with no race regulations.

The advantages in the handling and performance with that design will always be there independently of the age period of the car. Is not a fantasy and is based on actual physics.

the 2j is legendary race car, the x2010 is fictional one... I don't know how both can be compared.
I don't "hate" x2010 but despite him a lot, because his high level of unrealism, but it's only my opinion.
