I remember in a thread I suggested that the car wasn't fast and somebody told me it wasn't the car itself the it was the tires now ferrari is saying its not just the tires :D

Ferrari would say that a certain Japanese in a white and black car would be the reason to them not performing well.

Of course it's not just the tyres. But the tyres obviously have alot to do with it, because a chassis doesn't have such huge performance fluctuations.

In San Marino MSC had the fastest lap by around .8 of a second:
1. MSC - 1:21.858
2. Button - 1:22.604

But in Turkey MSC was 2.2 seconds slower than the fastest guy on the track:
1. JPM - 1:24.770
14. MSC - 1:26.991

A car can lose speed compared to its competition over a season, but it doesn't lose 3 seconds! Only tyre choice can cause that much of a drop. Bridgestone couldn't create the right sort of tyre for Turkey. Indeed, the previous race in Hungary MSC came 2nd and was only .2 off the fastest race lap. You can't tell me the chassis is fundamentally slow if they've shown signs of pace like that.

It has to boil down to tyres!

So Michael Schumacher loses 2 seconds in a week? Yep, I can see that happening. If the car is fast, Michael will be driving it fast.

Didnt they have to redesign alot of the car complety for the 2004 season so mayabe this time round they werent on the ball and seeing as it wasnt just a update on last seasons car they fell back dramatically.

And driver ability of course....

Buzz..

Schumacher without a doubt has the ability. really, he has more then needed. I am not a Schumacher fan, but you can not deny his god given talent. if you still don't belive me, go watch the 1995 Belgium Grand Prix. yea that was an amazing display of talent. if anything, I'd say the '95 Belgium GP was to Schumacher as '93 Donnington was to Senna. without a doubt.

on terms of car construction. I'd say Ferrari was used to making a sprint car for the past, what, 5...6 years. the old Ferrari's would be horrible to their tires, just eat them up, in an effort to get the maximum speed out of the car, then after so many laps come in, change tires, and start all over again. now since you can't change tires, Ferrari had to build their car differently and so they have to learn how to build a different car.

rock.

Or the 1996 Spanish GP. Very reminiscent of Senna's amazing drive at Monaco in 1984. In a clearly inferior car, in the wet, they both absolutely outclassed the opposition

i saw parts of the 95 race on f1 decade. that was a HELL of a LOT of skill.

and yes, to young warrior, ferrari like most teams made a new car. if they hadent they would have done worse all season. you can see this to be true be looking at the first few races when they used last years car updated to the new rules. that was just terrible.

often you have to make a new car to keep up with the change, which is why so much change is bad. jordan had been using a chassis that was 3 years old until they came out with the new one recently. its all a balance. ferrari, like bar, got it wrong this year. both teams have done their best to overcome this and both teams have done well, just not near as well as last year.

Well he might of been stuck behind a slower car, which i know is aero but it can also be driver ability, im not sayin MS is cr*p suddenly, but maybe.... ever so maybe he could have been having an off day.
